Antony Harrison grew up at his mother's elbow in the kitchen. Taking a leap of faith, he opens a bakery on a small coastal town and bakes to his heart's desire. When the locals aren't as welcoming as he'd hoped, he turns his eye to the annual Gingerbread contest. Surely if he wins such a coveted award, the people of Seagull Cove will open their arms to his business.
These two competitors find themselves at odds with each other until a thief gives them a common goal. Can they set aside their competitive spirits in order to catch the criminal or will the lure of winning keep them apart?
Her Christmas Baker is the second installment of The Gingerbread Inn holiday romance series. If you enjoy spunky heroines, strong heroes, and mistletoe kisses, then this series if for you!
While each story can stand alone, I recommend reading them in order for maximum enjoyment and to avoid spoilers: Her Christmas Handyman Her Christmas Baker Her Christmas Detective
Book 2 at 2.5 ⭐️ - I won’t try the third in the series. I enjoy predictable rom-com especially at Christmas but these were just not enough conflict, too much telling/not enough showing, too much instant attraction, and not enough spark.
Her Christmas Baker, The Gingerbread Inn #2. This is a Christmas story so full of mystery showing up in so many ways it was like riding a roller coaster and hanging onto your seat. The author slowly reveals a suspect and then something else happens. The three granddaughters had came to help out their grandmother after her surgery to run the Gingerbread Inn at Seagull Cove. The Inn held the Christmas gingerbread house contest each year. All three of the granddaughters met a wonderful man and romance was in the air. There were also sweet Grandmother Claire and the feisty Mrs. Harrison that slowly showed her softer side adding to the fun. If all the work leading up to the contest is not enough, the night before the contest was to be held the entire room was destroyed. Just another glitch in this already crazy mess. I really enjoyed the characters and the author's descriptions seen to make the book to just come alive for the reader. A great book to add to your library.
One small town, two bakers, can it work? Emory has come to the small town of Seagull Cove to help her grandmother, who was injured in an accident, run her inn. Emory has always dreamed of opening her own storefront bakery and is drawn to the town’s bakery. There she meets the baker, the egotistical and incredibly handsome Antony. Soon they are challenging each other in the town’s gingerbread competition and sparks begin to fly. But a series of thefts, damaged work, and out right destruction brings them together enough that they begin to see each other’s strengths. But as the first two mysteries are solved a third appears threatening to harm both Emory and Antony. This is the second book in the series and although reading them in order would be helpful, this can be read as a standalone. I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review
I’m so please at how much I’m enjoying this series. This is the second book in the series and I’m already looking forward to the next one. Laura Ann write such sweet characters that you just can’t help but love. Her heroines in this series all have their vulnerabilities but despite’s these they’re feisty and determined. The hero’s have all been rather sweet and caring but with this one in particular, I liked how Antony is a bit of a tease, and knows how to make people laugh and not take himself too seriously - however, he does have a few moments of true seriousness and I did like seeing these. It made it all the more enjoyable for when he wasn’t too serious and vice versa. I liked the interactions between him and Emory. They’ve got great chemistry. As I said, I really enjoyed the character development for this series (this book in particular) and I’m looking forward to the next one. We still have a bit of a mystery to solve. Some of the mysterious happenings which happened in the previous book have been explained but there is still more to come I’m happy to say 😉 I definitely recommend reading them in order for this reason and for the gradual nature of how the characters relationships develop throughout.
This is a clean and wholesome read which I am happy to recommend. Be warned - you may want gingerbread after reading this book! I received an arc of from the author. This in no way influenced my opinion and I am under no obligation to leave this review.
I encourage you to read these stories in order to get the full picture as each one emphasizes a different woman. Antony is enthralled from the first time he sees/meets Emory but she can't stand him (he's the competition & not to be trusted). The mystery that was in the first story is further developed in this story. I think it will finally be completely solved in the third story which I am anxious to read (& comes out really soon. These stories are the perfect combination of love, mystery & shortness for this Christmas season. I am thoroughly enjoying them. I received an ARC. This is my unbiased opinion.
Emory, the baker cousin, meets Antony, a bakery owner, when she first arrives in Seagull Cove to help her Grandma Claire. As the story progresses verbal sparring ensues, the missing food mysteries continue, and the stress she takes on could cause her to miss out on the best thing to happen. Laura Ann’s Her Christmas Baker is a sweet romance confection you’ll want to eat up. This nook also sets the stage nicely for Bella and her knight and leaves plenty of mystery left for them to solve.
I read this book with my Kindle Unlimited subscription and I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
I just finished the story, and I seriously have a major case of the feels. Emory was sweet and sassy, and Antony was so charmingly cocky, they fit together like two pieces of a puzzle. What a fantastic story for the holidays, all the characters showing an outpouring of excess love and compassion when they could've easily kept anger in their hearts. While this can be a standalone novel, you'd definitely benefit reading the books in order for a fuller story. This is a 100% clean romance with a bunch of swoon-worthy kisses, but no swearing or sex.
If You Can’t Take the Heat, Get Out of the Kitchen!
Emory and Antony have great chemistry sizzling between them. I loved all of the scenes with them baking together. I also enjoyed how the mystery builds in this story. You get one aspect solved and something unexplainable pops up. I can’t wait for the last book!
Content: clean (no language, no violence, sweet sizzling kisses)
Three cousins, three romances and three mysteries to solve. Emory and Antony are both bakers who get off to a rocky start. Their interactions make me smile and laugh. There is another mystery to solve in this book. This book does repeat some from the first book but from Emory and Antony's perspective but not so much that it is repetitive. So looking forward to book three.
This is one of my favorite books by Laura Ann. A perfect mix of chemistry and fun. I totally enjoyed every bit of this story. Antony is the perfect swoon-worthy boyfriend, a mix of cocky and sweet that plays perfectly against Emory’s spunkiness. The side characters added a real to life family dynamic that made me smile. Excellent easy read.
I'm so enjoying this series! It is clean and sweet with some mystery thrown in. Emory had her head wrapped around baking and left no room for anything else and Antony was just what she needed. I love that there isn't any "drama" in the book. They are perfect for each other and a very enjoyable enemies (if you can call them that) to lovers HEA!
However, we who are reading the books in order know that Emory and Antony didn't meet in a bakery...but I'm not going to spoil it. I'm binge-reading the series, so I'll head on over to the next book now.😊
Emory's and Antony's story is fun! His irreverence and charm is exactly what Emory needs to balance her more staid tendencies. Now, the mystery solved relates to the missing food at the inn, and the story told is sweet and well-written.
This was a cute book about Emory and Antony. Loved that they were both bakers. Some of the mystery was solved but there are still some questions that I hope will get answered in Bella and Hank's book.
These are all such wonderful and sweet characters.
Love how there is love and mystery. Antony and Emory are the sweetest (pun intended) couple. They feel in love at first sight. Antony had to work to get Emory attention but it finally paid off
Once again Laura Ann jumped right in to developing her characters. They start out being antagonistic to each other but end up falling head over heels in love with each other. Yes, they are both baker's, but their baking compliments each others.
Fun plot. Ingesting characters. The book flows easily making the reader to not want to stop reading. This is the first Laura Ann books I've read but definitely won't be my last.
A beautifully written story: I loved the chemistry between Emory and Anthony. The continuity of the series was great, and the characters were well-developed. I would highly recommend it.
2nd book in the GingerBread Inn series. This one is about the cousin who is the a baker who gets involved with a comptetor in the Gingerbread house competion.
Enjoyed this book continuing with family and friends. Still some mystery. Which I like. Romance is always a good thing. Keeps the book happy even when things go wrong.
