The Fasting Highway: Graeme Currie takes you on a journey through the highs and lows of beating a crippling food addiction by losing 60kg (132 pounds) living an Intermittent Fasting Lifestyle
The Fasting Highway is a motivational story from Australia that follows one man's incredible weight loss journey by living an intermittent fasting lifestyle that you can do, too. Graeme Currie overcame a chronic sugar and fast-food addiction that had affected his entire adult life. Because he has lived through the highs and lows of a weight loss journey, his story is relatable and easily resonates with everyday men and women who are in a similar situation and want to change their lives. Graeme takes you through his journey step by step - how he did it, what he ate when he ate and offers a great insight into making intermittent fasting a permanent, sustainable lifestyle. He has successfully lived a healthy life and has easily maintained his current weight for over four years and counting. Graeme writes in a raw and honest way without overcomplicating an easy-to-follow, simple process. He has guided countless people worldwide, has built up a huge following across social media platforms and is the host of the popular podcast "The Fasting Highway," which has been downloaded over one million times. An excellent read for anyone who thinks the mountain is too high to climb in retaking their health.
Since I've listened to Graeme's podcast and enjoy the interviews he does each week, my curiosity was piqued to read his entire story. His intermittent fasting journey is incredibly inspiring. The lower rating on this book is my own pet-peeve. This is a self published book and the author would've benefited greatly by having it professionally edited before putting it out there for the world to read. The grammatical and punctuation errors were extremely distracting to me from the story he meant to tell. It was almost like he recorded this as a voice to text and then hit the publish button. I recommend skipping this book and tuning into his podcast of the same name, and you'll get the essence of his story there as well as additional inspiration from so many others.
I was only reading this because the FB group I joined said I was supposed to, and even though it was honor system I couldn't lie. Luckily it was a very interesting read & Graeme's story was very inspirational. I learned a few helpful things, too. Don't let the grammar mistakes bother you, his enthusiasm to get healthy and break his food addiction were worth the read. Though my story is very different than his, gaining 30 pounds after Jared died, and not being able to shed a pound no matter what I tried, this IF is working. I'm down 10 pounds!!
Those are the ways I would describe Graeme Currie. I ran across Graeme a few weeks ago because of the intermittent fasting lifestyle. Boy, am I glad I did! His podcast and now his book has "hit me" at the right time. If you're tired of being overweight and want to make a change, do yourself a favor and check out this book. It's conversational, enlightening, and filled with motivation. Although the grammar is a bit off at various places, it's not off-putting. Thanks Graeme - for your story, for the book and podcast, and for being vulnerable enough to inspire others to focus on their whys.

After listening to Grame’s Intermittent Fasting Stories podcast #23, and then joining his own Fasting Highway groups and listening to his own podcast, I just had to buy and read his book to show support and thanks for the ways he has shared his journey. Not only did he encourage me along the way, his story helped convince my hubby of the benefits of IF. Thank you, Graeme, for your willingness to share your story! You are changing lives!
Obesity is a hard life and a miserable existence compared to being a normal healthy weight. Overweight people are the masters of procrastination. Normal people cannot understand why you don't eat better food.
Acknowledge that you are a food addict. It's liberating and necessary to start the process.
Start by loving yourself first. Write down all the things you will be able to do when you get to your goal.
Watch the documentary film "That Sugar Film" for a reality check. There are 56 different names for sugar. Learn how to read it on labels. https://www.virtahealth.com/blog/name...
Adults should have no more than 8 teaspoons of sugar per day (30g). Aim for less than 50g carbs per day.
Soft drinks trigger your sugar issues. Just drink water!
In the supermarket, everything in the middle isles is pretty much a giant pile of sugar and carbs we need to avoid. If you can't work out what is present in some food from the nutrition label, don't eat it.
Cooking is essential for your weight loss journey. Cook vegetable soups in winter!
Go cold turkey. Take leave from work when you first withdraw from food addition issues and clear out your social schedule.
Do clean fasts where you only have black coffee, black tea or water (plan or sparkling).
Clean fast for at least 16 hours per day.
Keep it simple and don't spend all day trying to analyze science.
Be prepared for a spectacular battle of wills between your mind and your appetite.
Go slowly. You are making lifestyle changes.
You are doing it for yourself. You don't have to tell anyone. Don't care what people thing.
Join fasting groups on Facebook.
There are a lot of non-scale victories you will be surprised by.
Once you conquer the mountain of getting rid of obesity, nothing will stop you.
The more you do intermittent fasting, the more your self-confidence skyrocket.
To maintain, you can do a TMAD (two meals a day) 16-8 protocol.
Consider weighing yourself every day and keep weekly averages.
Be prepared that you will encounter weeks when your weight will not change. Trust the process!
