The Scot's Angel

Rate this book
Yule brings them together, an accident rips them apart. Two spirits have other ideas.

Claray Grant feels the loss of her beloved grandsire as Yule approaches. Past thirty and still unwed, she fears she will be alone for the rest of her life, but then a miracle happens. Thorn Taylor, the man she has loved for years, professes he feels the same way.

Thorn has always wanted to marry Claray, but it took him years to find the courage to pursue her. Her adoptive sire, Connor Grant, is chieftain and a legendary warrior, and Thorn is naught but an orphan. But Yule is a time when the impossible is possible, and Connor gives him permission to pursue his daughter...which only makes it harder when everything falls apart.

After Thorn plays a role in accidentally injuring Sela, Connor's wife and Claray's mother, he runs from the keep in shame, only to be captured by reivers. The happiness Claray and Thorn are so desperate for is about to be ripped from them, but two Grant spirits won't allow it. Alex and Maddie Grant have big Yule plans for their loved ones.

A quick read, and I kind of love that all the series tend to end with a christmas novella. What I'm not a fan of is the story where an orphan thinks they aren't worthy. It's okay sometimes but I feel like I've read it a handful of times throughout the Grant family series which is odd considering Loki is an orphan and he's one of the most beloved and respected characters. So how does this keep being a point of tension?

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Claray Grant feels the loss of her beloved grandsire as Yule approaches. She is past thirty and still unwed and she really fears that she will remain that way for the rest if her life. She knows she belongs, but sometimes doesn't feel like she does. Then a miracle happens. Thorn Taylor, the man she feels like she has always loved, professes his love to her as well.

Thorn Taylor has always wanted to marry Claray, but it has taken him so many years to find the courage to pursue her. Her adopted sire, Connor Grant, is chieftain and a legendary warrior, and Thorn is naught but an orphan. But Yule is a magical time of year and Connor gives him the permission he needs to pursue Claray, which only makes things all the more complicated when everything falls apart.

After Thorn plays a role in accidentally injuring Sela, who is Connors wife and Claray's Mother, he runs from the keep with his head hung in shame, only to be captured by reivers. The happiness that Thorn and Claray have started to feel is abruptly ripped away from them, but their are two Grant spirits that will not allow that to happen. Alex and Maddie Grant have big Yule plans for all of their loved ones.

Kiera Montclair writes one of the sweetest books I have read in a long time. It was wonderful how the whole family got together. The way those two Grant spirits got their way was nothing short of brilliant. This was like a trip down memory lane with another beautiful ending that left me with a wistful smile playing on my face. Ms. Montclair this helped my Christmas spirit this year and I really appreciate that.

Oh what a gift to visit with this amazing family!! This is a must read series because all the character’s are someone you would want to know. That’s why it is hard to flip that last page because the story has ended and taking the character’s with them.

You will have to suspend belief at times because of the magic interwoven in the story! I am not saying much more so not ruin it for other readers. This has a touch of sadness that soon turns to that warm feeling you get when you wish for something and you get it.

The story started out slow for me. It also took me awhile to feel a connection to the H/h. But once everything started to mesh it was wonderful. There are some suspenseful, anxious and heartfelt moments to keep you turning the pages.

This is a clean story with only a few kisses. As with many series we have a lot of crossover characters. This can be stand alone but it would be more enjoyable to know what a strong presence the grandparents are to this clan. You will get that by reading the series.

No cheating, no cliffhanger, very satisfying HEA, romance and clean. I was given an advanced copy all opinions are my own and freely given. (ljb)

A TRUE DELIGHT FOR THE HOLIDAYS!!! The Scot's Angel by Keira Montclair is book 6 in the Highland Swords series and though in a series this novella can be read as a standalone. There is nothing better than a holiday themed story and if like reading about Yule you are going to love this story. Keira is one of the best authors of our time and her writing never disappoints. I found this medieval story original and oh so exciting that I could not put it down. I can’t say enough about this novella and the writing. Just so heart warming. This story has an accident, guilt, running away, wanting to find one’s sire, loving from afar, a kidnapping, family love and closeness, not feeling good enough, shyness, rescue, caring, guardian angels, a blizzard, kindness, the celebration of Yule, and yes, finding love. It has it all and as I said it was a true delight to read. I highly recommend this book.

***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.

The Scot’s Angel

This was the perfect book to read at Christmas or any other time. Part of the Highland Swords series, Claray finally gets her romance. This is the story of Thorn and Claray, and a love that started at a young age, but didn’t come full circle until many years later.

Claray was a late bloomer socially, but the sweetest girl in the clan, she is also the adopted daughter of one of Laird’s of the Grants. Thorn was an orphan accepted and cared for by the Grants. Thorn wasn’t sure he was worthy of Claray. The setting is during Yule time, that will be celebrated without a favorite family member. There is an adventure that takes place involving many favorite characters of the different highland series of Kiera’s. And the story explores Claray and Thorns feelings for each other.

