Colt is living the dream. Surviving off the land in the remote woods of Montana, he’s king of the mountain. His mountain, thank you very much. When there’s a misunderstanding about his annual gingerbread order, it’s just more proof that he’s better off in his forest cabin, alone except for his tom cat, Avalanche. Then disaster strikes and puts Ember, the curvy new owner of the nearby small town’s only bakery, in mortal danger. Suddenly, Colt finds himself rethinking everything...
This is a cute, fluffy read. It’s enemies to instalove. It’s not super Christmas-y but it does involve a Christmas time gingerbread delivery to one grumpy mountain man.
The yay: I adore enemies to lovers and this definitely falls into that category. Grumpy heroes are always fun. While it wasn’t over the top CHRISTMAS, it was still Christmas and it was a nice, fun story.
The nay: In the beginning the h makes her way up the mountain in a car not equipped for the terrain and impending blizzard. Mr. Grumpy Pants is rude and runs her off. He almost immediately regrets it but I would have preferred he be to concerned for her safety to let her go. Even when he regrets it he doesn’t go looking for her until hours later. Novellas are purposely shorter and I do enjoy them a lot but there was a bit to much “telling” and not enough “showing” here.
Overall, while it was perfect it was still a nice read. If you like Christmas, instalove or enemies to lovers I think you’ll enjoy this story.
Story 3/5, Heat 1/5, Angst 1/5
Slow burn but novella length so it doesn’t *feel* like a slow burn. They get busy at 70%.
No condoms, no virgins, no manwhore, no OW/OM drama, some push away from H at first, no breakups or separation. No cheating, no sharing, no cliffhanger and HEA with epilogue.
He is swinging his axe anticipation for his gingerbread from Nonna. Only he gets an unwanted guest with her own version on gingerbread and out of shesr stubbornness he turns her away into the winter and icy roads. Two hours later makes a call and thr news will haunt him forever id she is hurt or worse. What he finds chills his blood and heats his soul. This had just the right amount of heat and sweet. It is an excellent way to spend an hour or so. I'm not a huge fan of instalove, which this book had. But overall it is a great way to spend at an hour .
Gingerbeard Man by Poppy Parkes is part of the multi-author A Mountain Man Holiday Short Story series. This is a sweet and spicy Christmas themed romance between Ember and Colt. Just like with real gingerbread you will devour this book as fast as you can. Ember is a curvy beauty who has taken over the local bakery in town which was a dream she had. Colt is a big, handsome and sexy bear of a man who stays away from most people and lives in a cabin up the mountain. Colt has his reasons for being a recluse as his parents died when he was young and he was raised by his beloved Nonna. He does not want to get close to people that knew his parents as it is too painful. But every Christmas his Nonna sends him gingerbread which he looks forward to. But this year he gets something very different in the form of a special delivery by Ember. Ember is completing all the orders which were left by the previous owner and that includes delivering gingerbread to Colt from his Nonna. But when Colt sees Ember he is not pleased and basically tells her to to away. As Ember is driving back down the mountain on the icy and snow covered roads she ends up skidding off and hitting a tree. When Colt finds Ember he knows he did wrong and so he takes her back to his cabin and you can guess the rest..........well maybe not completely so Happy Reading!!!
I really loved Poppy Parkes' writing and story-telling styles. She brings a depth of emotion to characters and stories which is lovingly wrapped up with sweet HEA's all in novellas. With Gingerbread Man she does not disappoint. This story is just delicious and sinfully sexy. A RECOMMEND READ!!!
Ember is delivering an order to Colt as per the lady she bought the bakery from. She drives up the mountain and it's snowing but when she shows up at Colts house he sends her away as she didn't bring the gingerbread cookies he wanted. Ember turns and leaves. As she goes down the mountain her car hits black ice and hits a tree and now won't start so she gets gloves on and other stuff from the car as well as the gingerbread. She starts walking and it seems forever that she's been walking and she stops to rest and closes her eyes for a few minutes and the next thing she knows she's waking up to a gingerbeard man. Colt went after her only to find her laying in the snow out cold literary. He takes her back to his cabin and he makes sure she warms up properly. Once she wakes up fully she realizes she has no clothes on under the blanket so she goes poking for clothes. While looking for clothes Colt comes in finding her sniffing his clothrs.. This is the moment he knew. She felt the same but was going to show him instead of telling him. Colt gets her back on the sofa and this is where things heat up. She still owns the bakery but does most of her baking out of the Cabin's kitchen with her husband by her side.