Book to read: "Fast Feast Repeat" Read Effects of intermittent fasting on Health Aging and Disease (Dec 2019)
I loved this book. A great read on the many benifits of intermittent fasting. Graeme is obviously passionate about his new lifestyle and also keen to help others lose weight and change their lives.
The only issue I had with the book, which I read on Kindle, is the countless grammatical errors. Sometimes I had to read a sentence or paragraph 2 or 3 times before realising it was making no sense because of missing punctuation. There are errors on every page. I started noting them down, but gave up about halfway through.
Definitely needed to be professionally edited before being published.
Lack of editing aside, I loved Graeme's story. He is inspirational and passionate, and his weight loss success is clearly seen in the photos he scatters throughout the book.
This book is really interesting, important and informative! Every person here in the US needs to read it. Especially with so many here eating processed, fast food ,too much sugary foods and drinks, taking too many medications and not exercising. Intermittent fasting is a great way for people to lose weight since you don't have to think about counting calories, points or worry about what to eat at 3 meals. Much less cooking 3 times a day. It's a no-thinking type of lifestyle to get started on. Then, keep adding in healthier options and you'll be off any meds you're on and will be looking better as well! Thank you Mr. Currie!
The story itself is great and very inspirational. He shares an amazing way to conquer weight issues. My only reason for the lower rating is the readability. This book is in desperate need of some editing. The grammar and sentence structure is so poor in some areas it makes it a challenge to read. I do applaud the effort though and the information shared is great!
I listened to Graeme’s story on the Intermittent Fasting Stories podcast then picked up the book right away. I really enjoyed and appreciated the things he shared. I have been fasting for 3.5 months and listening to people’s success stories really motivates me. Typos, missing punctuation, and jumbled sentences were distracting, but didn’t negate the value of the journey.
Reading his story is inspiring. You cannot argue with that. But as a self published book he really needed to ask a trusted friend or teacher to proof and help with some editing. It gets hard to read at times because of the very poor grammar, sentence structure and punctuation. But aside from that I enjoyed reading about his story.
Informative, inspirational, motivational, and authentic!
This is my first official IF book download ( although, I have others ready to go based on Graeme’s advice) and it checked all the boxes to get me started on my journey. This is my 4th week of IF and am just now finishing all chapters. Some, I read more than once for application purposes. A must read for sure!
A wonderful book that has inspired me to keep fasting to help me to beat my obesity. Easy to read because it is in Graeme’s own unedited words. The true struggle he had with obesity and the inspiring strength he possessed to overcome it. It is my bible to beat my obesity. Thank you Graeme.
Graeme is such an inspiration and encourager to anyone considering this lifestyle. What a motivator and he doesn’t use the book to ‘big’ himself up but to inspire and support others ‘paying it forward’
This guy really inspires me to keep on the fasting track. I look forward to watching and reading the resources he recommended. Also will be listening to the podcasts.
This was a great book I have 70 lbs. to lose And in the last 5 months I've had 3 heart attacks I need to lose this weight this book inspires me To begin intermittent fasting. I'm an 80 year old man.
I avoided your book because you looked too skinny on the after photo. I should have read your book first since you answered a lot of questions in my head..
Graeme gives a very honest summary of his obese life and lack of health before cutting out a lot of sugar and then discovering intermittent fasting. His story is inspirational. Intermittent fasting really gives us back our lives.
An outspoken kiwi bloke's bloke regales his multifaceted journey to health. Fails, flops and dusting offs its all there and of course the final results.
Loved this book...as a sugar loving fast food foodie I both laughed and cried as well as sympathize. Definitely recommend. Encouraged the try intermittent fasting.
Very good read , really informative and straight to the point , really enjoyed it . I have dabbled with fasting on & off for a few years . This book has inspired me to try again .
This was a super easy and inspiring read, and felt like I was just listening to Graeme’s podcast. My only complaint is all the grammatical errors. I found myself having to re-read a few sentences several times to make it make sense.
The content of this book was really interesting and inspiring. There are so many errors however in the lack of proof reading it really took away my enjoyment. I’d be happy to proof read it for him for free just to clear them up…
Really excellent read, very well structured and it really shows you the power intermittent fasting can give you. Just reading it and getting absorbed in the story really gives you hope that you too can change.
This is a down to earth book that makes you say "yer why not give it a go! I started OMAD fasting before finishing the book. I want to lose 35k and I think intermittent fasting is the way to go..
What an inspiring story. Life changing advice. I always had weight related issues and this book will change everything for good. Can't wait to try this new lifestyle.
A life-changing addition to my books on IF. Graeme is relatable and real and motivating. Thank you Graeme Currie. Your book cemented my journey on this life-changing path!
Graeme tells the story of how he lost a Lot of weight using Intermittent Fasting. Best of all, he has kept it off. Very conversational tone and enjoyable.
