The immortal knight faces defeat in the English Civil War and battles the vampire Oliver Cromwell.

AD 1644. While Richard Ashbury finds love in Italy, disaster strikes back home in London.

When Richard returns he finds England in a state of war as Puritan rebels battle to overthrow the English Crown.

But for the first time in centuries, Richard finds himself without allies and without his friends in the Order of the White Dagger as he struggles to save the king from the immortal commanders of the New Model Army.

In an England oppressed by the tyranny of the Puritans, he cannot know who to trust and defeat follows defeat until he is driven to depths of despair he has never before known.

As evil tightens its grip on his homeland, if Richard cannot find a way to defeat his enemies then all will be lost forever.

Vampire Cavalier is a thrilling novel for readers of action-packed historical fiction and fantasy. Ideal for fans of Bernard Cornwell, Conn Iggulden, Simon Scarrow, Ben Kane, and Giles Kristian as well as of fantasy authors like Joe Abercrombie, Steven Erikson, Peter V. Brett, Anthony Ryan, and Scott Lynch.

The Immortal Knight Chronicles is a historical fantasy series spanning 800 years from the 12th century to the present day and featuring the most exciting and the darkest periods of English and European history.

I write action-packed sci-fi and historical fantasy. I want to immerse readers in another time and place and for my stories to be gripping adventures. You should love my complex heroes and hate the twisted bad guys.

If you like the sound of that then check out; GODS OF BRONZE (my new historical fantasy series), THE IMMORTAL KNIGHT CHRONICLES (bestselling historical fantasy) and the GALACTIC ARENA series (smart military scifi).

Thanks for taking an interest in my stories. Follow me here on Goodreads to keep up to date with releases.

The adventures of Richard Ashbury continue!!

Intrigue, lush historical detail, vampires (sorry, vampir) loads of action...what's not to love? Dan Davis continues to thrill with the continuing adventures of the immortal Richard Ashbury and his battles with his devious immortal brother William set among true to life historical settings, interacting with real life historical figures and inspiring me to Google constantly to look up the history behind all his depictions! 🙂

MORE OF THE SAME.

Book eight done and dusted and I'm sure book nines just around the corner . More surprises in this one though till that happens, one of the biggest for me was Scotland gets a good few mentions, even my home city of Dundee. I never spoil it for readers of Dans works, so will simply say, if you've enjoyed what's gone before, then more of this saga will keep you intrigued till book nine appears. Enjoy.

Dan Davis has done it again. He has gifted us with another immersive page-turner that is a perfect blend of historical drama and fantasy. This episode is a bit different though. Whereas in past adventures Richard of Ashbury has always been on the offensive and generally been the hunter following a well thought out plan - in this story he is the hunted and experiences defeat after defeat followed by impending defeat. He's always a step behind.

In the story we are transported to the mid 17th century and the English Civil War. Richard's troubles actually begin after he and Drake defeat the Armada. Believing that his nemesis, William, has been killed in that battle, Richard loses his focus. He enlists as a mercenary in various European armies to fight during the 30 Years War, but he's just going through the motions. He no longer has the eye of the tiger.

When Richard finally responds to the pleading of his friends to come home, he returns to find England in a state of war as Puritan rebels battle to overthrow the English Crown.

But for the first time in centuries, Richard finds himself without his friends in the Order of the White Dagger as he struggles to save Charles I from the immortals of the New Model Army.

As with all the stories in this series, Davis has captured a sense of each era through characters, technology, military tactics and weapons, social changes, food and clothing and language

This one has some wild plot twists and special surprises (some of them heartbreaking). If you're keen on intrigue, lush historical detail, vampire lore, and loads of action go to Book 1 and read all the way through. I'll meet you and the Buccaneers at Book 9.

Another fantastic book by Dan Davis. Finished it in a couple days and absolutely loved it. It's a great addition to the Immortal Knight Chronicles (which has become one of my favorite series) and I can't wait for book 9.

Cavaliers and Roundheads!

Wow another instalment of Richards life, from love to possibly death at the hands of those held dear to him. The book starts slowly but ends with a bang, times are a changing but can Richard? You will enjoy this page turner through the English civil war.
