*raises hand* Damn, Brandon is a keeper.
Upgrading my tagging of this series from strict erotica to erotic romance. The depth of the character development and the emotional content of the stories rivals the erotic appeal. And appeal they do.
They’re definitely read-in-order serialized fiction, but in a “each chapter fully satisfies” sort of way.
And man, not an orgasm was had — unless you count the single ruin. Total kinky foreplay. I love me some long drawn out kinky foreplay.
I’ve been reading a lot of dark, noncon reads this year. This is just as hot, but a total 180 on the issue of consent. Brandon is totally conscientious when it comes to consent, but in such an effortless way. He’s totally the neighbor you want to have your key when you find yourself stuck on a one bar prison. Seriously, the man knows how to build trust. Love him encouraging Natalie to share details of their relationship with her bestie. Like I said, one of the good ones.
Okay, hands up who got emotional at that ending? I did for sure. I got through a few tissues in that last scene (No, not for that! You have a dirty mind. Good work.).

Better and better
This series just gets better and better! Every book gives a healthy look into the budding BDSM relationship between the main characters. The way James writes the characters so that you can image being Natalie or Brandon, helps pull the reader into the story even more. Their building the type of healthy BDSM relationship that every sub I know, including myself, dreams about.
This book particularly shined a light on the cesspit that online BDSM interactions are. New subs can be terribly taken advantage of, because they don’t have the experience or support they need to spot the abusers. James did a wonderful job pointing out this fact of our community without making it seem like everyone you meet online or in person is trying to take advantage.
Great job, James! I’m off to read the next book.

The end ruined it for me. I thought the things he had her say during the caning “I was stupid, but now I’m not.” “I was despised, but now I’m loved.” to be incredibly creepy and potentially harmful, given they didn’t go over that beforehand. I know if someone had me repeat those lines I would say my safe word and then probably never see them again. And I thought the declaration of love was way too fast considering the reader hasn’t been privy to ANY conversation that doesn’t involve sex, and we don’t know anything about Brandon. I loved the first two books, I’m really disappointed. I actually feel dirty and gross, and not in the fun way. I only give it three stars because it was normal until the end.

I really enjoyed this book, and I love the series so far!
Honestly, it's a breath of fresh air to read something (erotica) written by a man, especially when you consider women dominate the whole genre.
The series is hot, but it's also heartwarming and cozy. The chemistry is explosive, and the spice is SPICY! I think the characters are pretty realistic, and they really dive into situations that can happen to people interested in the community.
5/5, strongly recommend, if you are into BDSM.
I also love the personal notes from the author (and his question and quests).

OK, how the hell is this series getting better and better.
As with other reviewers, I am now adding "romance" to "erotica" in the tags.
The continuing arc of the relationship between Natalie and Brandon is absolutely wonderful. In this episode, along with all sorts of care and stroking and the pluses (and minuses) of edging and continuing orgasm denial, we get a very, very tasty impact play and punishment scene.
Damn.
I can't wait to read the next installment.

This is a cute and fun little series. Brandon and Natalie are moving a bit slow - so don’t expect hot and heavy ripping each other’s clothes off scenes. But they are still spicy with a heavy BDSM theme. Lots of spanking in this one.
