A solid book on how to introduce business and entreprenuerial concepts to kids that are not only useful to understand business but to instill a deep sense of creativity and self-sufficiency. There are a wealth of "actionable items", some involving actual Project Based Learning, but also small, simple conversational elements that can be introduced and talked about.

The weaknesses of the book are that it sort of valorizies some shaddy business characters as people we ought to try and emulate. Also, while the book has a stated intention of trying to have us raise kids to solve the world's pressing problems through business, nowhere in the book is there much ideological ammunition to get kids to actually care about the environment or human rights for example, but a lot of anecdotes on how to simply make a buck.

I still find the book a worthy read, as I do want my kids to think with the freedom, initiative, boldness and creativity of an entreprenuer, whether they become entreprenuers or not, and the book offers a ton of ways you can guide a kid in that direction. I find it a good counter-balance to the more socio-political education they are getting from their time at their private Community School where they learn more about activist strategies to solve problems.

I've just finished reading this book and I thought it was an excellent resource. It's packed with ideas for people who want to raise their children to design their own futures. Contains lots of case studies from famous entrepreneurs like Richard Branson, Elon Musk, Jo Malone, Oprah. Offers plenty of ways you can encourage children to be more creative, to take more responsibility for their own direction, and to learn that if you can think it up, you can probably create a business from it.

Reading it I found myself thinking of Ken Robinsons famous TED talk about whether schools are killing creativity. Following the traditional model, children learn, then go on work experience, and are focused still on obtaining a degree, and following a linear path.

Jodie and Daniel provide any parent who wants a different path for their child, a wealth of direction and suggestions for how to access that.

A very refreshing and inspiring book. If you're a new parent with young kids, go grab this book.

Even as an adult, I've learned a lot from it. If only I had known earlier at a young age (right?).
But, no regrets. I'm just as grateful to found this gem, so I can raise my kid better.
