She’s all grown up and even more awesome! She’s studying ghosts, helping folks, and acing college. All while kick boxing and praying too. I love this character so much!
This time around Jessica has met a potential partner in the paranormal business. Eddie Home, grandson of (real life) D.D. Home is a gifted psychic medium and also a really great character. I loved how respectful he was to Jessica, and his whole back story.
Other things I loved about this book was the inclusion of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I love how Shea includes Catholics in his books in some way or other, and this book didn’t disappoint.
The ghostly plot is well thought out and gripping. I enjoyed the early chapters of the book, but as the story progressed I couldn’t stop reading. I kept saying ‘one more chapter’ and then I had finished the book!
I love this series and these characters and I look forward to reading the third book in the trilogy.
I’ve seen this Jessica Backman series for a while but Kindle only, and since I don’t do e-books, I’ve always passed on it. Until now. Finally, they became available in print form. For some reason, I decided to pick up books two and three so that means one day I’ll have to backtrack and get book one. In the meantime, Sinister Entity was an outstanding supernatural icky bug read.
I had a great time following the antics of Jessica and her new partner Eddie as mayhem ensued.
The writing was outstanding with solid third person, mostly limited, and past tense. The chapters and scenes were short, and the story moved without ever bogging down in endless narrative.
The story was interesting from start to finish and kept me glued to my seat right until the exciting conclusion. Plus, couldn’t go wrong with the mention of Slayer and Celtic Frost! This was another winner for Hunter Shea. Highly recommended.
I'd been wanting to read book two for a while, and I was not disappointed.
The Jessica Bachman we saw in the last book is now grown, in control of her powers and fighting evil spirits. When her late father sends Eddie Home her way, it is for a good reason.
When a teenage girl is seeing a doppelganger of herself and is feeling the last of an incredibly evil spirit, only Jessica and Eddie, working together, can fight it and hopeful send it to hell!
