Shifters Under the Mistletoe

Rate this book
Shifters in Love brings you another holiday anthology from your favorite authors. This is a collection of brand-new shifter romance stories in time for Christmas. We hope you enjoy our sassy, loving, smart, and sweet heroines as they fall for the man of their dreams and get their very own holiday present in the form of true mate love.

A Cowbear’s Christmas Fling - Liv Brywood
Amelia’s Christmas vacation to Huckleberry Valley takes an unexpected turn when sexy bear shifter Luke Evans catches her eye. She doesn’t have time for romance, but he’s impossible to ignore. With the help of a little mistletoe magic, he’s determined to claim her as his fated mate.

A Caribou Christmas Carol - Lola Kidd
A last minute road trip leaves shifter Kary Doyle in a sticky situation. He thinks he’s found his mate but she’s a tourist from out of town. With her trip coming to an end, can he find a way to tell her how he feels without scaring her away?

Her Guardian - V. Vaughn
One avalanche. Two strangers. Three days until Christmas. Marjorie reluctantly went to the mountains of Colorado for the holidays to unplug from taking care of everyone in her werebear clan. The last thing she wanted was to end up with someone taking care of her.

Peppermint Prancer - Ellis Leigh
My job as a kitchen elf was easy until I was called to work in the training barn with the reindeer. Yes, those reindeer. Now I’m baking protein bars, worrying about things like carb loading, and doing my best not to obsess over one of the original sleigh pullers. The one with the graying hair who won’t stop flirting with me. Christmas is coming, and I know exactly what package I want under my tree.

Dragon Out The Tinsel - Julia Mills
One Wolf Princess. One amazing Dragon. A Destiny neither could’ve ever imagined. They may have waited thirteen years to be together but saving all they know and everyone they love is the only way these Fated Mates will get their well-deserved happily ever after and a very Merry Christmas.

Pirouetting Around the Dragon - Rinelle Grey
Helios has far too much on his plate for a forbidden romance with a very beautiful — and very human — ballerina… If Helios and Piper want their happily ever after, they’ll have to fight for it — and it won’t come cheap. But that shouldn’t be a problem for a dragon billionaire, right?

Fae Lady Rebellion - Celia Kyle & Marina Maddix
Chafing under the watchful gaze of her overprotective big brother, Wren Oberon has to use all of her fae powers to get her sneaky-sneak on so she could attend the holiday party of the year at Othercross. Now she finds herself in a compromising position with no help in sight — until some random wolf shifter comes to her aid in a most dramatic fashion. Can she figure out a way to escape her brother's enchantments or will she live the rest of her life wondering what might have been?

Dashing Home for Christmas - Harmony Raines
Reindeer shifter Dash is traveling home to Wishing Moon Bay for Christmas. One phone mix-up later and he has the best Christmas gift ever. His mate. But he soon realizes he will have to sacrifice his own happiness to make Penny’s Christmas wish come true.

Dragon’s Christmas Surprise - Scarlett Grove
350-year-old billionaire dragon Erik Sorenson is not a fan of Christmas. When a squirming bundle shows up on the firehouse steps, tinsel hanging from the firetruck is the last of his worries. He needs a nanny and fast. Daphne Young arrives for the interview wet and hungry and smelling like his mate. It’s then that Erik realizes he may need to change his mind about Christmas.

This is an OK set of holiday shifter romance novellas, but most of them were too short to have enough character development. I needed more backstory on all the characters.

The novellas were all similar in featuring the typical shifter instalove, sometimes with a human mate and sometimes with another paranormal. Some of the stories were better than others, as you would expect in a set like this.

I suspect that many of the stories in this set are part of a series. That is one thing I usually don't like about sets like this, since series books are almost always better if they are read in order. In some of these stories, I think they would have been much better if I had read the rest of the series they were part of.

Overall, the boxed set contains several quick shifter romances, most of which were mildly entertaining. It's a good choice if you like reading short shifter romances, and don't mind a lack of character development.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Love box sets and this has some of my favourite authors.
Kindly gifted to me by Ms Mills and also read through Kindle Unlimited.
Read my favourites authors first then the others but review is in box set layout.
Read for the Julia Mills story but I like both of these other two authors, Ms Leigh and Ms Raines very much.

ELLIS LEIGH - PEPPERMINT PRANCER
How wonderful to get another book by this author.
Though part of the Mates and Macaroons series, it had a strong similarity that tied in very well to another series about reindeer shifters at the North Pole.
Loved the Christmas vibe and the characters, though Cupid was a big humbug.

LIV BRYWOOD - THE COWBEARS CHRISTMAS FLING
Not a fan of this author and after reading the first three of this series and finding them weak, I do not wish to read anymore.

V VAUGHN - HER GUARDIAN
I don’t get on with this author’s style of writing so will not be reading this.

HARMONY RAINES - DASHING HOME FOR CHRISTMAS
Enjoyable short read with an insta acceptance of shifters plot but entertaining all the same.
Liked how fate played with Gina and Dash so they would meet.
Saving Christmas for Gina’s brother and his family was a nice sentiment.

