Very often with a box set, or a longer series, you expect at least one duff read, but Kitty Thomas is the Mistress of writing gripping, twisty, shiver inducing reads that are very wrong but oh so right.
This is the TL:DR version of the reviews of each individual book below.
I read these out of order, starting with the final book first and then books #1 through to #4. So I knew what and where Vivian was and could guess at the whys and wherefores. And that didn't impact my enjoyment one little bit because Kitty Thomas writes with such passion, mystery and depth that I always find myself engaged by her characters. Even the ones I love to hate.
This set is at times dark and disturbing, at times sexy and NSFW and at other times frustrating but always captivating. Some characters I hated and grew to love, some I loved until I decided they were prime bottom holes (I'm looking at you Gabe, and if you smirk I really WILL throat punch you, just like you deserve), some had my emotions switching like the toss of a coin, *cough* Anton *cough*. However the sheer pleasure and emotional release, fulfilment and satisfaction each heroine achieves by being with her tetchy alpha male makes all the rest worthwhile.
The subtitle of all these books should be "Kitty's Version Of Happy Ever After Where The Heroine Gets What She Needs."
Book 1 is all from Vivian's pov and is a story of letting go of your worries about what society considers normal and giving free reign to your sexual desires. It skates the edge of dubious and non-consent, because truly how can you consent to Hobson's choice? However is it really non-con if you secretly want and love it?

Book 2 is Mina and Brian's story. It's the most unconventional love story of two individuals who can not be fixed but who somehow hold one anothers broken pieces in place. In contrast to book #2 it's very low steam but I didn't even notice that until I read reviews by others. The story just transfixed me and I didn't want to put it down.

Book3 was where I discovered what a donkey's bottom Gabe truly is. Selfish, self centred, self serving, just self, self, self. However Julie was so amazing I was happy she was happy, so throat punching of the obnoxious POS that is Gabe was avoided.

Book 4 was the least consensual of the books and the most compelling. At one point I made a note of "this scene just feels like too much too soon". I should have known to trust Kitty Thomas, because she already had plans for that! Boy is she Queen of the mind flux, Empress of the kink. Do I like Anton? I don't know. Do I love Anton and Annette? Indubitably.

Book 5 was Lindsay's redemption and Shannon's reward. This book has a big twist and I do hope others don't spoil it. Like several others from this box set, it's a book that I just couldn't put down and led to a very late night (or early morning!)

Guilty Pleasures was absolutely phenomenal!
Vivian and Michael are a couple stuck in a rut in their marriage and a therapist is recommended from there.
Broken Dolls was well written and with phenomenal characters! This storyline was so unique and filled with so many twists and turns, I could not put this book down!
Broken Dolls was well written and with phenomenal characters!
Two broken people, Brian and Mina, are introduced at the Pleasure House. They both are scarred and afraid of relationships, they don't believe that any relationship is good, which makes them feel unworthy.
This story is all encompassing in it's ability to make the reader feel sorry for the monster, and to feel angry at the rescuing angels.
Surrender
This Pleasure House tale focused on Gabe and Julie. This couple meets in a bar and Gabe finally asks her on a date only to realize she is too innocent for him. They part ways but then the unspeakable happens to Julie.
When Gabe sees her again he cannot believe what she has been through and takes her to Pleasure House.
I loved Gabe's patience and kindness with Julie, but he was also demanding enough to stay true to himself, and make sure Julie follows his expectations.
A fabulous story and series!
Pretty Lies
This was wonderful to go back and hear the beginning of how Pleasure House came to be and how Anton and Annette's journey began.
Anton is a hot Russian who oozes charisma and confidence. Annette plays a dangerous game when they meet and she lies and paints herself as someone she definitely is not. And those lies are very punishable.
I loved hearing how Phyllis and Shannon came to be in the house.
Twisted Fates gives us Shannon and Lindsay's story. And what a delectable story it was.
It ran through all of the emotions, fear, lust, anger, and happiness.
I loved Damian! He was a great addition to this story. And I absolutely loved the appearance of Quill and Saskia!
Brian has somewhat redeemed himself with me in this one, still not a fan of him!

This story is all encompassing in it's ability to make the reader feel sorry for the monster, and to feel angry at the rescuing angels.

