This manga is not very well known, as evidenced by the lack of a photograph in the above, but it is super cute. Those of you who know manga, let me just say that it's josei (which means working girl manga) and not shoujo (high school girl).
We have the main character h, who is 29 at the start of the book, and is a quiet, daydreaming type of girl with extremely average looks. She works in a big company in some sort of clerical capacity -- that is, of no particular importance. Her only claim to fame is her daydreams, which are incredibly funny and catches the attention of the new guy, who just transferred from overseas.
Somehow, this super sought-after guy, who is tall, with blue eyes (he's of mixed blood), and comes from a super-rich family (they hobnob with ambassadors and live in a giant mansion close to town) asks her out. It is not nearly so unbelievable because you as the reader know that he can read minds, and that he is amused by her daydreams and fantasies.
But the series so far (only 5 books out in Japanese, online scanlations 1.5 books) is far from being entirely focused on her. It takes in the viewpoints of all the characters, including his younger sister and brother, his grandmother, who also had the gift of mind-reading, and even his parents. And the way that the characters and their backgrounds are explored are sweet, thoughtful, and far from simplistic. The beautiful OW is not always evil. The plain girl is not always sweet. The scary mother-in-law is not as hellish as she seems. And it probes deep into the relationship between our heroine and the incredibly out-of-her-league hero and makes you see why he considers himself the lucky one.

Breaking my rule about rating an ongoing manga to say....THIS WAS TRULY AMAZING. Utterly laugh out loud funny and so, so adorably sweet. I want MORE.

Jatuh hati setengah mati dengan ceritanya yang unik dan para karakter yang out of the box. Terutama Kie, si wanita sederhana yang punya imajinasi luar biasa.
Setelah Sakisaka Io, Morimoto Kozueko adalah mangaka bergenre shoujo yang saya suka. Cerita cinta yang sederhana, jadi lucu dan refreshing banget di tangan mereka.

I think the story doesn’t have a big happening like other manga, but this manga is really really interesting! It’s because the characterization and exposition are very original! Kie’s daydreaming is sooo funny. And we can enjoy not only Kie and Mitsumasa story, but also his sister and brother’s own one. If you like funny and slow story, you must be fun of Koudaike no hitobito!!!

El manga en general tiene sus momentos divertidos, pero no da un cierre total a la historia que viene contando, es como si se quedara a la mitad de los problemas.

Still a bit baffled by what an unexpected gem this manga is, it seems the manga was popular enough in Japan for a live-action adaptation, but unfortunately not enough for an official English translated series. So, before I go on, many grateful thanks to the translator groups putting their effort and time into translating this piece of art and doing quite a good job at it too - especially since certain jokes are culturally dependent, they still made it funny for someone who doesn't know much about it. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
The storyline of the different romantic relationships of the Koudai family is a bit scattered in bits and pieces over the 6 volumes so it sometimes has this sketch-like feeling to it. But I quickly adapted to this rhythm and quite enjoyed it - surprisingly, it's quite more engrossing than I ever could've imagined. Sometimes, however, I would get disappointed as I wished to see a certain continuation of a subplot, only to find myself being flung into an ever more wonderful subplot.
All characters establish themselves very distinctly from early on and I just love how this manga shows that unattractive people can have so much more to them than meets the eye. Yes, there are some cliché aspects to it, but the continuation of those expected turns are truly genuine and heartwarming. The manga is very down to earth, apart from the fact that it revolves around a family than can read minds, and is truly funny and cute.
I'm sad that I've already finished this one, but am certain I'll go back to this treasure and reread it before long. And as soon as an English translation gets published, I'm adding this one to my library, so please make it happen! ... Or I'll just have to get around to finally learn Japanese, and, gosh, please have mercy if I ever go up that road.

