Jen Katemi is a USA Today bestselling author of steamy contemporary and paranormal romance. She also writes as Zoe Delaney (dark Mafia romance) and Ava Rose (sweet historical mysteries).
When she’s not writing, Jen runs an editing and proofreading service and pampers various cats. She lives in Melbourne, Australia.
This is the second book in the Banshee Power series. I waa a bit concerned at the beginning of the book as the characters felt a bit two-dimensional. However as the book progressed and more characters/plot came into the storyline they became more rounded.
This is the story of Indigo a famous singer and half banshee and her romance with the warrior fae. Can she escape the clutches of the evil fae? Or will she doom everyone with a wrong word and her blood....
I’m really interested in the next book in the series to see how it concludes.
BANSHEE SONG is the second instalment in Jen Katemi’s contemporary adult BLOOD FAE CHRONICLES erotic, paranormal/fantasy series focusing on the hybrid offspring( part human / part fae) of Lady Renna of the Fae. This is banshee Indigo (Indigosturianawella), and winter warrior Tarrien. BANSHEE SONG can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalment is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Tarrien and Indigo) BANSHEE SONG follows Winter warrior Tarrien as he is tasked by Lady Renna to guard and protect our story line heroine but Indigo wants nothing to do with supernatural protection until an ‘abomination’ of hybrid wear and human targets our heroine for capture and control. What ensues is the quickly building relationship between Tarrien and Indigo, and the fall-out as Indigo finds herself imprisoned in a world she knows nothing about.
Indigo has only ever her mother once in her life, and as such knows very little about the life and culture of the mythical Fae but our heroine knows she is a Banshee, and uses her voice to entertain the crowds but when death is imminent, our heroine is unable to control the cries, cries that warn of death and dying. Tarrien knows that to protect Indigo is to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love but Tarrien finds himself struggling in the aftermath of an attack wherein someone more powerful is controlling the behind the scenes.
The relationship between Tarrien and Indigo is one of immediate attraction but Indigo refuses Tarrien’s help and order of protection. Tarrien battles between head and heart knowing to get involved with Indigo could mean losing his ability to remain powerful and cold. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are introduced to Indigo’s friend and assistant Dreya; Prince Rhodri; former Queen Rhiannon; Tarrien’s father, as well as Indigo’s mother Lady Renna.
BANSHEE SONG is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, family, relationships and love. The fast paced premise is exciting and engaging; the romance is captivating; the characters are colorful and energetic.
BANSHEE SONG is the second novella in the Blood Fae Chronicles series, and this time we meet Indie. Whereas Aleah was voiceless, Indie uses her voice to entertain and has worked her way up through the ranks to become a lead performer. Tarrien is sent to her for her protection, but he didn't count on Indie's stubborn refusal to have anything to do with him because of his association with her mother.
The attraction between these two is almost instantaneous (if you ignore the smirks when he was in the audience). Indie is a great character who refuses to give in to fear. Tarrien is the perfect foil for her, although his mouth does get him into trouble at times.
With the same fast pace as book one, I can happily say I enjoyed this one just as much. I hope the sisters do get to meet up, and I hope that we, as readers, are privy to that meeting. A great addition to the series I have no hesitation in recommending.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *
The second story in the blood fae chronicles trilogy follows Aleah’s half sister Indigo and winter fae warrior Tarrien. I really enjoyed this story, a lot more than the first. I thought Indie was a fabulous character. She was fun / spunky, brave even when she was terrified ...and who doesn’t want to melt a big strong warriors heart. Looking forward to reading the next/final story!

In this the 2nd book in the paranormal romance we get to meet Indigo another daughter of the banshee Renna but this daughter unlike her sister who we met in book 1 and who was voiceless uses her voice to sing her banshee song of life and death to her audiences. Suddenly her life is turned upside down when a fae warrior from the winter court enters her life in order to protect her from the attacks by the abominations. She does not take him seriously but feels a strong pull of attraction towards Tarrien and the feelings are mutual. He who has his heart encased in ice as his job requires of him suddenly finds the woman who can melt that ice and make him feel emotions which he never felt before and he swore he would do anything to protect her, however she was attacked and kidnapped and he was adamant he would leave no stone unturned till he brought her back safely. Have the abominations been laid low now or will they return? I love this very thrilling dark, romantic adventure series, the sex scenes though steamy are not crude but for a mature audience and I am dying to read the story of the next of Renna's daughters, another hybrid banshee.
