About the author

Lisa Bevere is a Christian author of the books Lioness Arising, Nurture, Fight Like a Girl, Kissed the Girls and Made Them Cry, Out of Control and Loving It! Be Angry but Don't Blow It! The True Measure of a Woman, and You Are Not What You Weigh.
In addition to speaking at national and international conferences, she is a frequent guest on Christian television and radio shows. Lisa is also the cohost of the weekly television program The Messenger, which broadcasts to 214 nations. She and her husband, John Bevere, also a best-selling author, make their home in Colorado with their four sons Addison, Austin, Alec, and Arden.

Funny story: I actually got this book for $1 prompted by a social media post from Lisa Bevere. For years now I had girlfriends say that it’s good and I should check it out but I never did.
Now fast forward to June 2020. I read through it and felt like I was being washed once more by the blood of Jesus. The prayers that are inserted into this book are simple yet powerful!
Just thinking about it makes me want to read it again!

This book wasn’t for me personally, but I am sure this would be great for a young Christian.
The book offers daily devotions which take no more than 5 minutes. They are based upon one scripture usually and provide a simple sentence and prayer at the end reminding you of how you are strong in the Lord.
Personally, I just need a bit more biblical depth, which again is just personal preference. I really couldn’t make it past day 7. I skipped ahead a few days to see if there were other days which may encourage me to continue, but didn’t continue.
If you’re looking for something short and sweet with relatable personal anecdotes, then this is for you. If you’re looking for something with more depth of scripture that may take about 30 minutes each morning, it may not be for you.

This was pretty beautiful and encouraging all the way through. I ended the last 2 devos today (my birthday). I started it on Jan. 1 this year, but I misplaced the book a few weeks, and then I was just doing other things.. lol. I used it as part of my Daily Thankful list. I named 4 things, and then the last one was the end of a devo "I am strong [when/because...]." that was helpful as I was in a lot of anxiety.

Anyway, the content is really on point. The one near the end about her second son's little fit of "No, I'm not gonna" felt really relatable. D: oooof.

4.75/5 estrelas. Eu amei o livro, amei as mensagens passadas. Minha única “crítica” é que gostaria que alguns dos temas fossem mais bem explorados e aprofundados, senti que alguns capítulos foram muito editados, cortando e resumindo muito para caber em duas páginas - mas entendo que esse é o modelo de devocional que a autora quis trazer. Muito feliz que essa foi minha primeira leitura do ano, e pretendo ler mais da autora. Recomendo muito!

Lisa is one of my favorite Christian speakers and working through this book really helped me. She doesn't stray from the word of God but also knows how to give insight and guidance with gentleness. One of my favorite parts of this book was the short prayer at the end of each day's devotion. I highly recommend this devotional and I look forward to reading some of her other books!
