You’ll never survive here, Princess. You’re weak. You can’t fight. You…don’t…belong.

I thought the hardest part of moving would be grieving my greatest loss. I thought wrong.

Dropped into a savage school with no rules where violence was king, I stood out like a sore thumb. But even if I ditched the button-down shirts and fancy loafers, how could I fit in when my new peers stared at me with cold eyes and darkened souls? These students practically begged me to speak so they could show me their pain.

All of which faded to nothing when I laid eyes on the beautifully cruel Colton Theroux. His derisive look declared I was lacking from our first connection. And when I refused to back down after a heated confrontation, he declared war. What followed was a game of hate that left me painfully exposed and raw.

His beautiful knowing eyes followed me wherever I went. His sexy smirk drove me insane. He wanted me gone, but with every cruel turn, I was only more determined to stay. For he didn’t understand, none of them did – the pretty princess they saw was nothing but a shell covering a soul just as dark and withered as theirs.

Hate me or love me, I would never back down again.

Will hate bring them together...or push them apart? Buy Hate So Bad today to find out!

♥♥♥

Hate So Bad is a hot high school bully romance. If you like romance with a little darkness, a little sugar, and a lot of spice, then this is the book for you.

★★★Author's Note - This book contains strong language, violence, and sexual situations some may find triggering.

Hi! I’m Nina. I love to read. Obsessively. No joke. Just ask my husband. I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. Pursued a graduate degree in Forensic Psychology in the great NYC and settled in Phoenix.

I’m an avid Elvis Presley fan, a Tudor history aficionado (or at least I like to think so), and a zombie/end of the world junkie, who happens to also be a sucker for a happy ending! Yes, I see the contradiction.

On those rare occasions when I am not engrossed in a good book, or writing my own, I can be found cuddled up to my furry companions (the dogs not my husband) and relaxing with my best friend (my husband not the dogs).

I love books across all genres and can’t seem to keep myself in a single lane when I create my own stories, so if it seems as though I can’t make up my mind, it’s because I can’t. Heh.

~Nina

This started out well for me. I feel like this was hardcore bullying, so be prepared for that. The bullying wasn’t just from Colt, the main character, but from his friends, guys and girls. Finn was once from the world of money, but also from a broken home. So imagine this tiny thing transferring to the worst school possible and sticking out like a sore thumb.

Finn’s and Colt’s relationship started out rough but heats up. It lives up to the title, Hate So Bad. Colt was a badass and I like that he was not your typical rich bully. The author had him fighting a lot, and that made his sex appeal more appealing for me. Finn, she was a loner, and she just could not get a break. You know how bad it is when she is constantly in physical fights.

I appreciate that this fully didn’t follow the formula for bully romance, not a prep or academy school, not rich and the worst school I’ve maybe read in bully romances. What had my enjoyment fluctuating was the constant fighting,, and this is only because it started feeling repetitive. At first you’re engaged, you like it because it’s different (don’t condone violence) but then it’s like I paid for an all day pay per view boxing match with none stop fighting. It was to where I started losing interest and then after a while it picked up again for me.

Overall, not bad, had a few moments it dips and then picked back up for me. Could possibly be triggers for someone. A lot of physical fights. Sexy chemistry between Colt and Finn once the animosity is out the way because it was good not seeing Finn always on defense with these jerks.

***I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read and hope this review was helpful.

New doormat author.
Her heroine is a weak, pity party doormat who can’t control her quivering private for the bully, no matter what abuse he throws at her. He even asked her to whore for him, but he’s just soooo hot so that’s ok.

H whoring out the h and she goes through with it, where she’s almost raped. This scene is right after the H fingered her. This guy obviously isn’t your jealous possessive H. 🙄

“you’re a girl, offer him a look at your tits, let him feel your pussy and you’re golden.”

I can only imagine a weak female writing something like this and calling it a good love story.

Not safe
H is basically with ow throughout the book.

DNF
I’m having such a hard time finding a decent bully story these days! Only doormats are writing these kinds of books. A bully story should always be paired with a badass h, so she can kick his ass with her smarts! That’s a satisfying bully story!

When a princess meets her pauper

I am absolutely struck by how great this story was. Literally I could not put it down. My first book from this author, and it won't be my last. This story had everything -- antihero, confident heroine, broken love, suspense, drama, and heart-wrenching feeling.

