Deceiving Death

Rate this book
Tonio Sanchez left his job with the Philadelphia P.D. to become a small town sheriff in the foothills of Northern Appalachia. It's not exactly Mayberry... but it's close. A widower, with two impressionable kids, Tony had loved the magnitude of his Philadelphia detective bureau job, but when he lost his wife to an undiagnosed heart condition, he knew he and the kids needed the tranquility of small town life. That peace was shattered on a random summer night when blood curdling screams brought him to the aid of a woman-- a woman who'd been beaten up pretty badly. A woman he'd known a long time before.

Shea Robinson came back to town for two reasons. She needed to clean up her late father's affairs and take care of a job for her boss-- but when the situation turned upside down, Shea had to turn to the one person she couldn't help seeing-- the love of her life as an awestruck teen. She's not a teen anymore... And she's got a job to do, but it seems someone might just want her dead. Now that would be a downer...

Can Tony figure out who is after Shea and keep her safe in a small town where everyone knows everything?

Multi-published, award-winning, bestselling author Ruth Logan Herne is living her dream of being a published author and having the time of her life doing it. Born to a poor family in Rochester, NY, Ruthy draws on her early years and her many years of dealing with today's young families and businesses to create beautiful, heartfelt small-town stories of faith, hope and love... while adopting her favorite non-Scripture quotes "Plenty of time for rest in the grave" (Ben Franklin) and "No one can make you feel inferior without your permission." (Eleanor Roosevelt) and one can always depend on Yoda "There is no try. There is do or do not." Succinct... and true. :) She loves chatting with readers on facebook at Ruth Logan Herne or follow Ruthy on Twitter, visit her website or stop by Seekerville (www.seekerville.blogspot.com) or pop by the Yankee Belle Cafe where Ruthy and several lovely authors share recipes, facts, photos and just plain old life! Great story. I think I read this as a part of a collection once. Still, it was good
to read again. Love Herne's work.

Great Suspense!

“Deceiving Death” is an “edge-of-your-seat” book from beginning to end. There are plenty of plot twists and turns, and every twist and turn catches the reader totally off guard! The suspense is well-balanced with the romance and the story is a delightful read! I look forward to reading more suspense from this author!

Novellas are hard. How to fully develop characters is not easy in so few pages. But this held my attention while appealing to my suspense genre interest. I enjoyed it.