Bahagia banget, ya, kalau hobi mengkhayal dan melamun terus dapet cowok ganteng. Kayak si Kie ini. Kalau saya mah, dulu juga hobi mengkhayal dan melamun tapi nggak pernah dapet cowok ganteng. Hiks. Apalagi yang seganteng si Mitsumasa yang berambut hitam dan bermata biru....
Jadi ceritanya, si Kie ini suka melamun dan mengkhayalkan hal-hal yang aneh. Semacam bikin cerita dan drama sendiri di dalam kepalanya soalnya dia nggak pandai berkomunikasi dengan orang lain dan mengungkapkan perasaannya. Hingga suatu hari dia bertemu dengan Koudai Mitsumasa yang bekerja di perusahaan tempat Kie bekerja. Waktu pertemuan pertama sih belum ada kesan apa-apa. Mitsumasa mulai tertarik sama Kie setelah dia melihat (atau mendengar, ya?) khayalannya si Kie. Yup. Si Mitsumasa ini bisa baca pikiran orang lain. Dan ternyata bukan cuma dia saja yang bisa, dua adiknya (Shigeko dan Kazumasa) juga bisa baca pikiran orang lain. Rupanya kemampuan itu menurun dari nenek mereka, seorang perempuan Inggris yang berdarah bangsawan.
Dimulai dari kisah Mitsumasa, kita pun akan diajak untuk menyimak kisah keluarga Koudai lainnya, mulai dari adik-adik Mitsumasa, kisah cinta nenek mereka yang mencintai lelaki Jepang (kakek mereka tentunya) hingga nekat mengikuti hingga ke negara matahari terbit itu, dan tidak terlewat juga kisah pertemuan kedua orang tua tiga bersaudara ini.
Awal baca sebenarnya saya nggak terlalu banyak ekspektasi, soalnya saya nggak suka sama si Kie. Udah dewasa gitu kok masih sukanya mengkhayal aja. Saya juga suka mengkhayal sih, tapi akhir-akhir ini khayalan saya lebih ke arah pesimis bukan yang indah dan berbunga-bunga seperti waktu lebih muda dulu. Huhu...
Untungnya sih ceritanya nggak fokus hanya pada Kie dan Mitsumasa, tapi seperti yang saya bilang di atas, seluruh keluarga Koudai muncul dan mendapat tempat yang sama pentingnya di dalam cerita. Sesuai judulnya. Hehehe... Sayangnya, di website manga online yg saya baca, baru sampai volume 3 aja. Baru sampai cerita orangtuanya 3 bersaudara Koudai. Itupun belum selesai. Haduh. Penasaran deh. Mesti nunggu berapa tahun lagi sampai ceritanya kumplit nongol di manga online, ya? Soalnya nyari yg raw-nya juga rada susah.... 😭
Ya sudahlah. Sabar aja.
Ngomong-ngomong, manga ini ternyata sudah difilmkan 3 tahunan yang lalu. Agak penasaran sih, tapi entah kenapa versi live action dari manga tuh sering mengecewakan, jadi agak males juga. Hehe

To think that, if it wasn't for the upcoming live action (starring Ayase Haruka and yummy Takumi-kun) I would have never known this manga exists. It wasn't even listed on GR. To find a translated scanlation I searched and searched (it is not licensed). By one of my favorite mangakas, Morimoto-sensei (Gokusen). So that's that best thing about this manga, the art. I was like "so nostalgic!" all the time. The girls resembled dear Yankumi (except for the sister) and the brother #2 resembled Shin, a little bit.
So this manga is about 3 gorgeous siblings that can read minds. The older one falls for a plain girl because she has a funny imagination. That is basically the plot. But sadly, the girl with the imagination takes about 2 chapters (of 7). In the same volume Brother #1 meets the girl, dates her and is engaged to her. I was like, what!!? I needed a slow paced story goddamn it. I didn't fall for the girl nor for the guy. Following chapters is about Sister and her feelings for her best friend of 6 years. The last chapters is about Brother #2 realizing he has feelings for the plain girl that has been in love with his brother since children.
I don't know. I couldn't enjoyed this one since I couldn't even meet the characters -I don't even remember their names. I was expecting more crazy imaginations and I didn't get it. I wonder if I've read a mediocre translation or what. At least I loved the art (so nostalgic bwaa) and I also like that the mangaka still makes the girl a bit older than the guy (like Shinkumi <3)

That was light, nice and funny -I read the first chapters in a flash. At times the series is rather serious (considering the topic it could have even been deeply psychological, but it isn't), but it still remains somewhat airy.

My teacher recommended me to read this in class. I felt drawn to this story. I really want to be Kie, want to experience like that. If there is a man who is handsome and cool, at same office, I won’t be able to concentrate on my work!