After the death of mother and the imprisonment of her father, Finn moves in with her aunt and attends Northside high school, a fairly underprivileged school at odds with her previously affluent lifestyle. As she attempts to fit in, Colt, king and bad boy of Northside, has it out for her -- and so does everyone else. Even while bullying commenced in earnest -- this book does not shy from its darkness -- Finn was attracted to Colt, and he to her. But bad boys don't change.

This story was told from the heroine's point of view and written cleverly enough as to understand the perspectives of other characters. Besides the compelling enemies to lovers theme, the plot line was underscored with mystery and secrets which held me captivated as this arc is set to continue in book 2. Typical bullying occurred -- misdeeds, elite jerks, their means girls, jealousy, betrayal, isolation, and the proverbial confidant, which evolved into strength of character.

Character development was phenomenal, each character portraying a depth and brokenness, demonstrating soulful feeling, at times disquieting. Particularly rewarding was Finn's growth that had me cheering her on. I was pleased to watch her reinvention from somewhat insecure to feisty, self-assured young woman, availing herself of alliances and any means necessary to strike back and not be broken. I was also pleased at the portrayal of Colt as an antihero, his behavior consistent throughout -- he did not soften -- even though it was apparent there was more to his persona. Colt was a broody, growly and often possessive character, just the way I like my bad boys. Supporting characters added to the story dynamics and really complemented the main characters and the absorbing events that took place in this book.

Smoldering chemistry between the main characters was tangible; literally the sexual tension and eventual love scenes burned the virtual pages of my e-reader. Other woman and other man drama contributed integrally to the tensions between these two and in the storyline.

The story felt complex, detailed, and appropriately lengthy, reading at an excellent pace, with a tenebrous undercurrent holding me captive.

An excellent story and marked as one of my favorites. Just engrossing. I can't wait to read what comes next.

Are Uuuuuuuuu Ready to Ruuuuumble!!!

Uuuggghhhhh this book! It was like reading what should have been an episode of the WWE! Seriously what’s with all the fighting? Even in a rough school it’s not that bad! Maybe Juve but come on! I absolutely despised and like this book. I wanted to DNF it on many occasions but I finished and the story was better at the halfway point. Colt and Finn though seriously there’s no chemistry, I gained no connection to the main characters. However as oddly as I didn’t truly like this book I was still invested to seeing what happened! So you can say there was something done right in where it drew me in to want to find out more. Like/Hate 3⭐️

Haven’t read a good bully book in a while

Wow... what a rollercoaster!!!

You see... most of bully books are getting boring, the same theme, the same type of characters, however, this one is a very pleasant surprise. The way how Finn grew as a personality, the way how she handled Colt and his BS. Wow... and actually most of the actions were believable. I do hope that Finn makes Colt run for his money in the second book, however, I do know that they might get their HEA. Sometimes, my sadistic brain wishes to get a book of bully romance where female heroine makes the guy suffer very much and actually does not give in at the very end. However, I love HEA. So let’s hope for their HEA.

I am really anticipating the second book!

Have you ever watched those B movies centering around a futuristic type highschool where the building is run down, kids loiter around in 80s clothing and there are fights everywhere which the faculty ignore? Something like Class of 1999 (minus cyborg teachers) combined with Tuff Turf (only James Spader would be the chick in this book). Ok, I love low budget B movies and the 80s/early 90s are FILLED with them! Anyway, THIS is that book. Only it’s not futuristic/sci fi or the 80s and there’s no young James Spader in it.

I really started out not liking it too much because it immediately fell into the category of “He treats me so bad and yet I can’t help but lurv him because he makes my body tingle” sort of crap. Finn shows up at what I can only describe as a dystopian high school where kids are fighting a la “West Side Story” (minus the singing and dancing). She immediately has the hots for the dick bully Colt. She gets badly beaten almost daily and hated on by everyone. Yet, she still tingles for the dick bully Colt who is the worst of the worst. Meanwhile, she’s dealing with a stalker and her own family drama (mom’s dead, dad’s an abusive felon serving a life sentence). I mean, why not. Let’s pile it all on! Until one day when Finn decides she’s done with the bullying and turns into an avenging angel as she body slams her way through the sea of bullies. I mean, literally. She body slam one chick, punches others and gets into several hair pulling contests (to which she thinks she needs to cut that sh*t off as it seems that her long hair is not working very well in all those b*tch fights). All the kids talk trash and flip each other off. The high school relationships seem over the top but to tell the truth, they actually are pretty valid and we’ve all either been there done that or been friends with someone who has.

