Rate this book
January Jaxson's settling into her life in Moonshadow Bay, and her new relationship with wolf-shifter Killian O'Connell. Her job with Conjure Ink is proving both fascinating as well as dangerous. But little does January realize that she's about to let the actual genie out of the proverbial bottle.

When she bought an old bottle in a thrift shop, January didn't expect to be purchasing an additional guest for her home. Now, with a distraught, drunken djinn on her hands, she finds herself promising to untangle an long-lost love story for her unexpected houseguest.

At the same time, she's thrown into one of the spookiest hauntings she's ever experienced when a local restaurant suddenly falls prey to a ghost seeking revenge. Will she be able to get rid of her houseguest and keep the ghost from killing his target, or will this job prove too much for January as she faces the big 4-1?

I absolutely loved this book! January is such an interesting, relatable character. I can’t wait to see how things will unfold for her and her friends. Certain plot aspects remind me a bit of Whisper Hollow, another series I adore. As always, the writing is incredibly immersive. I can’t wait for book 3!

January Jaxson is finding herself again after a disastrous marriage ends with her starting over, divorced, and living back in her hometown of Moonshadow Bay. Her job with Conjure Ink is interesting and she is enjoying her new relationship with wolf shifter, Killian, her next-door neighbor. But when she opens an old bottle, she got from a thrift store, she finds more than even she has bargained. A djinn needs her help and after promising to see what she can do; she vows to give him his freedom at all possible. But at same time, the case Conjure Ink is working on has them in wrestling with active, malicious spirits and more in a local restaurant. Can January figure out how to calm the spirits down and let them rest before they do more damage, or will she find that turning forty-one is just a wish and prayer as danger heats up?

MIDNIGHT WEB continues January’s story from Starlight Web as we get to know more about her, her hometown and her friends and family in Moonshadow Bay. I got to admit this series is definitely coming in a close third as one of my favorites of this author’s. The world building is phenomenal, and you feel like you are part of the story with January and the gang and with each book, you get to see more of the town’s secrets as well and more of the residents there. I love the characters in this series as they are all diverse, unique, and beautifully written. January is a curvy older woman starting over and I love how relevant she is to me. It made me appreciate her a lot more as well as her good friends and family helping shore her up when she finds herself insecure with herself.

Meet January Jaxson. Divorced and living back in Moonshadow Bay, she is finding herself again after her marriage went belly up and she came home with nothing but what she could gather. With her life in tatters, she finds a job at Conjure Ink, a paranormal investigation business and finds herself intrigued by the different cases she gets to check out and is enjoying making new friends with her coworkers. She also finds out the spooky case she is checking out is more than she ever imagined as spirits are up in arms and determined to hurt people. Add in a djinn who is now her houseguest for the moment and another small mystery to solve, well January has her hands full trying to figure things out before danger mounts and she provably bites the dust. I just adore January and find her extremely relatable. She is at times tough, tender, assertive and insecure. She is flawed but that is what makes her, in my opinion, so much fun to read and enjoy in MOONLIGHT WEB. All the characters are multidimensional and for me, January is the star of the show by far. Add in her relationships with family, friends, and lovers then you find a well-rounded woman who is finding herself again and that right there calls to me in so many ways. With this second book we see more of the strength that is inside of January as well as her connections to several people deepen and grow. Ms. Galenorn is a master at creating diverse, unique characters that fairly brim to life and step off the pages.

MIDNIGHT WEB delivers an action-packed ride from start to finish and lots of twists even I didn’t see coming. This is an author who knows instinctively how to captivate and enthrall her readers, so much so that they need more after finishing the book. I know I did, and I can’t wait for the next book in the series to be out in April though I want it now. So, if you enjoy an older main character that can kick butt and is soft on kittens, then this series is for you. I am really looking forward to seeing where the author goes in this new series as it is definitely hitting all my love buttons with each book.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement.

I thoroughly enjoyed this second book in this series and already know that January Jaxson is going to be a firm fave character of mine.

In this book, January is approaching her 41st birthday and having realised her life is so much better now that it was this time last year, decides to cast a wishcraft ritual with her best friend Ari. Only copious amounts of drink and food make her wish for things that had interesting consequences.

Throw in a djinn, a large group of malevolent ghosts for a very scary case, lots of unwanted male attention and repeated pestering from her ex husband, January realises that her wishcraft may not have been the right idea especially when not sober! With the snow piling up, even the trip into town becomes incredibly hazardous, but January has to do what she can to help those who need it.

A few secrets were revealed in this one as well as lots of relationship growth for both January and Ari. I am really liking how January is growing magically, spiritually and emotionally in this series so far. Her ex held her back from everything she was and everything she should be and I love how she can now be who and what she wants to be, guiding by friends and family too.

Straight onto book 3 now!

This is a good sequel. January is now embedded in her support system. At the beginning of the book January and her friend decide to do some pre-birthday wishcraft. Unfortunately, they get blitzed and can't remember what happened. January has an old bottle she got at an antique shop, which turns out to have a genie in it. The genie gives her three wishes and she wishes to be a sex goddess, to have a case at work that's a challenge, and for everything her ex-husband touches to burn. The next day men start treating her differently, she gets nasty calls from her ex, and a really tough case at Conjure Inc.

This is a good book, but I still wish the love interest, Killian, was a stronger character. He could be missing from the story entirely and it wouldn't really be different.

It's a Family Affair

January Jaxson is finally home. Not just physically in Moonshadow Bay, Washington but home in her body and spirit.
After a dreadful marriage of eleven years to Ellison, who helped her realize her dream of an Arts magazine in Seattle, he took over her life, the magazine, and had an affair resulting in their divorce.