Banshee Song is the second book in Jen Katemi’s paranormal romance series – Blood Fae Chronicles and focuses on Renna’s other daughter Indigo and her unique song that can be wielded as a weapon. Pursued by magical beasts that crave her blood and the power that accompanies knowledge of her real name, Indigo is provided a protector from the Winter Court to ensure her safety and that of all Fae who could possibly meet a similar fate. Fierce and determined to take care of herself; Indigo does not believe that she requires protection and resents the intrusion in her life by a domineering and arrogant warrior. But as the story progresses and the danger presented becomes all too real, Indigo and Tarrien are forced to face not only the threat to her survival, but the ever-growing attraction that cannot be denied. Banshee Song is a gripping, action-packed, sizzling romance that is sure to be another favourite of Ms Katemi’s readers. A thoroughly enjoyable story that leaves you anxious for the next thrilling tale.
-I got this book as an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review-
This book has me confused too. The first one was really problematic in my opinion and even if it was better for this one, the smut wasn't it for me. The sex scenes felt unnecessary and again, I thought the two characters barely knew each other so it was disturbing. However, it's really a shame because the rest is really good! I enjoyed how the mystery continues to unravel. The fight scenes were really well written, and I was into it! The world is very well constructed and enthralling and the characters are intriguing and cool. I found it a little too short, and the romance is starting to get predictable because it's always the same for the series: new banshee meets new guy and they have sex a day later or so. Kind of rushed and useless to me, but it's my opinion only.
All in all, it would be really good if the smut wasn't brought out so early I think.
"Then I'll just have to melt that ice around your heart, won't I?"
Banshee Song: A Steamy Paranormal Fantasy Romance (Blood Fae Chronicles Book 2) by Jen Katemi Publisher: Flourish Books Genre: Romance | Sci Fi & Fantasy Release Date: December 7, 2020
Banshee Song is the second book in the Blood Fae Chronicles series by Jen Katemi. It can be read as a standalone book, but I definitely recommend reading the first book because it was so good!
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters and the storyline. The romance was steamy (NSFW) and the banter was fun. Honestly, I thought this was even better than the first book! I thought this was a unique take on the banshee story and I enjoyed all of the paranormal touches.
This was a quick read that I could not put down! I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Banshee Power!
I'm so grateful to Jen Katemi, Flourish Books, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.
Wow! I'm super happy that I came back to this series and read book 2! This one is much easier to get into and is even stronger than book 1.
We continue meeting banshees here, but this one is a little different. Indigo is a banshee who has learned to channel her song into an actual... song. She is a singer and it is during one of her shows when she meets Tarrien. He's the ice cold warrior that we met in the last book, but here he has been tasked to protect another daughter of the questionable lady in winter. These two sizzle right off the page from the start and it only gets hotter from there
While there is a bit of a quick timeline, mashing in the obligatory misunderstanding phase, I found the action and story engaging enough to write it off. I was completely obsessed with where these two would end up and how they would get out of the rather difficult bind at the end. I'm happy to see a nice resolution and eager to check out book 3!
This book has mature scenes. It is advised that persons of appropriate age read this book.
Spice rating- 2.5
Just like the first novella in this series, I really liked the second.
This book is a novella. The story isn’t overly long, meaning there’s no real lulls in the storyline. As a reader, you’re always kept on your toes. I think this book would be great for anyone who’s in a reading slump.
I liked Indie and Tarrien a lot. I think I liked them more than Luc and Aleah from the first novel.
I was a little disappointed that Luc and Aleah was only really mentioned in passing. I was looking forward to seeing how they would interact with Tarrien and Indie in this sequel, however, I feel like they will all be present in the final book of this series.
There is a couple of spicy scenes in this book, but I’m very thankful that Jen didn’t use the word ‘loins’ as much.
There are 2 books to be reviewed here - Banshee Cry and Banshee Song, although there is a 3rd in the series, Banshee power. It is the Blood Fae Chronicles series. A fantasy novel which takes on a Banshee as a main character which is so different from a witch or a were or... The thing we all know about Banshees, is that they cry when a death is to happen. Well not so much a cry as a scream. Except that our heroine Banshee has a very soft voice. So not much use as a warning. And she is only part Banshee, the other part is immortal Fae. Which means she has powers. A good set of fantasy stories. With lots of different Fae and other creatures. Some battles/fights, some power plays, and other normal issues between the various races. If you like fantasy, then read the 3 books.