As the story goes on, I have to admit, Finn made me laugh (it’s all from her point of view). From her dislike of the second hand smoke from her chain smoking Aunt Maggie, her observation that she shouldn’t have worn her tightest jeans (she had to lay on the floor to button them and again, I think we all know something about that at least once in our high school life) and that it only gives her a wedgie during yet another b*tch fight…the list is endless. Once I relaxed and started to take the OTT story in stride, I realized it was really damn entertaining. I liked Finn and when she gets her revenge at the end, it was pretty awesome.

HOWEVER, it does end on a cliffhanger and dang it, I’m gonna have to read it now to continue the crazy…

1000% my guilty pleasure of 2024. I almost quit at the beginning when filet mignon appeared as “filet minion.” But I’m glad I stuck with it! Our fmc Finn ends up in a new school on the wrong side of the tracks after a traumatic family tragedy. Enter resident bad boy/king of the school Colton who immediately “hates” her, while she’s inexplicably attracted to him despite this. He makes her life hell, along with the other girls at school, who believe they can scare her away. Cat fights are currency at this place! And occur several times a day lol, you get used to that. For a high school bully romance I thought it did what it needed to do! Maybe over the top at times but I felt the attraction, the push and pull between the mc’s, and the betrayals.

Did the author pluck a few choice words out of a thesaurus that no human uses in modern times and repeat them over and over again? Yes. However it didn’t take away from my enjoyment, even if I laughed a little every time I came across: perseverating, enmity, specter, twitterpated. It was a fun ride that also tried to have an underlying message about domestic abuse. An effort I applaud.

Weak story/drawn out/repetitive

This is a review of the duology which are Finn and Colt.

The writing is fine but the story is weak and goes around in circles with repetitive dialogue. The reason for the initial bullying was never provided. Then there's a sudden reversal by Colt towards Finn and then suddenly a U turn where he goes against her and then another turn towards her, it was a bit ridiculous in the end. How many times does Colt have to "freeze" out Finn? What exactly were the games being played - everything seemed to be a game and it was unclear why. The ability of the characters to switch between schools was dizzying - really, you can just pitch up at a different school at the drop of a hat? Colt's backstory seemed to be more for shock than anything else especially the "twist" with the stepmother. It was underdevelopped and didn't seem to really go anywhere

The story seemed to lack depth. Unfortunately I could see the ending and who the "fan" was a mile away and the climax was too contrived, like a bad horror movie.

Back at ya bitches! Yasss, what an ending!? For a change the bullied has done something bad to the bully then mic drop. I’ve read so many bully series with cliffhangers that ends with the heroine/bullied crying, broken, or hurt. I love the ending to this because Finn has unleashed her anger and slapped it in Colt’s face, consequences be damned! I also like her fire after Colt had embarrassed her and has gotten back with Sarah, wake up call is real! She’s stood up to him and gave as much as she got! Loved the banter after she grew her spine and put on her big girl panties... I’m still very curious as to who R is??? Can’t wait for the sequel!

This is a great book

This is a great bully romance book and I loved it . Unlike many of it's peers , this one isn't set in a rich academy with spoilt kids and their flashy lives . No this one is more real , more dark and definitely more sexy .
We get two sexy , no maybe three sexy male leads and a kickass girl to boot .
She's amazing and sassy . I loved Finn and this book made you want too . She's had it harder than most and the bully , Colt doesn't deserve her .
Yes he's strong, sexy and all that but I didn't fall hard for him like I normally do . I did love Hayden and Nate .
Overall a great first instalment .

Finn's dad (ex-pro footballer) murders her mother and is in prison. She is sent to live with her mother's twin, Maggie. On day one at the new school, she runs into Cole, who hates her on-site. Some elements in the story are typical of bully romance. What lessened the enjoyment for me with both this book and book 2 (Hate So Good) was that most of these characters act like they are in middle school, not high school. The "games" they play were childish and reprehensible. The stalker, IMO, had way too much power and control over people to be remotely believable. I enjoyed it overall, but toward the middle of book 2, I was anxiously awaiting the end. None of the characters are that likable.

