A soul for a soul

Ravynne Morgan is a simple village girl with a tragic past, leaving her outcast and shunned by those in her village. One afternoon she meets the ruthless faerie king’s son, Nyx.

As her cold heart grows warmer with each interaction with Nyx, she knows she’s stepping closer to a dangerous path she never intended to head down.

After she discovers she’s a seer she’s racing against borrowed time to keep her power concealed from the faerie king.

One tragedy strikes after the other which forces Ravynne to put her trust in Nyx so they can both work together to banish the evil that has fallen upon the village. Little do they know, their lives are more intertwined than they could have ever imagined.

The more time she spends with Nyx, the more she comes undone. As she heals from wounds in her past, she realises she must make the greatest sacrifice of all if she’s to protect those she loves.

A heart for a heart.

Yall, work is really starting to get in the way of my bookish life! What is up with that?!?! Yes, I may be 5 or 6 reviews behind. SORRY!! But with so little time, I have had a hard time pulling myself away from the many wonderful worlds of Shana Caldwell.! I think I may have a big o’ author crush.

Seriously, she is so amazing. I want to pick her mind apart to see how it works. Any maybe stay there since that is where all my dream guys seem to be too.

Ok . . . enough rambling. Let’s review! First up is “Enchantment of Darkness.” If you can’t tell from the above, I LOVED IT! Ravynne is a spunky MC with a heart of gold and I love her oh so much! Her willingness to put others first while not losing the edge of fear, that can make these types of characters unbelievable, was the perfect blend.

With any stand-alone romance, it is easy to feel like the “love” is rushed. However, I thought Caldwell’s pacing was on point; not too fast with a good amount of tease. Ah! I want to gush about the characters more. Seriously, I simply recommend reading it.

Personal disclaimer for those who like the same type of narration as I do. Be warned. This book (as all of Caldwell’s books) is written in first person present tense. Personally, I find it hard to read and don’t tend to gravitate to it, BUT, this story is so good it is worth it!

“You are so painfully human sometimes, Ravynne,” he groans, pressing the palms of this hands into his eyes.
“Yeah well you’re painfully an asshole nearly all the time so check mate.”

I highly recommend you add this book to your TBR I throughly enjoyed it. Rav and Nxy are amazing characters and I really enjoyed watching their relationship bloom.

First of all thank you Shana for giving me an arc of this book!

I really liked the story of Enchantment of Darkness! I flew through the book.
I think the author did an amazing job at writing the relationship between Ravynne and Nyx. Throughout the book you see the connection between them evolve into something more. And Nyx is just perfect, so no wonder Ravynne fell for him.

Some things were a bit predictable and others weren't. I definitely hadn't seen that ending coming and now I'm really curious of how their story continues!

I really recommend this book!

This book is simply enthralling and captivates me on every page. The world building is so vivid that it feels like I'm a part of the story! Each of the characters are beautifully described and it is easy to fall in love with the two main love birds... The tension between them is so palpable that you could almost taste it!
Over all, an easy read from the first chapter to the end and I cannot not wait for the next book by this Author!

OH MY! This was my first book that I have read for Shana! And when I say that this book was everything that I thought it would be, I mean it! I loved all the twists and turns. Ravynne had so much growth and wouldn't take any crap from anyone and I loved that. Now onto Nyx! Nyx was so protective and you could see how much Ravynne meant to him! I just loved this story so much

I’m so glad I gave Enchantment of Darkness a chance. It took some time for me to be immersed into the world, but once I did, I was caught up in my mystery and intrigue.

Ravynne & Nyx were really interesting characters to get to know, and I enjoyed seeing them grow individually and together in this story.

Looking forward to reading Enchantment of Thorns!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Faeries seem to be a hot topic at the moment but Shana brings a freshness to these creatures. I was hooked from the very beginning and didn’t want to put it down!

Our main character Ravynne is a girl with a tragic past and with a secret. Living in a village under the rule of a faerie King, life for Ravynne can be stifling, boring and an excuse to remain distant from everyone. Good thing we meet Nyx, the King’s son arrives to shake things up.

The world created was fun and interesting (if not a little confusing at times wether it was modern or not). The characters were fun, well written and intriguing and the plot had me engaged until the very last page.