This Pleasure House tale focused on Gabe and Julie. This couple meets in a bar and Gabe finally asks her on a date only to realize she is too innocent for him. They part ways but then the unspeakable happens to Julie.
When Gabe sees her again he cannot believe what she has been through and takes her to Pleasure House.
I loved Gabe's patience and kindness with Julie, but he was also demanding enough to stay true to himself, and make sure Julie follows his expectations.

Pretty Lies
This was wonderful to go back and hear the beginning of how Pleasure House came to be and how Anton and Annette's journey began.
Anton is a hot Russian who oozes charisma and confidence. Annette plays a dangerous game when they meet and she lies and paints herself as someone she definitely is not. And those lies are very punishable.
I loved hearing how Phyllis and Shannon came to be in the house.
Twisted Fates gives us Shannon and Lindsay's story. And what a delectable story it was.
It ran through all of the emotions, fear, lust, anger, and happiness.
I loved Damian! He was a great addition to this story. And I absolutely loved the appearance of Quill and Saskia!
Brian has somewhat redeemed himself with me in this one, still not a fan of him!

I highly recommend this series and to read them in order. The author has the talent to flesh out her characters' traits and personalities in a way that you would be able to connect with each one of them. Each book in this series deals with different type of relationship from characters and there's depth, rawness and has a solid back story to back up each of them.

Why purchase each book separately when you can get them all in one collection? Trust me, you'll be happy you did once you start reading one story, only to want the rest immediately!
The first book, Guilty Pleasures is the perfect intro to the Pleasure House. When Vivian's husband sends her to a therapist, not only does her minds get worked, so does everything else. Here is where we meet the Dom's and get a better understanding of what's to come in the House.
The second book, Broken Dolls leads you deeper in to the House where Mina struggles to find a Master that understands her, breaks her and then puts her back together. But will we love Brian?
The third book, Surrender will be a battle. Julie wants one things while Gabe is adamant on getting what he wants. Who will break first?
The fourth book, Pretty Lies just might be my favorite. When a phone sex operate teases the wrong man, her life is literally turned upside down. Now to right a wrong, she has to make a deal with the devil. But is the deal really THAT bad?

Guilty Pleasures is a deliciously sexy as sin romance! This book had me hanging on every word and not wanting to put it down!
There was a huge twist to the story. I just kept thinking, what if while I was reading and it did happen the way that I wanted the direction of Guilty Pleasures to go. This book was 5 stars all the way! I loved it!!! Be warned that there is a little taboo thrown in. But then it wouldn't be a Kitty Thomas book if it didn't have it. Now on to Broken Dolls, book 2!
Broken Dolls is the second book in the Pleasure House Series. All of these stories in this series can be read as standalones. Although, I do recommend starting at the beginning with Guilty Pleasures.
I stayed up late to finish this book! I couldn't put it down until I finished reading Broken Dolls.
This is Brian Sloan’s and Mina Calloway’s story. Wow! What a story!!! Brian is a guy that I didn’t want to like. I found that my heart went out to him. Even though I didn’t consider him a doll and I know that Mina was considered a broken doll. Brian is broken too.
I considered Brian a monster. He actually loves Mina and tries to save her! Lord knows he spent a lot of money for Mina! I found myself loving Broken Dolls!!! Another 5 star book!!! I am looking forward to reading Surrender next. It’s Gabe’s story!
Surrender is book 3 in the Pleasure House Series. You can read this book and the whole series as a series of standalones but I would think if you do that you are missing out on the stories of the other characters that play important roles. This is Gabe Griffin’s and Julie’s story.
I have loved Gabe the best out of the others that we have been introduced to in the previous books. I am not alone in that opinion after reading Surrender. Gabe does have some a-hole moments though. Julie was an innocent and then she was broken. Gabe rescues Julie but to what kind of life was she rescued too. Yes that is vague but I don’t want to give anything away.
This is another book that I couldn’t put down. I am loving this series and I am glad that these other characters spoke to Kitty Thomas that they needed their stories told too!
The next book is Pretty Lies, book 4 and is Annette Waincott & Anton Volikov’s story.

