This is possibly the most boring book I've ever read voluntarily.
Or maybe it's not exactly boring, just very hard to read. There are a number of issues. First of all the title is misleading, it should have been "The forest in France in the Middle ages". Second the translation to English is not good. It is clear that it is translated by a person who which does not have English as 1st language and/or does not use it regularly. It's kind of old and a little staccato, like it would be for a person who might have learned English say in the 1950'es and not evolved his English since then. Finally a number of names of plants (and other things) are simply not translated at all. This may be OK in some cases, because some words would be specific to France, however it seems more that this person simply did not bother to have a Flora present in both French and English (this translatio being made some years before Internet dictionaries)