Colt has been living alone on his mountain for a few years after using his money earned as a best selling author to buy it. He is mostly self-sustaining but there is one thing he has no problem ordering from town. He loves Nonna's gingerbread. He is waiting for this year's delivery but it is getting late and assumes it will arrive the next day. To his surprise just a little later a car not meant for winter mountain travel pulls up to his house. A beautiful woman named Ember gets out. Ember has to explain that Nonna retired a few months ago and that she bought the bakery. She was there to deliver his gingerbread but since Nonna didn't make it he sent her away.
Ember loves to bake but she is new to this rural mountain life. She was very excited to see Colt because he was big and sexy and she loved his gingerbeard. After Colt sent her away, she was carefully trying to return to town. She quickly found out her car really wasn't meant for winter on a mountain when she came close to sliding off a cliff. She hit a tree instead. Now she just has to get back to Colt's before she freezes. Lucky for her Colt was feeling guilty and was out looking for her

I really enjoyed this book. Poppy for some reason always makes me reminisce of things past. I had a Main Coon cat Jyoji and he was such a big boy. He would always ride and sit on my shoulder. Thinking about Avalanche just reminded me of my Jyoji-boy that I miss so very much. Ember and Colt’s story was very sweet (no pun) haha. It started off rough and rocky but that soon turned into passion that was very unbridled. Chemistry was off the charts and the world building was nice for a short novella like this. I would love to read more of these mountain men books from Poppy, she has such a way with characters that she just brings them to life that only a few authors can do in my humble opinion. She’s one of my favorites. I did ding .5 stars for this because the ending was very sweet, especially on Colt’s end but I think as a whole it could have been better. I’m such a ham and I would have loved to see certain things that didn’t happen. Without giving away spoilers. But that doesn’t detract from this book. It was very well written and I truly loved it. I know for a fact that you will as well! So pick this one up. 4.5 stars from me.

Poppy Parkes' fabulous contribution to the Flirt Club's Christmas-themed The Mountain Man Holiday series - Gingerbeard Man - is a steamy, sweet instalove you will not be able to put down. Colt and Ember's meet-cute is not your classic love-at-first-sight - though both acknowledge quickly that is exactly what it is. But it takes Ember being in peril and Colt coming to the rescue to really bind these two together. Colt, quickly dubbed her "Gingerbeard Man" by Ember, is a hot, alpha mountain man who would make any woman swoon; Ember is super sassy, and the perfect match for the reclusive author. Together their chemistry is off the chain, and this engaging instalove mountain man romance is the perfect yummy Christmas treat.

This hot little number will have you warming up by the fire.
Colt has loved up on the mountain for most of his life. Loosing his parents at a young age, he does not like the looks the town folks give him. Although he does not go into town often, he does have a standing order for gingerbread. So when someone drives up to his house not with his normal order, he sends them back down the mountain.
Ember has purchased the towns bakery, when she make a delivery for a standing order, she did not expect this Gingerbeard man to be so gruff, but there is something about him that make her heart stop.
Colt and Ember's story is fast hot with a bit a drama as the storm comes in that keeps you turning the pages.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Colt is a romance novelist who lives in the mountains away from civilisation where he doesn’t have to deal with people. The only contact he has in the town at the base of his mountain is Nonna’s bakery, where he buys the best gingerbread cookies. He is expecting a delivery from Nonna, but is surprised to see another lady. He tells her to go back to her shop when he learns that her gingerbread is not the same as Nonna’s. Before they know it, they are both in the cabin after an accident and they discover they have feelings for each other and they decide to stay together and have their happily ever after.

This story is a short one and unfortunately despite being quite good it suffers from the shortness. There is very little room for any actual storytelling, background information or anything more than just space to describe and tell about a very few days in their lives. Sometimes authors can write them in such a way that you do not really feel that you are left out even though you are just from the shortness of a story, but unfortunately this story is not quite one of those. It is, however, quite well written and I enjoyed reading it so all is not lost at all and I am giving this story beautiful three stars.

Trigger warnings Loss of parents
Colt bought 20 acres up the mountains to be away from people. His earnings from being an author paid for it, but so does his body through all the hard work he does. He places 1 order a year for delivery gingerbread, and this year's order is late. When Ember shows up, it's all wrong but not. She's the new owner, and she's driving an unsuitable car for winter mountain roads. He sends her away, only for her to crash her car. Will he find her in time to save her from freezing to death?
Babies were brought up in thought but never talked about. The epilogue didn't have children, and nothing was explained.
This was a awesome book! I loved Colt and Ember. They say opposites attract and in this book it appears that they did! Ember is light and funny while Colt is all grumpy and growly. These two have a chance meeting but neither can get the other off the other of their minds. Fate decides that they need more of a push after Colt blow the first time and push these two back together. Colt goes total alpha on Ember and even though Ember is independent, she loves it and only sassy him a little which Colt loves. These two are perfect for each other and they get a wonderful HEA. I would recommend this book and Ms. Poppy as an amazing author!