I am hooked on the Pleasure House Series. I know that I am getting close to the end since this is the 4th book and there are only 5 books in this series. In Book 1 we got a start of all their stories and a friend of all the owner’s, Michael. So far we have had Anton, Gabe, Brian & bits and pieces of Lindsay’s story. I don’t want it to end! This has been dark erotica at its best!!!
Twisted Fates is the 5th and final book in the Pleasure House Series. This is Dr. Lindsay Smith and Shannon Foster’s story. Brian (part owner of Pleasure House & resident sociopath) destroyed Shannon’s chances of ever getting sold. Now 8 years later is where Twisted Fates starts. Shannon is tired of living the way that she has been. Always afraid of what others think about the damage that Brian did to her. Lindsay ends up saving Shannon again.
I have really enjoyed reading this ENTIRE series! I couldn’t keep my mind on anything else other than reading and what was going on in these books! I honestly can’t say which of the books in this series is my favorite because I love them all! Each of these books can be read as standalones and they can be read in any order. I have heard they are coming out in a box set! What a wonderful way to read this incredible dark erotic romance. And you never know who may show up in another one of Kitty Thomas’ books!
At the end of Twisted Fates there is a sneak peek into The Con Artist and guess what Saskia Roth shows up in Twisted Fates! So that is why I say you never know. Of course Twisted Fates is a 5 star read!!! I love this book and series!!!

The depth in the stories and the characters is truly amazing. There is nothing in these books I would endorse in real life. She often has kidnapped victims in her stories. There is also a lot of coercion in her books. I would never ask for any of her books to happen in real life, but as a fantasy, her books are pretty interesting, and extremely erotic. I've read many of Kitty Thomas' other books by now and found I enjoyed how deeply she delved into the psychological aspects of her characters. It's not a thing every author does, but given how dark the story can go, or how extreme, the internal workings of these people she's creating is more important to see. It's something she's very good at.
Each book stands alone, and I've read them wildly out of order, but it didn't impact my enjoyment whatsoever, and each book follows a different characters arch. The others may cross into it at points, but they all blend nicely, while still maintaining that ability to stand alone. Having read them all now, I still think Pretty Lies is my favorite, but all of them are good, and I can definitely see me returning to these books for a good re-read in the future. They're like good movies, you notice new things with each new reading.

What a fabulous collection of books. Each one is set at the Pleasure House, and features different couples, but it's fun to run into people from the other books and see them again. If you haven't gotten the pleasure of being reading Kitty's books yet, this is the place to start. It's a great price for all 5 books, and even though they are loosely connected, they are completely stand alone as well. I think this is one the best worlds Kitty has created, and believe me, she has come up with some outstanding ones. I highly recommend this series. After reading the first book, with that surprising ending, you will be hooked. And while the Masters could be considered "bad" guys, they really aren't. Except Brian. Beware of Brian!

Oh boy, I'm not even sure how to put my feelings for these books into words that make sense. I'm a big fan of this author and I'm so happy that I've been able to enjoy many of her books but of them all, I think this series is my favorite. Each book brought it's own unique touches to the series as a whole. Boundaries are pushed and limits stretched to the max. And now, you can get the them all in a convenient box set! It doesn't get better than that.

This has to be the ultimate boxset. Five books of Kitty bundled together?! Best thing ever! What makes everything so much yummier, you don’t have to wait for each book to come out. They are altogether here.
Guilty Pleasures – Vivian was, not my favorite person. Rich, bored trophy wife, and sex is a chore. Her husband suggests a therapist for help and so reluctantly she goes. I remember reading this for the first time. What an introduction to the Pleasure House and its members! It’s quite a journey for Vivian as well as for us readers. Little did I know it would continue on.
Broken Dolls – Mina keeps ending up with the wrong sadistic and abusive masters. She gets help from a therapist who makes her on offer to find her a good master. In the Pleasure House she meets one of the trainers, Brian, who is once again one of those sadistic and abusive master. She’s broken, he’s has a dark and brutal past. But something about her calls to him… YIKES!!!
Surrender - Gabe meets Julie who has different 'wants' than his. Domestic bliss and a white picket fence? Too innocent, then too broken? Surrender has a bit of a love story-ish feel to it, something rare in this series. And the ending, of course, left me wanting more.