It is a heartwarming novella involving family, love, missing a loved one and even two wonderful angels. I highly recommend this story.

The Scot's Angel by Keira Montclair
Highland Swords Series Book Six

Claray Grant is Sela's oldest daughter. Her evil father had been part of the Channel of Dubh and used Claray to get Sela to obey him. At three, she'd been in a small room with her mother while a hoard of spiders were let loose with them. The memory was faded, but her fear was still very real to her. She'd never forget Maddie Grant coming to save her.

Thorn Taylor, rescued by Connor from the Channel of Dubh as a young boy, had become part of Loki's clan. He'd long cared for Claray, but never felt worthy of a laird's daughter. This Yule season was about to change things. That is, until an accident that Thorn felt responsible for sent him running.

All in all, things worked out just as they needed to. As always, I loved the story. It had me smiling sometimes and crying at others. Keira Montclair has a beautiful way with words.

Another wonderful Highland story by Keira Montclair. This novella is book 6 of the Highland Swords, it is set during Yuletide and has a full range of emotions. Keira has a way with her words and her characters that makes it easy to get lost in their world. As usual, once I started the story I did not want to put it down. It's a story of discovery, family, Clan, and love...and some special guardian angels. This is a part of a series but can be read as a standalone novella. If you are a long time Keira fan you will love the story and enjoy seeing familiar friends. If you are new to Keira you will love the story and the characters, you might even decide to check out where they got their start.

Every book I have read in this series has become my favorite & after reading Book 5, I thought nothing could be better but Book 6 is my new favorite. I was gifted so many scenes which brought forth different emotions - sad, happy, funny, sorrow, pain, love, tears, laughing & then all the added family & extended family members, clan members appearing brought more joy to the story.

When I read "The End", I felt like I had just been given a warm & wonderful family, holiday hug! I highly recommend this book all of the books in the series. I voluntarily read & reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts & opinions are my own.

A Beautiful Ending for the Highland Swords series.

The Grant clan pulls you into their world. From book one to book six. I read the first then had to find the other five to read. Was so happy to find all of them on Kindle. They are what I call addictive, read all six in four days. This was one of the best reads for me this year. I always enjoy Keira Montclair Highland books. She does her research and brings you into her stories. Looking forward to more of her Highland stories. I hope everyone enjoys them as much as I do.

Beautiful story!

We've watched Claray and Thorne grow up from children in Connor and Sela's story. To see them get their HEA together was so fitting.
But the better part of this story was the saying of goodbye to Maddie and Alex. They touched the lives of so many people. It was just fitting to see them together and allow everyone one last goodbye.
I laughed, I cried. What a great story!

The Scot's Angel (Highland Swords Book 6 )

I loved this book! It saddens me to know this is the last book ( as the author said at the end when of the last book). I love all the Scottish Clans in these books, the Grants, Ramsays , Drummonds , McKinzi (not sure of that spelling) plus a few more. I sincerely hope MS Keira Montclair will continue to write more stories of these families.

What a wonderful Christmas story. I just now got back to reading. After my father passed away I had surgery. So I have been out of it. But as usual Keira Montclair has brought another awesome Grant story. And with it being a Christmas story and the angels in it. Yes I cried but it such a beautiful story. Thank you Keira

I really loved seeing Maddie and Alex throughout this book. Everyone has their dreams of the two of them in some form or another, they are always young. I'm glad to see Thorn and Claray trying to see their way together. The ending was the best for me. HEA.

Heartwarming

Left me with a good feeling about angels watching over us. It was also nice that Thorn and Classy were able to become the couple they were always meant to be. It also was nice that Thorn was able to find his father and ha be a relationship with him.

Another fast-paced, action-filled tale filled with well-drawn characters that you will identify with, some to love some to hate. Sometimes you want to "smack one on the head". A number of twists and turns keep you reading non-stop. An excellent way to spend an enjoyable afternoon.

The Yule preparations are in progress, but some problems arise

Excellent ending of the previous books. The entire family, of the clans, together for the Yule season. There were, of course, some nail biting times, but all ended well.

Amazing

What a wonderful ending to the Clan Grant books. It was fitting to end it Claray and her happy ever after. It was great for ALL the clans to be together for Yule and could say their final goodbyes to Alex and Maddie and could how happy there were to be together again.

A goid wrap-up of the series

A nice novella to wrap up the Highland Sword series. The main battle is with the weather. Secondarily, people's battles with their own uncertainties is an integral part of the story.

I've enjoyed the whole series, I just find it sad that the author brings in such childish rubbish when there is a good story to be told without it, all the stories were very good but you have to put the childish rubbish to one side when reading this series
