Finding a missing co-ed is the kind of case that led Melanie Randolph to quit the FBI and start a detective agency––one that might help her get over the death of a childhood friend whose murderer was never caught. But the logical steps she takes to locate Cynthia Anderson are not yielding results. The girl’s roommates don’t seem to want to help and people at the college don’t think it’s their responsibility. Then the girl's SIM card shows up in the city dump.

The summer of 2020 I published a memoir entitled "Left to Right." It's the story of my transition from a student leftist in the 1960s to a conservative in the 21st century.

This is a Private Investigator Mystery. The main character, Melanie is a PI, but she use to be a FBI agent. I have to say I really loved the mystery parts of this book, but I have to say that I did not think the characters where really developed. This book is driven by the storyline/the mystery not the characters. I wanted to care more for the characters, but I really wanted to find out what is going on with both the case the PI is looking into. Overall, I enjoyed reading this book and felt the mystery parts kept me wanting to read it. I won a kindle edition of this book from a Goodreads giveaway, but this review is my own feelings about the book.
After quitting the FBI, Melanie started her own detective agency. The girl’s parents want to hire her to find their daughter. Finally, a case!
Why would Cynthia not answer her cell phone? There’d be no reason for a young girl not to…unless…
The progress was diplomatic and inquisitive with some lag and sentence infractions. Evidently, this missing case might’ve had something to do with racial protest. Complexity overlays the mystery as Melanie digs deeper into campus policies, political protests, and ethnic historical data. It started off interesting, but then it slowed down.
This is a nice little mystery involving a missing college coed. The plot is a little different since it involves current racial events as well as small collegiate facility politics. It also introduces a new and interesting black female private detective. This adds up to a pleasant read and the promise of more stories in the future. I won a copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway for this honest review.
Love, love, loved it! Love that fact the leading lady was black and independent! Working in a “white mans” world. She handled her own. She’s a newly Private Investigator and in dire need of clients. Her partner bailed on her and now she drowning in bills. A case she asked for, and a case she received.
A girl has gone missing and her parents are distraught. Melanie is hired on the spot. She’s going to do her best to find this girl to not only get paid but get her name out there to gain more clientele.
Until the parents fire her and turn to the police department instead.
I don’t want to say too much and spoil it for everyone but it was a very good story. Could definitely be finished in a day.
My only problem was the story felt like it was going in circles at one point, as if the author wanted to prolong the story in a way, which I didn’t think was necessary. Some fluff that the story could’ve did without. Also the story was pretty predictable but I still enjoyed it nonetheless.
Quick mystery read. This is comtemporary book that deals with important issues such as BLM and inequalities between the sexes. The main character is one that you might want to read more about.
This is the first book I have read by this author and will look for more from him. I won this from Goodreads, or I might not have picked it up. Thanks
I enjoyed reading this book and getting to know the main character, a PI named Melanie. A missing college coed is her main case, but she also has an interesting second one. I liked the character and the story kept my interest. I am hoping this becomes a series. I won this book from Good Reads, so thank you and this is my true opinion.
This is a quick mystery read about a P.I. investigator searching for a missing college girl. It has some unexpected twists. Main characters could have been developed more. But a good story line. I would definitely read more books from this author. I won this on a Goodreads giveaway for my honest opinion.
I almost gave this 4 stars, as the author is pretty fair, though a bit more tightening up on characterizations would be good. But the biggest reason I only gave it a 3 was the lack of good editing by the publisher.