I’ve always thought Annette was just one of the girls they’ve brought to The House to train and he fell for her. Nope! There’s so much more than that. A twin sister, a trade, a sacrifice. In fact, I feel their story can border almost on a love story. I think this is the one book in the series I was the most excited to read. Not only is it Anton and Annette story, but it is the prequel, the beginning of the Pleasure House. OMG!
Twisted Fates - Until this book, I had completely forgotten who Shannon was. Lindsey of course I remember, but when it came to Shannon…WHO? Don’t worry because there are enough reminders to bring you up to speed. I felt like this whole non-series series was building up to this book. Consider yourself lucky to have all these books together because you may find this final story.
I know Ms. Thomas likes to say each book is a stand-alone and can be read in any order. Blah-blah-blah! Take it from a longtime fan, to get the full effect of the books in the Pleasure House world, then need to be read in order, preferably back to back. This was the first book I read from Kitty Thomas. It was not the last. Let me tell you this. Once reading this book I continued not only this series but I have read every book she has written! I have never been disappointed.
I say that Kitty Thomas books are a Genre of their own. Not quite romance but yet... you have to read it for yourself to see what I mean. I love the way Kitty draws you into the story. You can feel the emotions and really connect with the characters.
The Pleasure House series was dark and at times made me mad, but, then I couldn’t and didn’t want to put them down. I would have to say this was my favorite series. Which book was my favorite? Which couple? Hmmm… Each time I read the next book I swore that couple was my favorite. But honestly I don’t think I can pick. I literally love them all!

These books are so freaking addictive. This is a great way to buy all the books in the series without having to wait to get the next one and it is awesome that it is cheaper then buying them separately. I will admit I read the first one and sucked it down faster then i thought i would. And usually after I read something kinda dark I need a bit of a break. But I barely started another book and realized I couldn't get this series out of my head! I dropped the other book and jumped back into these and before I knew it I was finishing the last one and was almost sad that I was done!
I seriously love this series and I highly recommend if you like this author. She also is really good at giving you a bit of a twist in her books. Which I always look forward to seeing what they are!

This is an amazing, exhilarating, at times heart stopping, and most definitely panty-melting box set 🔥 You get all 5 books in the series which is so awesome! No waiting, just go straight from one to the next. Each man has their own way of training the ladies of the house, some more intense then others, some not as intense, and some down right dangerous. And there’s not a single one you won’t fall for in one way or another (trust me - I SWORE I would never like one of them - and I broke down and felt something for him anyway lol). Trust me when I say, you NEED this COMPLETE series all in one!!

Absolute perfection! All four books were amazing; Guilty Pleasures, Broken Dolls, Surrender, and Pretty Dolls. Each book is equally as great as the last. Once you read the first book, Guilty Pleasures, you will be hooked. All books can also be read stand alone but what would be the fun in that?! This is a phenomenal set of books at a discounted price right at your finger tips. It don't get any better than this! This boxset is a must read and I highly recommend!

The Pleasure House series is by far one of the best series that has been written. I say series but it isn’t one per se, each book could be read individually, the things that connect each book together is the Pleasure House where you leave your old life to start a new fulfilled life. I recommend this box.

This book like most of the books by this author is dark, twisted and oh so HOT!!!! Kitty's writing is incredible and her characters are so well developed. The best way I can describe books by Kitty Thomas is that they make me feel uncomfortable, but in the best way EVER!!!! I would highly recommend this book, each story stands on it's own with the Pleasure House being the connecting part.

I had read a couple of the books in this set, but not all of them. They're all so good!
The chemistry between characters was great, seeing different sides of the characters in each book was so good, and the stories kept your interest until the very end.

October 4, 2022Do not waste your money on this book. I purchased it from Book Bub, meaning it was inexpensive, but even that was too much money. I won't even give it one star. It's not the sex; it's not the kink; it's the unimaginable cruelty that takes place throughout. Admittedly, I only really read about 100 pages and skimmed the rest, but I can't believe it got any better. True garbage.

