I love being single. I make a living being single. I get everything I want being single. As a dating coach, I guide people through the dating process without a problem. As a dater, I navigate the single life with ease. As a rule, I follow my own advice. But with him it was different. I tell people all the follow the rules and you’ll be fine. Please listen to that advice. Because I broke Rule Number Five… And I am not fine.
Part 2 to Zola single life got me hot!!! Zola is the queen of living in her truth until one date with an old “saint” rattles her rules to being single. Having to choose between two different men seemed hard for Zola but it was so easy for me as a reader lol. Danielle penned this so well I want an update. Well done
This was the perfect follow up to part one and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The connection between Zola and Saint was so strong that you could feel it from the very beginning. Their sex was mind-blowing and had reading with out blinking lol. Danielle Allen always writes amazing books and this series was no different.
What a cute read to wrap up this story! I loved Zola and Saint so much and when they finally got together thE BUTTERFLIES IN MY STOMACH WOULD NOT GO AWAY!
Saint was everything. Even down to the way he humbled himself and got his woman back.
The sucker in me felt bad for Jordan. But Cameron really lost his damn mind
I really enjoyed this series
Random thoughts as I read:
Loitering on their own porch... how does one do that?
When Zola first got to Saints place, he said Angel was his youngest sister but when they got back from the store and were looking at his family pics, he said Heaven was the youngest
Eww I rather be funky than use someone else’s deodorant
Darius may not eat ass but he’s hella funny I’m glad he had Zola’s back.
So in the beginning I wasn’t t really feeling Zola Patterson. Is it really fun to be single and on the dating block? I don’t know how I feel about the sleeping around aspect.
She finally found someone to get her off of her dating block and get to her feelings. So proud of Saint!!! Finally glad she found a connection that she could turn into a relationship.
And this quote or letter that she wrote at the end is my new motto and one that I will be using and swearing by in my life.
“Dear Shannon… I think you know the answer to your question, but you need to hear someone else say it.” “There is a distinct difference between someone who fits you in during their free time and someone who frees their time to fit you in.” I shook my head. “I completely understand the struggle of dating a busy man. I understand the struggle of being the busy one. But if you’re in a relationship with someone, you have to make them a priority. They don’t have to be your only priority. But they have to be a priority. You said you’re not happy. Sis… cut your losses. Life is too short for you to be unhappy. If you’ve talked to him and he’s made no changes, if you’ve put in the work and got nothing out of it, cut your losses. If you’ve done everything you can do to make it work and it’s not working, that’s not a rough patch. That’s just not for you. I know it’s hard to let go of people you’re attached to, but you have to take a step back and look at it for what it is.” “I don’t know this man and I don’t know what circumstances constitute a rough time in his life. But what you’ve described sounds more like you’re his girlfriend when he wants you to be, but he’s never your boyfriend. But it sounds like you know this already. It sounds like your feelings are holding you back. You have to live with your decisions so I’m not going to tell you what to do. But if you’re asking me if you should stay and see if it works itself out or if you should go, my vote is for you to go. Healthy relationships require two active participants.”
“I wanted to cook for you first.” He leaned forward, sucking on my bottom lip before he continued, “But again, I will give you anything you want, Zola. Tell me what you want… and I’ll give it to you.”
THE WAYYYYYYY THAT I WILL GIVE UP MY MAN FOR THIS MAN. NO CAP. im kidding......
No but really, this was a great way to conclude the story of Zola and her single life because Saint came through and did the impossible.
I didn't mention this in my review of the first book, but listen. Zola's neighbor Darius had me HOLLERING. The way they went back and forth with each other and their jokes? SO FUNNY. I don't even know how my neighbor didn't come punch me in the throat from the amount of laughter that was coming from me while reading this duet.
This book picks up right where book one left off and it was so beautiful to read. I was smiling like Saint was talking to me whenever he was whispering sweet nothings in Zola's ears. *swooon* But the thing with these two is that they both have things in their past that are challenging their current situation. Saint has been hurt before and doesn't want to go through that again. Zola is being thrown signs that cause her to be conflicted, but never about her feelings for Saint.
It's a whole thing and just know the outcome is my favorite. I recommend this 100000000%
We get to see more Trenton and India in this book and I WAS HERE FOR IT. You don't have to read the Hot Holiday Hookup Series to read the Zola Duet, but I strongly encourage it because you get to see where those couples are now.
