If you haven’t read the series you might enjoy it by reading this box it. You will find that the writing is better as The series progresses. Daniel Hunt is a great character his artificial intelligence partner X is A great sidekick. The plot becomes more interesting and more twisted as the series goes on. In books eight and nine we get a new character a very snarky AI which brings the writing up a notch and makes the books a lot funnier. Al is a treat. I don’t think she should replace X though. My only pet peeve is Daniel hunt loses more guns than any other character I’ve ever read about. The author should count on how many weapons he loses throughout the series it’s probably quite astounding. I also think he should drink from the cup of a mortality and so should the rest of his crew. If their job is to protect the universe then they’re going to need all the help they can get. I found the entire series enjoyable, some ups and downs throughout the books but relatively a good series.
...it doesn't have originality, character development, or well written prose. Sometimes an easy read with good action can get by on that alone, sadly this series can't. The writer obviously didn't both with anything resembling a competent editor, not even an automated one. The book teems with malapropisms, disagreement in case or number, and continuity errors. Add to that milieu that lacks consistency, logic, and believability.
Even for "free" on Kindle Unlimited, don't waste one of your book slots.
This was a light series told in a fun way. It is light on the science and heavy on the fiction. that lets a reader escape reality for a while. If you are looking for escapism it’s a fine read, if you are looking for all plot holes to be filled, the science to be sound and the story to be well researched… well, this ain’t it. All in all it is a good story told in a fun way.
After reading the first 9 books in this series, I can hardly wait to get the next books! The hero(es) is rough and tough with plenty of flaws, but as the series progresses, he is also good and caring. Anyone who enjoys futuristic military tales will like the series. I could not rate it highly enough. It is truly a 10!
Hero goes from one battle to another. This book has 9 volums with at least 3 more to buy . Hero has magic healing ability so he can be mortally wounded and keep on functioning. Author calls slug thowing weapons "blasters" which is silly. Hero is expecyed to save the galaxy by the end of the series
very good series. As part of a special team, Daniel becomes the head of a mercenary group protecting humanity from Aliens and monsters roaming a devastated Earth.
Reading this felt less like reading a book and more like reading the script for a B movie. Dialog reminded me of teenagers trying to act like adults and overreacting. Action was over the top.
This stands for "Old Young Adult"! It's ready to see a book written for someone with a low sense of humour and a love of using words that are almost right, but not quite. Still, the four rating is a honest one.
Adventures and heroes on Mars and Earth combine to give us an exhaustive but thrilling ride. Artificial Intelligence and advanced weaponry aid the team to battle their foes. There is still time for kindness and love and humour.
What a fabulous story. I can’t even chose a single favourite character. Each one is a realistic blend of human strengths and frailties. With nonstop threats and battles there is just barely room for love to grow. This was a brilliant read and I’m sorry it’s ended.
Who doesn’t enjoy humorous self depreciation, snarky AI’s and strong witty women. Now throw in nasty aliens with a history and nastier humans full of greed and corruption and you have a rollicking great series. Thanks!!!
What a mixture. Futuristic, Aliens, Good old fashioned Action , Romance, Hints of old legends & relics, great characters good story line . You can’t help not moving on to the next book in the series.
Been reading novels by Yanez. H steadily improves. Still a few grammatical errors and a bit more editing might be useful. Will continue to watch for things by him. Only caveat from me is the endings can feel rushed.
Great action packed series! Well defined characters who are very interesting in themselves! You will find it difficult to put down the series of Sci-Fi action!
