I have worked with high school and college students for over 10 years. I was first a high school classroom teacher (biology, reading and English). I then became a curriculum specialist, working on academic plans, professional development and testing (This is where I got all my insights on tests, specifically the ACT/SAT). In 2011 I became an assistant principal at Estero High School (I was the hammer. My job was to keep students in line). I then became a college professor, which I continue to do today. I help young adults stretch beyond their comfort zones to achieve and exceed their goals. Maybe it’s because I’ve always been a fairly “good test taker,” or because I taught SAT prep for a while, but I did not find this book that helpful. The content for test taking strategies is good, but it wasn’t anything I hadn’t already learned by this point in my life. The content about school leadership didn’t really seem that helpful, and I definitely didn’t seem to get many test questions related to things I read. The practice tests were really poorly written with confusing wording in many questions, and ultimately they didn’t seem anything like the actual test or the practice test included in my registration fee from ETS.
