Why is suffering the common lot of all people everywhere--believers and non-believers alike--and why does it seem that the world is out of control when it comes to the problem of pain and suffering? Who’s in Charge of a World that Suffers? includes an informative and inspirational new introduction by Franklin Graham that speaks to today’s reader in the midst of painful circumstances.
In this book, originally titled Till Armageddon, world-renowned evangelist Billy Graham uncovers the clues the scriptures offer in answer to that universal question--why do people suffer? Readers will discover what the Bible says
Why Christians are not exempt from sufferingLiving above your circumstancesThe place of prayer in sufferingGod’s promises for those who sufferAnd much moreChristians are called to learn what it means to trust God in every circumstance, and to live for Him no matter what comes their way. It is essential to think more clearly about suffering, and to rearrange your priorities so that when your personal armageddons come, you will not be taken by surprise or be unprepared.
Christian readers, pastors, Bible study leaders, and anyone questioning where God fits into suffering will find encouragement in this message of hope for a broken world.
Billy Graham was an American evangelical Christian evangelist and an ordained Southern Baptist minister. Graham is best known for his evangelistic missions or “Crusades.” He believed God knew no borders or nationalities. Throughout his career, Graham preached to millions around the world. He met and prayed with every U. S. president from Dwight Eisenhower to Barack Obama.
Graham authored 34 books, including his memoir, Just As I Am. In 1983, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Ronald Reagan. In 1996, Graham and his wife, Ruth, received the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest award Congress can bestow on a private citizen.
Graham married Wheaton College classmate Ruth Bell Graham in 1943. They had five children ( Ruth Graham, Gigi Graham Tchividjian, Anne Graham Lotz, Nelson, & Franklin Graham) and made their home in the mountains of North Carolina. They were married for 64 years before Ruth’s death in 2007. Graham died from natural causes on February 21, 2018, at his home in Montreat, North Carolina, at the age of 99.
I rather surprised when I see the author's of this book and the published year was 2021. It's a rather timely for this book to appear in the market and from the classic preacher. I don't know whether this book was republished from another title, but the theology of suffering introduced in this book was not that hard. It's from what we already knew, but in the time of tribulations, we often forget these simple principles. This book posed as remembrance for those principles.
This is a very big conversation I have with many friends. I think this is a great read for anyone who has been asked this or even asks this question themself. A great reminder of God’s love and grace for us as well. It jumps around a lot between stories, so make sure you are focused when you read it to truly get the fullest from this story. I had to read one chapter at a time just to soak it all in.
This is an excellent book about suffering in today's world and how the God of the universe has good things in store for us. I would recommend this book if you are interested in looking at suffering from a Christian point of view. Excellent book!
Received this book as a gift and I enjoyed it; it’s a keeper. One of my favorite quotes: “ When we come to the end of ourselves, we come to the beginning of God. Our little things are all big in the light of God’s love, our big things are small in the light of His power.”
