Dixon Ranch #1

The Cowboy's Home

Rate this book

Winning her heart won’t be easy…but he’s never been one to back down from a challenge.

Drew Dixon is down, but not out. His injury certainly didn’t help his bull riding career, but after he spends some time recuperating and helping out at his brother’s ranch, he’ll be more than ready to get back to the rodeo circuit. Romance was never part of his plan. Then he meets the single mom next door and starts questioning everything…

Becca Adams isn’t looking for love, either. The only thing on her agenda is being the best mom possible to her little girl. And if that means signing her up for horseback riding lessons with the ridiculously attractive Drew, so be it. Drew is everything Becca isn’t—wild and carefree. She can’t afford to get attached to him…no matter how much she wishes she could…

Soon, Becca’s torn between guarding her heart and giving it to the cowboy who has invaded her thoughts. But will the cost of trusting Drew—and love—be more than she’s able to manage?

The Cowboy’s Home, book one in the Dixon Ranch series, is a clean and wholesome, small-town contemporary romance featuring a rugged-but-sweet hero and a wary-but-hopeful heroine who is stronger than she ever realized. Happily ever after guaranteed. Download today and get ready to do some binge reading.

Christina Butrum has done it again! The Cowboy’s Home is a wholesome sweet small town romance. I thoroughly enjoyed every page!

Becca Adams moves home to Woodford Creek where she will have support from her mother while she heals from a bad marriage. Her sole focus is on raising her little girl, Allie. She has no interest in falling in love again. She went that route once. After her divorce she is afraid to trust men.

Enter Drew Dixon, a rodeo bull rider who has moved home to the family ranch to heal from a near fatal injury after being thrown from a bull. He has no interest in romantic involvement. He just wants to heal and get back on the rodeo circuit.

When Drew agrees to teach Allie to ride a horse, he is instantly captivated by the adorable little girl. When he meets her mother, he finds her equally captivating.

Ms. Butrum has a talent for creating characters that seem more like friends by the end of the book. The wonderful part is that this book is the first in a new series, so I will get to to visit Woodford Creek again. This series connects to the Maple Glen series, one of my favorites, so I also got to revisit old friends from Maple Glen. I’m looking forward to visiting Woodford Creek again soon.

I recommend The Cowboy’s Home to anyone who enjoys sweet, clean romance stories. You will want to read the Maple Glen Series too.

This first in a new series takes us to the country. The kind of country where the cows are tearing down the fence, the horse keeps running away, the screen door slams and there's lemonade waiting for you to drink on the front porch when you get back home. The Cowboy's Home takes you to the kind of country where the cowboys are real cowboys who ride their horses as well as their old beat pickups and the women bake pies from scratch. I loved every second of it!
In Drew and Becca, Butrum has given us two people at very different places in their lives, Drew returning to the family ranch to recover from a bull riding injury, and Becca returning to her Momma (let's say it all together--"Momma") to try to find her way in life after a hurtful divorce. The thing they have in common is their attraction to each other and the need for love. But is it too soon for Becca?
This was a sweet, clean romance that took me back to the gravel roads and the hay baling of my teenage years, and the anticipation of that first kiss from the new guy in my life. The Cowboy's Home gave me the joy of new love with all the comforts of home!

I am pleased to write my first review of a work by Christina Butrum, and I must say that I am well pleased. There are many authors who work diligently to create stories that will pass muster with those who write reviews. Personally, I have a checklist I use as I determine the number of stars I will award in a review. It hurts me when I must, in all fairness, award less than three stars because I understand how much the author’s blood, sweat, and tears have gone into the creative process. Authors failing to meet my standards for three stars will seldom get another chance with me because there are so many talented authors to choose from. That is why I am so pleased to state that Christina Butrum met every standard I have on my checklist for a five-star review.

Other reviewers have more than adequately commented on the cast of characters and the storyline, so I will not add to that which has been written. Let me simply state that I welcome Ms. Butrum to my list of five-star authors and recommend her to my friends who appreciate reading works created by my growing list of five-star authors. I have already downloaded the next book in this series and look forward to learning how Garrett and Shyann reach their own HEA future.

Another awesome book was written by Christina Butrum, in her writing of this perfect small town romance story about a single parent romance.

Drew left his small town and family ranch in order to live the fast and wild life of the rodeo, only to later return home to heal from a bad shoulder injury he received while doing this. His brothers are angry that he's only there to heal and then leave again, not contributing or helping out on the ranch. This was his plan, but then things take a drastic turn when he runs into Becca who returned to her family home with her young daughter after an upsetting divorce.

Neither were interested in getting involved with anyone any time soon, so they thought. Christina Butrum has a magical way in her writing that makes the magic and love happen. This story relates back to her Maple Glen series, which was a wonderful series. She has a way in her writing that just draws you in to the story. You feel the love, hate, drama, etc. You will feel every emotion in all of her books in your own heart and soul. I seriously could not put this book down. Can't wait for the next book in the Dixon Ranch Series.

The Cowboy's Home~Dixon Ranch Series bk1 by Christina Butrum.

What an excellent start to a new series by Christina, who continues to write extremely incredible stories. Which has you not wanting to put the book down, and not wanting for it to end. The main characters in The Cowboy's Home are Becca Adams, just newly divorced returning to her home town to live with her mum with daughter Allie. Drew Dixon, a rodeo star who has recently himself returned home with an injury.

Needing a job, she heads to the Dixon Ranch to meet with Blake Dixon the eldest of the brothers, Allie attends riding lessons from the youngest brother Drew, yes, there are three cowboy brothers :) Will they find love and HEA? though they are not looking for love.
This book is extremely well written that has you falling in love with the characters and you feel that you too are there with them.
Looking forward to the next book. Please grab a copy you will not be disappointed.
Thank you, Christina, for this excellent book.