This is second story in the series and I’m really enjoying having banshees as the main character! The female lead is strong and determined, focused on who she is and not being distracted by the things and people around her. The male lead is amusing, with his determination to remain untouched by the female lead that bends over time.
The story is dual POV, well written and edited, and I really enjoyed it. I’m especially enjoying the secondary characters and how primary characters from one story are woven in as solid secondary characters in others. I received an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is a series with a large plot connecting each story but with new main characters at the centre of each book. This is a short book and unlike the previous book, the sex felt much more natural and a part of the overall story. I am really enjoying this take on the paranormal world set in Australia. The idea that there are so many half-banshee siblings gives the series a lot of opportunities for some interesting things. We discover who the real baddies are in this book and I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes.
I received an arc of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Banshee cry and Banshee song leave very little to the imagination when it comes to romance. The story starts off with talking about sex and than bam the characters are in bed. The mystery of the story is thrown away for sex scenes. The story has potential for a really good short story but the author takes the easy way out writing over the top sex scenes.
The stories are the reason I have avoid paranormal romance stories. All sex and very little story or character development.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the copy of Jen Katemi Banshee cry and Banshee song.
I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I have to say I love the name of the characters Indigo or Indie is a very cool character. She thinks her life is boring. She spends her time singing on stage. Her world is turned upside down when a "Protector" comes from the Winter Court of the Fae. She has people out for her blood. She does not just jump in with both feet, but the book does get a little steamy. It was a fun read. It makes we want to see what the other two books in the series will be like.
I received a free copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This picks up with Terrin directly after end of last book. Jumps right into action, but not much backstory of characters on the whole. There’s an interesting plot twist, but then the book ends before it gets really satisfying if you’re not only about the romance. If you liked the first one, I would recommend waiting until more came out and getting a collection rather than reading them as they come out.
I enjoyed the second installment of the series. Indigo uses her voice in her profession as a singer and as a banshee to herald a death. Her life is in danger and her mother sends a warrior to protect her. This book is darker than the first, as the story deepens and opens up the readers interest in the rest of the hybrid banshee siblings. I'm eager to read about Maewen. I read this book on Netgalley in return for an honest review.
A very good follow on from book 1, the action gets more intense and the plot gets more twisty, looks like there’s going to be an interesting family reunion of sorts. Apparently a human / banshee hybrid is also exceptional at sex, since this is the second one to find her ‘one’ and she’s just as good as her sister!
It's the second book in the banshee series. It can be read as a stand alone though. The first book was terrific and the second book is just as good. It's fast, exciting and fresh. Lots of action and adventure. I like the couple and the way the talk to each other. A great book.'
Indigo is a banshee and she is in love with a winter far warrior. This book was steamy and romantic. The chemistry between the two is straight fire. I really enjoyed reading their story. I definitely a fan of this series
I decided not to read this because the way the 1st book ended was disappointing. I think that if the 1st book didn't stop in a spot where it seemed like there was more to the story, or if this book was a continuation of the characters in the first book then I would of read this one.
Well I didn’t like this story as much as book one. I feel the author is well versed and the characters were well written and the story moved along great the right direction, unfortunately it just didn’t capture me.
Even though the plot moved a long it had more action I still could get myself to care for the characters and the story. The romance was dull and not interesting.
Back to the lives of mysterious half-banshees living a quasi-human life in the regular human world.Banshee Song, the 2nd book in the Blood Fae Chronicles, features another of Lady Renna of the Fae's daughters, Indigo.
Indigo helps transmute her powerful banshee voice by singing her heart out on stage. One night, her typically boring life gets turned upside down by a snarky male and unhinged, magical beasts out for blood. The sexy, mysterious male is a warrior from Winter Court come to protect me as charged by my estranged mother. Now my life is being threatened by a mysterious magical force and I must trust a man that alternately makes my blood boil and heat for different reasons.
I'm really enjoying this continued story arc of a mysterious magical faction out for half-banshee blood and their true name. Lady Renna is a piece of work but I do think that ultimately she does "care" for her daughters (as much as a narcissist can care for anything beyond themselves). The end of this sort of leaves the reader in a state of to be continued. The setup leaves us with the sisters starting to discover each other and band together, the Fae prince, and we are starting the get the further introduction of the Supernatural Police. So we are really sort of triggered into buying the next books. Gah! have to see how this plays out!!! Banshee Power, here I come!