Mr. Grumpy Gingerbread Man. Cole is happy by himself up on his mountain with his cat for company and no one else. He's looking forward to his gingerbread from his Nonna. But he doesn't get that he gets an unwanted guest with her gingerbread to give to him. Cole tells her to get lost and as she's trying to get back to town in the icy winter roads she end up hitting a tree. Ember hopes that she's close enough to Cole that she doesn't freeze to death. In the meantime Cole feels bad and when he finds her he feels guilt for sending her away. Loved the characters and the chemistry they have. Highly recommend. I really enjoyed the book in the Mountain Man series. Colt lives on a mountain and is waiting for a delivery of gingerbread from his favourite bakery owner. Unbeknownst to him, Nona has retired and sold the bakery to Ember. Ember arrives to deliver her gingerbread to Colt in a car that can’t handle the winters weather conditions. Colt is rude and grumpy toward Ember and she takes off down the mountain. When she ends up in the ditch and starts hiking to get help things get worse. Will Colt be able to save Ember and convince her they belong together. Great story with a yummy Christmas theme. I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Colt lives in the mountains by himself with his cat. He always gets gingerbread cookies from Nonna in town. This year, Nonna didn't make the gingerbread cookies, Ember did. Colt doesn't like that and turns Ember away to drive back down the mountain. Hours later, Colt decides to call Nonna's number. He gets the bakery Ember mentioned and discovers that she has not returned yet after the delivery to his house. This is a sweet, short read. Ember manages to freeze and unthaw the ice around Colt's heart. I love that the author made both characters vulnerable at some point in the story

Ember is the new owner of the bakery. Colt is a mountain man that keeps to himself. Colt does not get his gingerbread from his Nonna, but it is Ember. He makes her leave and then she gets in an accident. He feels bad. The chemistry is off the charts and their interaction is wonderful. This is just a fabulous book. I loved the characters and how they are just wonderful together. This is a must read holiday book.

Colt is a mountain man who's gingerbread order is not at all what he expected because it's someone else delivering it to him. Ember is the new owner of the bakery and from the moment they meet there's something there and they can't get the other out of their heads. This is an opposites attract, holiday romance between a grumpy mountain man and the friendly baker. This insta love story is filled with mountain man drama, a bit of danger, romance and it is a great addition to the series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Colt is a mountain man that isolated himself with his tomcat Avalanche and the only luxury that he allows himself are the gingerbread cookies from Nonna. But when his delivery is due he find out that Nonna is retired and that a beautiful woman full of curves and sass bought the bakery and has an entirely different recipe of gingerbread. I thought the title was a typo error but from reading the book it’s accurate, the ginger and the beard. Nice way to play with words.
It’s a love-at-first sight story between our Mountain man who happens to be a romance author and our baker and they are talking about this book as their very own love story. Kinda think of it, if it is, it’s sweet and I like Ember’s view in life.

This was a quick holiday read with memorable characters. The plot was decent but not too much thinking is needed for it. It is a good break from the day to day madness of the holiday season. The characters were great and memorable. I found myself zipping through this read.
I give this a four out of five stars for a quick holiday read with a fast paced plot and memorable characters.

Colt was a true mountain man. He rarely went to town and was self sufficient. The only thing he could not do is bake his gingerbread like Nonna the baker in town. Once a year he would go into town and get his yearly supply. But this year there was a new person delivering his gingerbread and she was the new owner of the bakery ! This is the love story of Ember and Colt. Enjoy !
The author has pulled us into the lives of Colt and Ember, and never lets go. She heads up the mountain to deliver a package and meets the grumpiest man around. However, they have an attraction and after saving her from freezing to death, they just know that they belong together.

Loved the characters of Ember and Colt, I liked her feistiness and Colt being grumpy and overbearing. This was a great love at first sight short story, with a good backstory. A nice ending of this unexpected couple and the changes they bring out in each other.

Enjoyed reading the story of Ember and Colt. Colt, the gingerbeard mountain man and Ember, the new owner of the town's bakery shop. You could say he's set in his ways and you'd be right. It didn't take Ember too long to break through. They made a cute couple. Thanks for such good entertainment, Poppy. Written by Cindy :)
Sweet and spicy, like a good gingerbread. A fun holiday romp in the mountains with a spicy but sweet mountain man. Colt and Ember's mistaken meeting combines all the right ingredients to make a delicious holiday romance recipe. There is enough character development to keep the reader interested but the story still skates along at a good pace and is a quick, fun read.
Ember makes her way up a mountain to deliver Colt's gingerbread order only to be met with his grumpiness and him sending her away. When her car crashes she had to hike through the snow back to Colt but quickly succumbs to the cold only to be rescued by the sexy mountain man in this entertaining tale.