Drew Dixon returned to his family ranch to recover after a rodeo rotator cuff injury. Becca Adams returned home with her six year old daughter Allie after her husband cheated on her and wanted a divorce. She might not be healing from physical injuries like Drew, but her ex-husband did a number on her self esteem and emotionally on her and their daughter. She's repeatedly asked by Allie why her daddy isn't around and when he drunkenly comes back Becca starts to wonder if for her daughter's sake she should take him back. Becca is attracted to Drew, but she is worried about getting hers and her daughter's heart broken when he leaves to return to the rodeo so she keeps pushing him away. Allie and Drew are already strongly attached to each other and Allie has no issues with him dating her mom. She was an adorable well behaved child who loves horses. I thought it was funny that Becca begged for a horse as a child and then she wanted nothing to do with them. I liked Drew's brothers and I'm looking forward to their stories.

I have to say I have mixed feelings about this book. On the one hand, I think it’s one of the best she has written, on the other hand, I didn’t care as much for how some things were handled. I know that for many people divorce is a touchy subject, and that’s made all the more complicated by how common it has become. Putting the other participant in this book’s divorce aside, I really enjoyed the way the romance built for our two main characters and the inclusion of the little girl.

I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

SERIE DIXON RANCH vol. 1

Finding Love!

The Cowboy's Home: When Becca and Allied came back to where Becca grew up, she was not looking for love because her ex put her through a lot. Drew came home to heal from his ingury from the Rodeo. His big brother gave him a hard time for coming home because in Blake's mind all Drew want is to heal and go back to the rodeo and he does care enough about his family. Drew realize that there is more to life then the rodeo. When he met Becca and Allie his heart open up to other possibles. He realize being home was where he needed to be. It was a wonderful story and great writing.

Rodeo Cowboy Romance

The prodigal bullriding third son, Drew, comes home to heal with his older brothers, Garret and Blake who give him a hard time for using them as a pit stop. Enter a potential love interest in the person of the mother of a girl he’s hired to train to ride.

Drew may be a horse whisperer but Becca is even more skittish than a wild horse, her divorce having done a number on her self-confidence. The irony of a man who lives to work with horses and a woman who fears them, who is wild and free attracted to one who craves stability.

And as we reach the inevitable HEA I’m reminded of a Bacon Brothers tune: It Takes the Love of a Good Woman to Make You a Man.

Drew and Becca's story is the perfect start to this new series. You have a cowboy, who doesn't love them, who was hurt on the rodeo circuit. Becca, a recently divorced single mom to Allie. Both having to move home again to start anew.
This had me laughing and crying, being a single parent myself, I could feel Becca's pain and emotional turmoil as my own. Love it and definitely recommend.

What a sweet book! Becca is coming off a divorce and trying to figure out what her life looks like now. She knows the most important thing in her life is her daughter Allie. Drew is home recovering from a rodeo injury and only home long enough to do that. That is until Allie comes barging into his heart followed by a reluctant Becca. I adored Allie and her spunk. Becca, I wanted to sit and cry with and tell her not all is lost. Drew was my wild card but he proved himself again and again through his action and words. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

This was such a feel-good, heartwarming sweet romance. I was instantly captured by the characters and loved reading about Allie and Becca's story. Everything happens for a reason and that is exactly how their story plays out along with Drew and the ranch.
Loved the mentions of Maple Glen throughout as that is a Happy Place for me.

Drew and Becca had sparks to start. Add in her daughter who melted Drew's heart and you have a recipe for a great story.

Interesting story and has me wanting mg to see what his brothers do next.

Drew & Becca and Allie

Easy to read and an interesting romance/contemporary tale. Her characters were bold as life and made you feel like you we’re with them as each agonising problem surfaced but romance overcomes them.

Sweet Second Chance Romance

A very well written and edited second chance romance (for Becca). Good, well rounded characters added to every detail of the story, from siblings to mothers to children. A sweet faith filled storyline that keeps the reader engaged from the beginning through the final page of the epilogue. An enjoyable, easy to read story that I would recommend.

Clean romance

I LOVE that this story was squeaky clean the whole way through. There was a ton of description, and at times, so much I forgot what was last said. I loved the characters, and the story line was great.

A delightful western romance!

Strong yet fragile, kind and beautiful, also a great mother for her young daughter makes her a wonderful find for a wounded cowboy. His strong honorable approach makes him an ideal catch for her. It works and we have a wonderful romance to enjoy, thank you, Jack.

4.5 Sweet Stars!

This was a refreshing read that felt "real". I loved that both Becca and Drew went "home" to heal -each for different reasons. They have incredible Mommas that welcome them with open arms and big hearts. I loved Allie!!! I was delighted that this one revolved around the ranch and has real cowboys ❤ Looking forward to more from Dixon Ranch...

I love that this series branched from another one of my favorite series; Maple Glen and I can't help asking if we will see some Aunt Fran?!?!

This is my first book by this author but wont be my last that's for sure. She writes such a believable picture I was sitting on the porch right with them or out in the stable putting my hand out to touch Simon's nose. I love all of the characters in the book so I'm not going to name them all.Drew is the main throughout, Becca, Momma Dixon. The little kids are cute. I really enjoyed reading this book.

The fact that Drew adores Becca's daughter Allie just melts your heart. This story will have you going through so many emotions. What a great start to a new series. If you like clean, sweet reads you need to grab this one.