LOLA KIDD - A CARIBOU CHRISTMAS CAROL
No vibe or click between Kary and Sana.
I just didn’t enjoy this one. Didn’t feel Christmassy, I am not a fan of child pageants at all and this was lacking romance.

CELIA KYLE & MARINA MADDIX - FAE LADY REBELLION - OTHERCROSS
I have read all the Othercross books, just not the Fae ones so didn’t know any of these characters.
It was okay but due to the extreme shortness of this story, I don’t know anymore about Wren or Brody at the end, than I did at the beginning.
Brody is an alpha but he was going to walk away from his fated mate and leave her with a known a-hole instead of protecting her. Yes, he does save her but all he needed to do was cut in on the dance floor.
Yes, Wren acted immaturely but she is only 18. Her brother Dain seems like a controlling jerk reading his blurb he sounds unlikeable, so I can understand her sneaking about.

JULIA MILLS - DRAGON OUT THE TINSEL
Another short fun addition to the Dragon Guards- McAllen Clan series.
More of a condensed storyline than we usually get but entertaining none the less.
These are great coffee time reads but if you haven’t read this authors books these characters will not be known to you.

SCARLET GROVE - DRAGON’S CHRISTMAS SURPRISE
Wow. Just too unbelievable. Nothing about this felt right.
Starts with a baby left at the fire station, which turns out to be the result of a drunken one night stand by the hero, who is a 350 year old dragon, who has longed for his mate for centuries.
He apparently only hooks up with a woman every ten years or so but someone of that age should know about condoms.
So, biological mother is apparently a non-issue for the rest of the book, even if she returns. Lets hope she is not in trouble of some sort.
On the same day he finds that he is a dad and takes his baby son home, apparently the one who will be his heir, he meets his fated mate.
Too bad for any children they might have together. Not so happy siblings coming up.
Turns out his mate is only 19 years old and is on the run from the mafia, due to her brother being a drug dealer.
Daphne lies, never questions about the baby’s mother, or his lack of morals in having unprotected drunken sex with a stranger.
She falls in love with Eric in 2 seconds, gives him her virginity but it has nothing to do with his billions of dollars.
If the dumped baby wasn’t Eric’s, it would have then been okay but the fact Hagen is his biological son just annoys me due to the no knowledge about the biological mother part.

RINELLE GREY - PIROUETTING AROUND THE DRAGON
Just couldn’t get into this at first with the family dynamics.
The overall intensive greed about money was off putting but I like Melodia’s passion for dance.
The ending was a bit hurried and a bit silly.
And once again the chance of another fortune turned the tide in the parents thinking.

Holiday time in the shifter world. A wonderful group of short stories by authors you may know and love and maybe some new ones to introduce their work to you. A few examples...

V VAUGHN HER GUARDIAN
Marjorie & Nick
What is a mandatory vacation? What you take when your boss insists and basically shoves you out of the door. In other words what she was supposed to be taking. A week in the snow for skiing and relaxing. Instead, literally, snowed in after an avalanche with the shifter she'd been trying to avoid---why? He is her second fated mate. One she was not prepared or wanted. At least that what she told herself.
A cute story of love after loss and a new future.

SCARLETT GROVE DRAGON'S CHRISTMAS SURPRISE
Eric & Daphne
This should be SURPRISES because the dragon shifter Chief of the fire department, Eric, found a little Christmas bundle on the doorstep of the department. The little bundle made him need some help. Another surprise. The female he interviewed was his fated mate. The same mate he'd signed up on mate.com for decades ago. Now he just had to tell this human about being a dragon and her mate.

She had secrets. Not that she wasn't attracted to him. Not that she didn't want him but she couldn't be with him with all her secrets and the danger she could bring to him.

Will they find love and a future or will the danger keep them apart?

Enjoyed the story and the characters. Plenty of steam and some sweet romance as well.

Just two of the short wonderful stories in the set. What a deal.

Nine romantic novels in this Christmas set. You'll love all the ooey gooey love 💘 in one fantastic set. Each with their own trials and tribulations. The plots seem simple enough, but even if cupids arrow hit its mark. Can it open the eyes of the targets to make them see what's best for the main leads?
Peppermint Prancer
A reindeer shifter may have just found the one person who sets his heart alight. The only problem is no one's ever heard of a inter species mating in the North Pole..
Cowbear's Christmas Fling
She's only in for the holidays and will ship out to here dream job and current home. She has no attachments in her hometown besides her estranged father and a hardheaded brother. So when she spies a friend from her past. She can't get him outta her head. So maybe a fling will clear things up, right?
Her Guardian
Two lonely souls, who lost the other half of their hearts meet in the most unlikely of places. In the mountains of at Lichenridge Cabins.
Marjorie didn't want the vacation to begin with. Only her boss is booting her very much overworked butt out of the office. For what he says is a much needed vacation. Only when she steps onto that very mountain, she's just starting to think she'll like it. She runs into a bigger problem. She has a second chance at love. Will she take it or will she just pack up and leave.