The monster within in the story is terrifying and I know I would never want to cross one in real life. Danger lurks in every corner and the race against time has your heart beating fast!!

If you like faeries then you definitely need to have this book in your life ASAP! It available now for purchase. I look forward to reading more from Shana in the future!

Enchantment of Darkness by Shana J. Caldwell was hiding in my TBR book fort for a while, but I finally read it! This YA fantasy romance was a wonderful escape from reality...

Ravynne Morgan lives in a village with her family, still haunted by her sister’s death. When Ravynne discovers that she’s a seer, it’s a struggle to keep this knowledge hidden from everyone… But if she doesn’t & the ruthless faerie king discovers her power? Her life would be forfeit. With children getting murdered, Ravynne & Nyx (the faerie king’s son) must work together to find & destroy the evil tearing her community apart. But can they stop this darkness before it takes Ravynne’s young brother? Is it wise to trust a faerie’s promise? And what is the cost Ravynne must pay to ensure everyone’s safety?

Shana has given us a wonderfully inventive & unique story, with a sinister evil ready to devour everything good in Ravynne’s world. It’s a great escape from reality, with a YA fantasy plot so many bookworms will fall madly in love with; there’s darkness, faeries & terrible magic afoot… What’s not to love?!

I can’t even begin to explain how much I actually loved this book!

Ive been reading a lot of fantasy books lately and I was starting to get a bit sick of it 😂 like yeah I wanna read something a little different. But I had Enchantment of Darkness on my tbr for June, I never got to it so I figured nah I’ll read it this month.

And boy was I extremely surprised with how stuck into this book I was considering I was getting a bit sick of fantasy books 😂 it was seriously amazing! And now it’s even got me wanting to read more fantasy books!

The whole storyline, characters, writing and world building was fantastic. I loved all the areas you went to in this world, everything is so detailed in my head and I can vision everything so well. I loved the suspense throughout the book and the relationship building between the main characters.

I’m definitely keen to read more of Shana’s books in the future! ❤️

Enchantment of Darkness was such a great read. I particularly liked the characters of Ravynne and Nyx & watching their relationship develop as the story progressed. Initially, I was feeling some The Cruel Prince vibes from Nyx but I felt he went on his own journey as the book went on.

The story was captivating and it served as the perfect way for Ravynne to come out of her shell and explore her powers. I really like her it also served as a coming of age for Ravynne. We see Ravynne struggling to cope with some past events and this book really helped her address them emotionally and accept that they were not entirely her fault.

This was a perfect standalone book.

“I want you to be greedy,” I whisper and my pulse races.

Enchantment of Darkness is a beautiful read. I was so captivated with Shana J. Caldwell’s words that I had trouble putting the book down.
I had a little difficulty with the world building. And I couldn’t help but notice the similarities between Enchantment of Darkness and ACOTAR. But overall I didn’t know what to expect when starting this read but I most certainly wasn’t disappointed.

Okay so let me start by saying it only took me so long to finish this book because of unforeseen events that happened in 2021 (apart from the pandemic).

Not gonna lie I felt the start of the book was a little slow however it did start to piece together slowly and unfortunately I had to take a break between the last time I read when I got to page 125 it was picking up but I had to put it down.

Once you get to around the halfway point everything is more fast paced and the chemistry between the main characters becomes more evolved and there more character developed.

I definitely have to say I waited way to long to make the time to finish this book and if you love fantasy, magic, magical creature and little mystery you’ll love this book.

it was a good overall read .... there are just grammatical errors sprinkled throughout the story.

I enjoyed the character of Nyx, he reminded me of the characters I used to come up with as a kid for my own stories.
I can't wait to read more of this series

If you know me you know very well that I love a good fantasy Book. Enchantment of Darkness is a YA Novel that will grip you from the start. Sprinkled with murder mystery it will give you a beautiful new Adventure set in a World where Fae and Humans live side by side. You will feel Rain, you will taste food and you will have Ravynne´s heart when she runs in whatever trouble she comes across. Good for a certain Fae that happened to come around and help her, because she is in no need of rescue thank you very much, Nyx is the best counterpart a girl can wish for. The energy between these two is like a beautiful meadow in the alps near a secret blue crystal lake. Breathtaking! If you are drawn to Magic and Myths and Love (wink, wink) please do yourself a favor and read this one!