The Single Life 2 picks up exactly where part 1 left off. If you think part 1 was the setup, let us assure you ... IT WAS! Part 2 was a knockout worse than the one Nate Robinson received leaving us screaming in our Snoop Dogg voice — Ohhh Lawdddd! Let the Saints say amen!
Zola faces the double-edged sword of the single life. What happens when people’s feelings get involved and dating just isn’t “dating” to them anymore? What happens when Zola questions her own rules and heart? Tough decisions must be made. The issue then becomes when the dust settles will it be too late to correct the miscues and mistakes?
Whew! The steam in this book will have you clutching your pearls and your man! We have an idea what it is: that darn BLACK PEPPER SAUCE! (If you know, you know). Aside from the sensational sex, part 2 opens up the realities of past hurts and how they make such a deep impact on one’s present life, if it isn’t addressed. In the end, it shows how imperative it is to speak your heart and to follow it because rule number three... when you know you. Danielle DELIVERED on this book. A definite must read!
Zola was juggling and coming to terms with mistakes, endings and new beginnings.
Cam had me scared for a minute because those pop ups were getting more intense. Add to the fact that he couldn’t take no for an answer and he was determined to change her mind. Also the changing of her mind to him involved her allowing him to change it with sex since she let him slide the last time. If it wasn’t for Darius petty tail being there he probably would’ve physically assaulted her or worse rape. Jeremiah was easy going, he didn’t put up much effort or fight, but we didn’t really see how she broke that one off. She had some tough decisions to make, old stuff and baggage to deal with, as well as loss. So many things affecting her decisions but I was rooting for her tho. The ending was intense. I was screaming “say something girl! Speak up! Fight for it!”
I truly enjoyed this book. Shows you can be single and date effectively but the only person that can deal with your s*** is you, and that on Darius who needs some ovaries, lol!
Zola received the best gift ever when she met Saint. Zola is my kind of freshness in a female. She refused to compromise her beliefs to please a man. True, Zola had some daddy issues with her father's death and dealing with the loss. Mostly, Zola lived her best life. She could not account for the men having a problem with her choice to remain single- until she met her one. Saint threw Zola off-kilter; this made it easier to see why her confusion led to doubt for a miligleen of a second. The Ph.D. was pompous, and I did not like his cocky style; Jermaine and Cameron needed to move on. My favorite character was Darius- on-the-stoop with his back and forth bantering with Zola. They had me ready to laugh with each encounter. Zola's single days were numbered the minute she met Saint. I enjoyed getting the chance to meet this amazing lady and her merry music lovers and mischievous maidens.
So, I knew part 2 would be good, since Part 1 was so good. Ms. Allen did not disappoint. My review of part 1 was short, but that was so I didn't include spoilers. You can forget that here. Zola got her a man at home! There was so much about Zola that I could relate to in book 1 that I was just overwhelmed. We all want to be with someone that we like and vibe with and to have the most amazing sex of our lives, but sometimes it doesn't work out like that. Knowing what you want from someone and getting it are two different things, and Zola knew how to get what she needed from the men she dated, until she met Saint. Not only does he tick all her boxes, she is forced to realize that he is everything and then some. The interaction in both books between Zola and her "dates" is sincere and at times hilarious. I enjoyed both of these books and rooted for Zola to make Saint "the one".
Ha ummm I’m actually speechless, I love this story so fucking much WTF
Holy fucking shit, I didn’t think this could get any better but it 100% DID!! When Zola & Saint finally got together? Fuck it was so damn HOT!! Kitty butterflies on 10 million idk how Danielle Allen wrote their chemistry so freaking good It was literally leaping off the pages and suffocating me man it was so intoxicating and addicting.
Honestly this is that type of love you dream about and hope to find one day. That instant connection you can’t deny it even if you tried to. They just meshed so damn good together.
When shit started to hit the fan my heart hurt for them both bc i wanted them to be together so badly but they needed to get over that hump together and I absolutely LOVED the ending they got.
If you’re scrolling through these reviews to find out if you need to read this. Yes you do.
This book was not only one of DA’s best but it also had so many gems in it. From the character development to the advice she gave, this book was more than just an escape from reality. This book makes you think about the decisions you want to make for yourself. It was also so relatable. While my single life isn’t like Zola’s(my bad for not living my best single life lol) being able to see some of my experiences in this work is gold. Getting a different perspective on the single life is rare. I loved everything about this book and Saint is definitely a favorite!! I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!!