January lost everything in the divorce, including her equity in the house and the magazine. With a used car, she returned to Moonshadow Bay to reside in her former parents' house.

Yasmine Galenorn writes you, the reader, into the book as if you were sitting with her characters.
And the magic is intense. Specters and Shadow Men blow through the scenes, frightening everyone.

I haven't enjoyed a paranormal series this much since I encountered Starhawk's writing in the 80s. Through the character Rowan Firesong, we experience powerful and responsible magic.

This series comprises 13 books. I'm so happy, I'm going to read every single one of them. If you love paranormal fiction, I highly recommend anything Yasmine Galenorn writes.

January Jackson is settling back into her home town even more, but with her 41st birthday looming, she and her bestie do a wish ceremony that goes slightly awry. With things spiraling out of control around her, will she be able to fix the things she helped amp up or will this be the case to end her burgeoning investigative career! Great plot with witches, wolves, ghosts, humans and more are all entwined in an exciting plot with a major mystery to solve. It is also intriguing to watch January learn how to control her magic. I am loving this series as it is humorous, intriguing, exciting and well written!

Midnight Web Keeps You Captive!

An utterly and wonderfully written book by Yasmine Galenorn in one of the new genres, PWF.
Make no mistake, women and witches over forty aren't to be trifled with, as they come with life experience and wisdom!
What a powerhouse of a book! I loved seeing January Jaxson 's character grow, as well as Killian, Ari, Teran, and Rowan. I also was thrilled with the newest additions.
This is a series that I cannot wait to read the next book... It's that fantastic!
Well done, Ms. Galenorn, on yet another outstanding book!

It's January's 41st birthday, and as all ladies who are newly divorced and moved back do, she had a drunken night with her besties. Only she doesn't realize the wishes she's making may come true. Her forty-first year is kicked off with a bang.. a djinn, a sexy wolf shifter boyfriend, and a haunting of a bar all combined with her ex trying to woo her back, at least as a personal Ms. Fix It. How does she handle everything and still make this her best year yet..? This book kept me up late to find out everything, and there is some juicy new facts we learn. Definitely a 5 out 5!

So the Journey Begins

January has a lot to sort out besides herself. Slowly, her magic wakes up but at a price, with magic you cannot be half in half out it is all or nothing no deviation no hesitation you must be sure if not you will get hurt. Why this series is marketed as “A Paranormal Women’s Fiction Novel” is almost misleading, drop the Women’s. This series matures so a correct byline would read “A Paranormal Fiction Novel” the story could as easily have a male lead and still be a great read.

Good Story

Loved the story. Loved the djinn. The heroine comes across as a real person, with real feelings, and some flaws, as we all have. What sticks out to me is wishing everything her ex-husband touches will burn. Then when he burns his business down, she takes no responsibility for that. Hmmm. Excuses, excuses. But the ex is an a** and this is fantasy, so I go with the flow.

Love it!

Midnight Web is a wonderful continuation of the series. January Jackson is such a co character. To read how she is evolving is amazing and her relationship with Killian. In this book we learn more about January that she didn't even know about. January and her new and old friends are really fun to read about and this is also a story about being careful for what you wish for.

After practically sprinting through book 1 of this series, I'm happy to say that book 2 didn't disappoint. January's character continued to grow, revelations were made, and her relationship with Killian was on pretty solid ground. The case they had to solve was totally creepy, with the addition of shadow people. Plus, there was a djinn, and that added an interesting element. I'm excited to see what comes next for January and the gang.

not your typical sophomore novel

There’s this thing. The second novel of a series dips. Generally it doesn’t have the same zing as the first. So I read with that in mind.

Turns out there was no need. Janus is back as the main character. No switching off to someone else’s story.

And I’m not sure how I can resonate with January any harder. She’s still finding her old self. And finding new relatives as well.

Definitely a great read.

The adventure continues

A visit with January is as satisfying as a triple mocha on a winter day. A woman starting over, she has much to do and experience.

The series is all the better for its characters and bits of whimsy and bitter bites of recovery from failed choices in the past.

One absolute truism, wish carefully.

As always Ms. Galenorn delivers, I love her books. January Jaxson is awesome, it nice to see a 40 something-year-old character enjoying her life and romance. Her job is interesting and dangerous, her love life is spicy and hot, and her life is full of interesting twists and turns, what more could you want in a great book.

This book is Amazing. Even better than Starlight Web, book 1. And that book was amazing too. Can’t wait for book three. And I love January Jaxson as well as all the other strong midlife female characters, even as they learn how to move and be happy through this next section of their life.

January is at it again, working at Conjure Ink and ghost busting.
A drunken Birthday ritual goes awry, and her wishes ,
all three are answered, with little twist added.
Then there are the ghost haunting a Bar and restaurant.
Scary stuff. And family secrets are revealed. Good read

Better and better

If I feel deep into the first book of this series, I fell harder into the second one, now knowing the characters better and liking them more. Somehow, I don’t think that this feeling will ease up with the next books!

January is an amazing woman, and her friends, aunts, and boyfriend are fabulous!

As for the big reveal: wow! I was floored.

Great 2nd book in the series. I enjoyed finding out about January's next adventures and I especially liked the whole "be careful what you wish for, coz you might just get it" life-lesson hidden in the text. Overall, it's a nice book for when you want to relax and take a break into a fantasy world.

One door closes ...

... Another opens. The author proves that ancient saying by setting it out in this book. As always, Ms. Galenorn writes an entertaining story. Another old saying that is the basis of this story is "Be careful what you wish for ..." .
