McFadden and Banks really do have their time spent wisely in this book.
There's a Diplomat who had chosen to use the Pita goo, mixed with Cocaine, in order to make himself a very rich man.
Unfortunately for him, he decides that Taylor and Niki need to be got rid of, after being told that they were investigating the matter.
This starts a journey for Taylor and Niki, that has them flying from the States, and into one gunfight after another, as the other parts of their team, Vickey and Deck, search as deeply as possible, for everyone involved in this stupid, and very deadly, business.
This story was even better than the last, especially as Taylor and Niki end up having to leave their Mech suits behind, and do their latest job the old fashioned way!
I loved the almost James Bond feel to this particular story, and how the team work to get things done, that a small army would probably have failed at.
I loved the intricate plotting, the various characters involved and, something that I found hilarious, with Taylor and Niki's dislike of having to ask the Mafia Don, Morino, to hire his private plane - and just how THAT ended up! Lol
The problem I really have with these books, is that there are just so many layers to the stories, that it's really hard to choose what to mention in these reviews.
There's such a huge choice of intrigues, back plots, side stories, and characters to follow, that you'd end up writing a novelette, just to get the basics mentioned.
That, alone, is just one of the reasons why I love these books so much!
If you like realistic language, and behaviour, intricate plotlines, great characters, and storylines that will either touch you the core, or have you belly laughing suddenly, then this book, and all the rest of this series - along with all the other ZOO series - will definitely keep you entertained for quite some time!
I know they are for me! Lol
So, now I've finished this book, it's straight on to Book Three: 'Hostile Negotiations', and so I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think about it!
The dynamic duo have a new mission, stop the goop from getting mixed into the drugs that are smuggled into the US. So, take out the guy orchestrating the whole operation, simple enough except it's not; not for McF&B, there are always complications, and that's where the fun starts. They approach their new mission with diplomacy, finesse and enthusiasm. Nah, only kidding they go in all guns blazing.
Vickie and Desk are on overwatch so McF&B are almost infallible on this mission, although Vickie does have her own problems to deal with.
They have to deal with internal betrayals and external threats. Youths in gas stations, harassing Banks as she fills up, Taylor in the shop buying snacks, a confrontation ensues, funnily enough, that happened in the last book as well, a bit of deja vu there. Eventually, they pack their suitcases full of marmalade sandwiches and set off for Peru, sorry guns… yes guns and ammo, not marmalade sandwiches my bad, sorry got confused with another book about Peru.
The plotline was exciting and entertaining the narrative flows smoothly and the characters are believable, the dialogue is witty and funny at times, it's all very entertaining. So, overall this was a fun and interesting read.
So Taylor and Nicki have been called in to a horrific situation, it could possibly take out the whole population one way or another you would think everyone even the least informed would stay away from the “goop” but no every single genius thinks they can control any and all problems that may occur yet time and again we’ve seen they cannot and have not. One person has found out what no other research has ( as far as we know) about the “goop” and its connection to the zoo and zoo animals .....oh and that’s not even what McFadden and Banks have to go to Peru to deal with!
But these aren’t Zoo monsters, they want to use the products from the Zoo to make the poison they sell more survivable and yet more addictive. Drug dealers in South America are importing refined Zoo serum to mix in their cocaine. And Taylor and Nikki are the ones chosen to solve this issue, permanently. But the drug kingpins have informants in government and leaking the plans about the mission is quickly done. Then things get complicated for the pair. A good read.
Great as always. Anderle the Great is like the Great and Powerful Oz. I don't think he has superpowers but he is able to create these great stories and characters that will pull you into the books and make you forget all your problems. After 2020 and the state of things in the world I argue that that in itself is a superpower. So to the Great and Powerful Anderle the Great I say thank you. For all you do to make out lives better. As for M&B 2 it was great I read it in 1 day. Couldn't put it down
It was a fun and very action filled book. I really enjoyed this and the expanded role desk is having. I am not sure why they do not just buy her a set of servers elsewhere as a third location though. Maybe they do that in the next book. I really hope there are more zoo books on the way, the only one I have left to read is the next one in this series. I really recommend the zoo universe books and this series is awesome.
Another Anderle hit. Great story and a great cast of characters. Toss in an AI friend and how can you go wrong. Here's to the hands down #1 urban fantasy writer. Looking forward to the next one. Ad eternatatum!
This is another exciting story and only the 2Nd book in the McFadden and Banks series but I can’t wait for more. Great characters and exciting plots and action. What more could a girl ask for.
Another spectacular addition to the series. Great characters with realistic situations and lots of action and adventure. I love the Zoo world and all the different series in it. I look forward to the next one 😀
This one was action packed and definitely the funniest as well as the house scene (you'll know it) was brilliantly written and going internationally was a great bit for the series as the possibilities just keep getting better.
I was disappointed when I found myself at the end of the book. There was so much going on and I was constantly surprised by the twists and turns. Full marks for an engrossing and entertaining spin off of the Cryptid Assassin series.
Rarely last past first contact. Taylor and Nikki get that in spades for this book. A rough, action packed ride for our heros, but still very enjoyable.
I have read all the zoo books. This montage of stories has been my favorite. I hate that the other stories have fell by the wayside. I hope for more McFadden and banks.
Mmm really appreciate this book. Love the characters and the excellent way the story builds. Have to say that I have to buy the next one of course. Here's too you Michael!
Another winner I was thinking that I hadn't read a Zoo book recently and what appeared on the screen but this thing of beauty. Thanks for the great read!