Rule number three: When you know, you know! I loved everything about this book. It was a perfect example of "everything has a season." Zola's adventures with being single were fun and on her terms. She enjoyed what many don't get to enjoy regarding dating; therefore, when she was ready to settle down, she knew what she wanted from that person. This was a perfect guide to dating and the perfect ending to transitioning into a different stage of our lives❤.
First, this didn't need to be part 2. Parts 1 and 2 make a whole book. Loved the banter between Zola and Darius. Hilarious! I was a little thrown that Zola was so surprised and confused over "the thing." Frankly, she met someone who was in "that field" so "the thing" wasn't out of the ordinary. That storyline just didn't flow for me. Now, had the thing come from someone else, sure. Overall, loved the story. Would have liked it to be one book and slightly longer
I'm do glad I finally got to reading this series I love a good love story and this is one and I will say I thoroughly enjoyed the back and forth with Daruis & Zola man that there was hilarious. Daruis was so dang nosey but funny as all get out now lets talk about Saint whew sexy I think that's my new book bae lol oh and let's not forget about Jeremiah him and Saint they know how to talk that talk with that said I'm gonna end this because some of the characters in this book have some stories to tell but I was being grown and read this series first.
A perfect conclusion to this duet. Part 2 is all about Zola and Saint... or is it? We see Zola and Saint coming together, parting, and coming together again. Jordan and Cam are not happy with being brushed aside and Cam proves Zola right through his absurd actions. It's great to see the annoying neighbor be useful for something, even as he and Zola continue their practice of insulting one another on the regular. And ultimately, both Zola and Saint have to decide if they're able to overcome their separate pasts and the hurts they've endured to be together.
I don't know how Danielle Allen does what she does but I am so happy to have come across her work. Anyone who can mention professor olglevee and Derek Shepard within seconds of each other is the type of person I can chill with lol That is how Ms. Allen's writing style comes across to me. The characters are super relatable and well thought out. I enjoyed this too much. I forced myself to read it a bit slower and it still ended too fast.
I love Zola! She's unapologetically Zola. Shes excellent at giving dating advice. But there's Saint and he makes her feel different. Wow what a fantastic story of the single life dilemma according to Zola. This was a good roller coaster read that had me laughing and crying. This author never seems to disappoint. I'm a fan for life!
Part I will leave you in awe of Zola, who seems like a goddess on Earth. Part II is the roller coaster ride of confusion- Is it love or is it lust? Is it Dad approved or self seeking? Is it loss or gain? This is the hardest part of The Single Life. Join the ride.
She is a hero! I love all things Zola and Saint. Their banter back and forth was funny and real. I loved her ability to say exactly what was on her mind and speak what she wanted. This was a great wrap up for the hookups. And why they playing, that was Darius’s GF that wrote in about her BF not eating *ss! LOL!
I may sound repetitive but this author has definitely mastered the craft of designing love stories that will have you swooning wishing it was your own reality. Could Zola, the single life expert, cast her fears and embrace love and relationship? Oh when Saint came through she had no choice. This was so good!
I enjoyed part two a tad bit more than the first installment. Maybe it was because I could relate to this one much more. What do you when you think you’ve come across someone that makes you ready to give up the single life? Do you fight it or give in? I think quite a few women will see part of themself in Zola. And, Saint...Oh my word!!! Y’all need to read this just to meet fictional Saint!
Zola was content with her single life and juggling men as Saint called it until he showed up to deliver art pieces purchased from his sister. Zola couldn’t deny their instant connection. She had met the one! The story flowed from the beginning to the end perfectly! Danielle tied everything together so gracefully as always! Great read!
I was excited about the beginning of Zola's relationship to Saint. The author illustrated a picture in words on how past relationships can mess up present one, if you don't fully forgive and heal from them. You have to first love yourself and the Lord will take of the rest in his timing of course.
Synopsis: continuation of book one about Zola Patterson
My thoughts: SAINT ANDERSON!? THIS MAN!? OOF SO GOOD OMG!! I also really loved Zola being honest with herself and why she didn’t want to be in a relationship, and she made the write choice for herself!
Just when I think I have found the book boyfriend that can’t be topped, Danielle Allen gives me a new one. I love how her characters love so hard and so fully. The spicy scenes have so much passion and intensity. Zola dates several guys but when she finds the one, it is undeniable.
4⭐! I loveddd the ending of this - it gave me that warm, fuzzy feeling I want out of a romcom and Danielle Allen does these so well! I adored their journey and the process that Zola went through to decide on her ultimate partner was so emotional to witness. I think if the parts were put together in one book, I would probably rate 4.5 overall!
