Immensely impactful story.
I have really been enjoying this series. It is really great at making me laugh and cry. This novel was no exception.
From the title, it's pretty obvious this is not going to be a fun read and it's not. There are plenty of happy moments. Lots of laughter. But you know there is a train wreak coming and there isn't much you can do to stop it. The author really doesn't hide it. At least for me I thought it was obvious what the tragedy would be. So it wasn't a huge surprise. Normally I would be so disappointed in an author for doing this. What a way to ruin the surprise. But in this case, it's a blessing. Even knowing what's coming, it's heart wrenching experience. Damn, even now a day later and I'm still chocking up when I think about it.
I am not normally a big fan of the "relationship" or "romance" genre. They just don't hold my interest. This series has been the exception. I don't know if it's because they run so close to my own life or what but when I start reading one it's hard to put down.

“Why are you so nice to me?” I asked him wiping at my tears.>
He ruffled my hair and went back to putting my clothes in a bag.
“You mean you haven’t figured it out yet?”
I shook my head.
“I’m your fairy godmother, bitch. Get used to it.”
"Greatness is always met by hatred. The true test is overcoming it."
I in no way want you to look at these clothes as a backhanded admission that you might have been a little right.
These clothes count as your second wish granted. The first was me agreeing to be your fairy godmother, of course.
Your third and still unspoken wish is still under consideration.
“I can imagine far worse things in the world to be, sir.
An intolerant, inbred, hate-spewing hillbilly comes to mind.”

“I was wrong. I was wrong about everything. I have six months before I leave this town and go to college.”
He paused for a moment before he asked, “How do I fix Foster?”
“You want to change this town? Show up with Kyle on your arm and force them to accept it”
”Gone was the shaggy-heated nerd who had stalked the halls, invisible. In his place stood a sharp-looking, vest-wearing stud who took my breath away.

Brad and Kyle 4 ever!

“I love you. That isn’t a like, isn’t a puppy love, and it isn’t a crush. The moment we kissed in my room, I was yours; it just took my stupid brain time to figure it out. You are everything I need in my life, but more importantly, you are everything I will ever need. I am never going to break up with you. Never. If we break up, and, God, I hope that’s a gigantic ‘if’, it will be because you realized I was not the guy you thought I was and that you can do better. So no matter what happens between us, I will never break up with you. Got it?”
"For some kids out there, what is in this book is their real life.
There are kids out there right now walking around thinking about killing themselves. You may never know it, they may never even let on about it, but they are seriously thinking about it.
Your story is as, if not more, important than the one you just read. You cannot let the people whose hearts are filled with hate beat you down. You just can’t. We are all people, and we are all deserving of respect. And you can’t let anyone take that away from you. Ever.
Then let me be a magic Kindle for you, if only for a few seconds.
You’re going to end up just fine.
Don’t give up, not yet.

There’s nowhere I can get lost in like a book, not even a good book, just a book will do it for me. Books are safe, they are comfortable, and above all else, they are not me. I like not being me for a little while. It’s refreshing.