I honestly don’t know how this book has sm five stars. The book isn’t good, there are like 14 extremely long chapters, no prologue, epilogue shows nothing, the whole duet was also only in female leads pov. The male lead is horrible, he bullies her badly n cheats on her after getting together, always playing with her and she’s a literal doormat. The whole duet is ab him sleeping, kissing with someone else and her panting after him😃🤢. Do not waste your time with this series, the whole i felt like the author was out of ideas n was writing the same thing happening again and again just in different font.

I have said this before, "I love High School Bully Romances." While Finn and I think alike, read the book, because my theory is not confirmed until the end of this book. I just don't know where this is going next. Yes, I will be purchasing book two. I really need to know what happens next. The chemistry between Finn and Colt is hot, but Colt is more frustrating than most male leads I have read before. I do believe that this trait only enhances the story. The spice isn't deep, but with all the bullying Finn takes on, it balances itself out. The bullying is primo, and sometimes, I wish it were a little less. How much is she suppose to take before she breaks. Nina, well done. Enjoy!

Wait, what ?

Nina Lincoln writes a lengthily, awesome bully romance. At first I was thinking Finn, girlll.....get a backbone its looking pathetic .....but then ...... So good....I like that there were a lot of turns to Finns story. I like a main character that builds on herself and gets revenge. And it's written so well, this most def was a stay up all night to read it , blow your mind, then reread the following day for those wait, what ....when did that happen? Ya just gotta read back.

The one without teachers.
No, but seriously. Where were the teachers?? This entire book is nothing but bullying and torture. Finn drools over Colt because he’s attractive. Never mind the fact that he’s literally the biggest asshole to her. Until one day he flips the script and is all about her. That’s not suspicious?
Oh but give it a few more chapters of his hot and cold behavior. A few more chapters of his secrets coming out and he flips the script again. Now she’s a big joke. Don’t worry…she’s still drooling over him.
Leaves on a cliffhanger.

I'm working in 5 hours and couldn't put this down!

The headline says it's all. I've not read anything from this author before but will actively seek more books from her out. Suspense, jealously, tension , mystery this book has it all I love Finn she's honest with her feelings and the writting really is fab. The book is littered with some lovely little moments phrased so well and some cuts vocabulary choices. I've been reading this for 6 hours solid -goodnight

Enjoyed this

While the bully romance genre can be cliché in place (and this book falls into that category in places) it is well written and I love the fact the the female protagonist fights back. I have more than had enough if the American apple pie sweetness where just the truth and goodness of the female lead shines through. In this book the female doesn't hold back her punches.

Hate so bad

First book to be read by Nina Lincoln. It's been awhile since I've read a bully romance of this magnitude, and let's just read I definitely enjoyed this one!! At first I was going to give it 3 stars because of how easily Finn fall for Colt but she won me over as she started fighting back against everyone and the person she loved. Definitely look forward to the next book.

Wow what a ride this book was.

This is one of the best books I’ve read this year. I honestly could not put it down at all.

Finn is incredible her resilience and courage is amazing and I was so happy for the way she stood up for herself.

I can’t believe what happened towards the end of the book and I cannot wait to read book 2 now to find out.

This was an incredible read and I can’t wait to see what comes next.

I’m not a huge fan of high school bully romances but this one was pretty good. Sucks you in. I read book and and two in one day. The chemistry between colt and Finn is smoking and the mystery around the stalker is not obvious. I was really impressed up until the camping trip. That part and the conclusion was not done well.

I enjoyed this bully read 🖤 Literally couldn’t put it down and stayed up reading til 4am🤦🏻‍♀️ I like how Finn started to stick up for herself and yet you still see her emotional side. I do wish she wasn’t all drooling over Colt because that gets really annoying like too much…but overall good read. Will definitely start the next today!

⭐️ 4.5/5

Loved the story and angst. It would be a full five stars if not for certain words being used too often like censured. Mostly, it wasn't too bothersome, but pair that with the unnecessarily long chapters and I part of my enjoyment was infringed. Otherwise, it was a suspenseful, bully romance that really sent me on a rollercoaster ride. Excited to move onto the second book

Wow this book is amazing! I don’t think i’ve read a bullying book that is as harsh as what this one was. Colt was awful all throughout the book really and i am hoping that Finn doesn’t forgive him easily for what he’s done.

I liked the beginning of this book. I liked the MC and it ended up just fizzling out. Not a fan of the douche. That’s what I’m calling him bc that’s what he is. I’m usually all for the bad boy even when he’s a jerk but this time I’m just like girllllll why????