These are just three of the fantastic short novels you'll find in this Christmas boxset. Don't let the chill set in, grab a blanket, some tea or hot coco and curl up to read.

Book Review: Shifters Under the Mistletoe: Holiday Multi-Author Box Set
My Rating: 5 Stars

REVIEW
I have read 2 stories in this set so far and I am leaving my review.

Peppermint Prancer by Ellis Leigh
This was a new to me author and this story was sweet and hilarious.
What does an Elf named Lolly do when she is asked to cook in the Reindeer kitchen? Well she finds her mate. She panics at first but she feeds him that is what she does. Death by cinnamon-date bun... I win! What's your name little one? I'm Lolly. And you are? "Prancer." WHOOPS hehe, this is a cute, sexy holiday story.

Dragon out the Tinsel by Julia Mills
The only person Telle has in the world is her brother who is also the Alpha of their pack, and although she loves him he isn't going to tell her what to do... She is a strong female lawyer and will kill butt and take names later but what does she do? Gets herself into one heck of a pickle. Telle has known who her mate is but he left. Well he is back and things are hitting the fan with some big bad uglies. Can she save her pack mates and have her mate finally? haha, find out! This story has action, and a bit of rom-com too.

Love Christmas box sets!! 10 short stories!

*So far, this review is only for Her Guardian by V. Vaughn*

Were-bears Marjorie and Nick both lost their true mates 30 years ago. Marjorie keeps herself super busy and closed off; she’s a workaholic and she doesn’t want to take a vacation, but is being forced to because her bosses and friends want her to enjoy life more. She ends up going on vacation during Christmas to a ski lodge type place in the middle of nowhere. The owner for the lodge is Nick, who is happy and content running the lodge alone. Both are in for a surprise when they discover they both have a second chance with a true mate; each other. When the two end up in a situation that forces them to be with each other, the attraction continues to grow; poor Nick has his work cut out for him. Marjorie is a bit unpleasant; she’s set in her ways and isn’t willing to accept any change in her life. This is a 3.5 rating for me; mainly because I didn’t quite connect with Marjorie, but I rounded up to a 4 because I love forced proximity and the story is well-written. Plus, Nick is wonderful; such a sweetheart, and some good passion too. It was a fun read.

Looking forward to reading the other 9 short stories!

To be clear, I only read one of the stories.

Fae Lady Rebellion - Celia Kyle/Marina Maddix
Wren is the little sister of Dain. He sees her as that, a little sister. She is eighteen and wants to be treated as such. Even her sister in law, Galwyn knows that. Wren just wants to experience the Othercross Ball and be free for once. Brodie Sinclair figured after Iris, he wasn’t going to look for his mate anymore. He was happy for Rafe and Iris but he was ok being a lone wolf. When he gets the scent of Wren, that all changes. We met all the Fae Lord mates in this one, well sort of. If you read the Fae of Othercross series, you will get the back story of the three of the Fae Lord’s. Dain is an overprotective brother. All the mates are on Wren’s side and you have to love it. Brodie is such a sweetheart. He doesn’t pressure her. It is definitely a sweet romance.

Peppermint Prancer by Ellis Leigh: This was an adorable read that proved that love and fate didn't show favorites. I loved how both he didn't care that she wasn't the same, he wanted her anyways. I loved how she showed him her love before even saying it!

The Cowbear's Christmas Fling by Liv Brywood: I could understand why she was struggling to give up the life she had built, but loved how she was willing to take that chance. Loved how he put his feelings on the line. Good read!

Her Guardian by V Vaughn: Second chances at true mates never looked so sweet. I loved seeing both of these characters find love again. I loved how he was determined to not give up his second chance, even if she was unsure. Cute read!

Dashing Home For Christmas by Harmony Raines I loved the fact that this author's men will do whatever necessary to help their mates when it comes to their happiness. This was definitely a book of fate playing a hand in making people believe in magic and in the trueness of love. Loved it!

A Mistletoe Mistake

I love Christmas stories. I love shifter stories. I like to try new authors. This collection had potential but missed the mark big time. I felt like this was a stack of English writing assignments instead of published authors. I admit the first story was entertaining. After that, it snowballed quickly into a huge disappointment. I kept reading hoping it would get better...no such luck.

Delightful Variety of Christmas Shifters

Wonderful collection of creative stories reflecting different approaches to shifter worlds and how they exist. Each author has a different perspective and details on how shifters would interact in the world of humans, find their fated mates and insure love. I enjoyed them all, and that's saying a lot given the number of novellas in this multi-author box set.

This is a collection of ten stories about shifters falling in love. I read five of them, skipping the ones that were part of a series I haven't read. The ones I did read were great although I did come across a few errors, both grammatical and typos. Otherwise, the stories I read were well-written with wonderful characters. I was drawn into each story and kept hooked from beginning to end.