Guilty Pleasures: This is the first book in this series. It features Vivian Delaney. She leads a life of leisure but feels trapped and unfulfilled. Unable to find satisfaction with her husband he sends her to a therapist. Who then sends her to a masseuse. Who traps her in a situation where she is satisfied but guilty. This leads to her being tricked into signing herself over to the Pleasure House. She will be trained and sold to a new Master. Throughout this odyssey she can only blame herself. But her new Master makes everything alright. I was on the edge of my seat reading this. What a wonderful conclusion. I can hardly wait to read the next.
Broken Dolls: This is the second book in this series. It focuses on Mina Calloway, a submissive who has been abused and scarred by untrained Dominants. She has been seeing a therapist who is part of the lifestyle. He convinces her to enroll at the Pleasure House. And promises to find her a gentle Master who will respect her boundaries. Instead she meets Brian Sloan, the enforcer and disciplinarian of the house. All fear him including Mina. But Brian has a tortured past and scars of his own. Something within him connects with Mina. He decides he is the only on who can protect her. He walks into an auction where a Japanese man has offered an unusually high bid for an untrained submissive. Brian recognizes that there is something off about this man. So he bids an even higher number to protect her. But then they develop tender feelings. They are both confused and make many errors of communication. Can they work out a balance of their needs? Will Mina come to love her monster? Or will they both shut down? But soon after Julie is kidnapped and forced into prostitution. Six months later Chance brings Gabe to Julie. And he swears he will get her out. But she makes a run for it. It takes a lot of money to save her life. And now she has to decide if she can ever fit in his life. Is she too damaged? Does Gabe have the patience to help her? This is a fantastic look at the choices we make and the choices we have no control over. Plus this is a very steamy romance. I can hardly wait to see who falls next.
Pretty Lies: This is the fourth book in this series. It features Anton and Annette. Annette is a phone sex operator. She makes a living telling pretty lies. She meets Anton at a club and she spends the night telling him of her fantasies. He believes her and kidnaps her the next day. Only he kidnapped the wrong woman. Her twin sister. She agrees to be his pet if he will let her sister go. When he realizes that all the tales she told him were lies he lays Don the law. He will not tolerate lying and he demands respect at all times. Things get very intense and she finally learns her lesson. But then she witnesses something horrible. She plans to escape. But can she go back to her old life? Can Anton let her go? This is a great example of miscommunication and misconceptions. Their passion is off the charts. But will that be enough to get them through her trauma? I can’t wait to read the final book in this series.

Finally, we have the Pleasure House collection. I will say this series holds a special place in my heart because Guilty Pleasures was not only one of my first reads by Kitty but also made me a fan of dark romances. All 5 books in the collection highlight the relationships between our Pleasure House Trainers and their lovely pets *wink*
I was initially going to give the rundown of each book and what I loved about them but I'm going to gush about the 2 books that I went in determined to hold a grudge against 2 of the most terrifying leaders of House, Brian (Broken Dolls) and Lindsay (Twisted Fates). Where Brian is transparently monstrous, Lindsay is stern and unpredictable while seeming safe and unassuming. Both of the characters do unforgivable deeds and somehow Kitty makes them sympathic characters. You still fear them but you have compassion for the lives they have lived.
Brian and Mina are my absolute favs in the whole series. Brian is a psychopath and Mina in her way humanizes him (but omg if you are not her, please don't test that man). He doesn't lie or hide what he is not to himelf, Mina or anyone and I think that's why I loved him. The development of Mina throughout the series was unexpected but oh so fantastic.
In Twisted Fates, we have Shannon and Lindsay. The infamous Dr. Lindsay Smith, our not quite so friendly neighborhood kink psychiatrist. This man has made huge mistakes and caused problems that it was actually harder to forgive him at first than Brian. Brian had a more solid reason for his behaviour. When he finally puts his foot down to FINALLY do something about Shannon, I was hesitant and bullheaded. She was this brave, lovely but lonely girl that I wanted to hug her and fight her dragons but since one of those dragons is Brian, I cant help her there. Please don't judge me *cries* But it was fantastic reading about them and there are some special people that pop up in this that definitely buttered me up more.
A fantastic collection to own and read. Every single story brings something to the table. Kitty Thomas never disappoints.

I read the first book awhile ago and was intrigued. This is a weird world of men who say they help women fulfill their need to be owned, but many of the women the form relationships with are forced into it.
5 men start a house to sell slaves to rich men. These 5 stories are about their personal slaves
Vivian is married to Michael. There’s something missing in their relationship so he sends her for massages to help lose her up. These turn out to be erotic massages. They help her relax, but when she wants to stop, he says he’ll blackmail her and tell her husband she’s cheating. She agrees to keep going with her training.
Mina has been severely abused by her previous masters. She just wants someone to care for her and not hurt her. Brian is very unlikely as he’s a psychopath and lives to torture women to get back at his stepmother who abused him years ago. He sees himself in Mina and wants to protect her
Gabe and Julie have been flirting for months. They go out and he decides she’s too innocent for him so he disappears. She unfortunately gets sold into sexual slavery and dreams of Gabe rescuing her. By some luck, he finds her and buys her. But now she’s a prisoner in a nice place and treated well, but still a prisoner.
