The victims are innocents pulled into an unforeseen tragedy. To make matters worse, a magical talking cat shows up and tells me that my dormant powers must be honed for the upcoming battle against evil.
What the heck is that thing talking about? But somehow we end up living together, and therefore bonding in our daily lives.
Then as time goes on, the truth about my magic slowly surfaces to the point I attract villains bent on world destruction.
This is some of the worst writing I have ever read from a book. No, it probably is the worst written book I have read to date.
My first thought was that this was written by a 13-year-old on Wattpad, but that would be too cruel on the fanfic writers of Wattpad. The sentences were structured with very little details, in a very matter of fact way. Hated it
The premise of this book is amazing but the execution not so much. The writing is choppy and seems pasted together (see excerpts below). Though there is world building it falls short and in turn is hard to picture and connect with. The character development was lack and you struggled to really know who Glen is and relate to her. I enjoyed the art work and the world it just could use a bit more creative writing instead of feeling like a fanfic written on the internet.
Glen is still asleep. Her friends are inside her bedroom, checking her out. Glen’s hair remains jet black. “I hope she wakes again,” Maury says. “Gwen, you still haven’t answered,” Liz says. “What about him? Why did he carry Glen out?” “Let me answer your concerns,” Morus says as he arrives through materialization. “Mrs. Gwendolyn, it’s time we tell them the truth; they need to hear.” “Who is he?” Maury asks. “He is Morus, a god,” Liz replies. “It’s been forever since I saw some of you. Of course, you’re all different now. Mrs. Gwendolyn, we must get ready,” Morus says. Gwen cries. “I didn’t want Glen to go through this!” Morus sighs. “The short answer is Miss Glendolyn’s powers awaken to a certain goddess. She said it herself: Mistress of the Full Moon. Hence, a reincarnation of Nyx.”

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. It's a bit confusing as the main character is female but named Glen. There is action in the book but there seems to be a lot of the world building. First Glen is a sorceress than is the possessed form of Nyx. When kidnapped to call forth the lord of the underworld, Gwen who is the ghost inhabited toy cat sacrifices herself to save Glen and stop the summoning. This is the end of the first book of the trilogy.
