What an amazingly emotionally charged love story, and excellent debut novel. There was a lot of drama going on throughout this story...but what do you expect with high school students. What you don't expect is this added drama from the adults. However is an amazing story, I loved it. I laughed my butt off as well as bawled my eyes out, so be prepared and have a few tissues ready, you'll need them! This book is definitely going on my TBRA list, the emotion it took to write this and get the meaning across was just plain short of miraculous, you'll just have to read Jaybird to find out for yourself.you I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book, via IndieSagePR for an honest blog tour review. Due to sexual situations and adult language, this book is recommended for readers 17 and older!

Such a Beautiful Book!!

This is my first read by this author and it won't be my last.. This book was so full of emotions, some sad, some happy and some just down right funny.. The love between Jay and Zack was so beauitful like who finds their soul mate at 6 yrs old but they did. With some ups and downs they made and it was really beauitful to read about.. I don't see how any body could leave a bad review of this book, it was just to good to not give it 5 stars. Yes it was a slow burner and no there wasn't specifics about the sex in the book but for the kind of romance it was it's totally worth the read.. I would so recommend this to any one who enjoys a special kind of romance..

This was an absolutely amazing and beautiful read.

Evey page of the book was filled with lots of emotions. And I felt each of them.  It was raw and real.

Jayla and Zach  are such amazing characters. I love them both. They are perfect for each other. And they too, felt real.

I swear this was an emotional roallercoaster. I think I cried a lot, my heart broke and broke and broke. And then it was put together again. I fell in love, I laughed so much, I felt butterflies in my stomach. I got angry and frustrated and wanted to yell at everybody. I was swooning and smiling. I was crying again. What a ride is this story!

Beautiful and heartwarming.

Rule number 1 . . . Don't judge this book by the cover! Rule number 2 . . . Always remember that the life of a celebrity/rockstar is more chaotic then you can imagine, so breathe and keep reading . . . Its worth it!

Ok, so now you know the 2 rules to really enjoy this crazy soap opera of a book . . . Let me tell you I have more love than hate for Jaybird. I have always pushed it off because rockstar romance isn't my go to read. After hearing that this is not that rockstar romance crap, I decided to give it a go. This book is long! Not overly long and boring and full of detailed crap that doesn't need to be there . . . Its just long because its also the best rollercoaster ride you will ever take! I mean, life for Jayla/Jaybird literally changes so quick and then everything is tossed at her, no warning and no stopping. I guess thats the life that a rockstar princess gets . . . Non-stop chaos! Jayla gets more family, more friends, more public paparazzi, more drama, more love . . . Seriously this is like binging a whole season of some drama like Grey's Anatomy in a day! So take a breath, refill that wine glass, and snack on some chocolate so you can get back to reading!

Jaybird makes you cry, makes you laugh, makes you want to throat punch fictional characters and then pulls you in to care about everyone else that got mentioned in Jayla's life. MA Foster seamlessly weaved a crazy high drama tale that will have you begging for more and having a dance off to pop hits while doing the dishes and telling your family it's cereal Sunday! Well at least that was true for me. . . Anyways, give Jaybird a chance and thank me later!

There were parts of this book I loved, the main characters are great. The drama and and emotions felt real. It's a good book, but there were so many characters that I felt like I needed a diagram to remind me of who's who. Parts of the story did seem to drag a little bit, but that's high school drama for you. Overall a pretty good book.

Jaybird...Daddy's girl, brought up in the music industry, but protected, cherished, and very much loved...suddenly faces a world without her Daddy there by her side. I loved Jayla's spirit, her feistiness and her immense loyalty. She loves hard and that love was given when she was 6 years old to her Z.
There is such a lot that comes to test this couple when they eventually 'get it together' not least the fame that surrounds Jay. Zach at times handles it well and at other times I wanted to slap him lol. His strength of love for 'his girl' is obvious, but he obviously struggles with the insecurities that come from the media gossip-mongers jumping on every little thing Jay does or every person she is seen remotely close to.
I will admit to finding this book a little hard going, I felt like there were a lot of back stories and an awful lot of side characters - while I understand some if this was necessary to explain the conflict in Jay and Zach's relationship, at times I got very confused with who was who and who'd done what to who lol. I also understand with college stories there will be a lot of characters, but there were also a lot of relatives and cross overs in their lives.... but that said as I was enjoying the progression of the relationship between them I was invested enough to want to find out what was going to happen.
And then - bam! At about 85% the author had me gripped, she had me in tears and on the edge of my seat. Don't get me wrong there had been emotion previously (I loved Marcus' letters) but this was raw and heartbreaking. I wanted to jump in the book and hug Zach myself.
There were some great moments of humour too.. Jay was full of sass.. especially her argument at the party with Stacey "Lacey... tits for brains" omg had me snorting !!

Some of my favourite quotes in the book...

When life gave him lemons, he’d exchange them for limes and a bottle of tequila and say, “Who the hell wants lemonade when they can have margaritas?”

“Daddy,” she says, then she does the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. She kisses the phone. And I melt into the sofa.
(OMG I melted right along with her!!!!)

A side note here... Bass.... I bloody loved Bass !!! I want to see Bass' story too please lol.

A fantastic debut novel from M.A Foster gets 4* from me. I can't wait to see more from her.

Out of the corner of my eye, I see Evan staring at me. “What?” “So you got the girl?” “No, I got MY girl.”

Jaybird is a beautiful, moving story with interesting main characters.
If you like a lot of drama, this book is for you.

10 straight hours (apart from toilet stops, food inputs and settling the kids in bed)

Wowsers!
I'll admit, for a fair section of this book I was thinking "urgh, I'm getting too old for all this teenage angst." I was rolling my eyes, I was flicking the pages knowing that the jeousy from the exes would come, that the teenage girls would be bitching, that the inevitable break up was coming. I NEARLY gave up.
Then I cried. My heart broke a little bit. I was sad. I changed my mind about the book and devoured the remainder.

I must admit, I found all the characters very confusing. I dont think I've ever read a book with so so many secondary characters. Friends, brothers, uncles, aunties, cousins, nieces, uncles that aren't really uncles, grandparents, team mates, teachers....I really struggled to remember who was who. And the amount cross crossing with story lines too. Each secondary character had their own little sub plot going on. I get it added to the stress and strain on Jay and the effects it had on her relationship with all these characters but wow. it's a lot to take in.

Overall though, it's a beautiful story of love and loss. Of childhood sweethearts, of fame and fortune. Of trust, respect and finding your own true path.

Jaybird is a beautiful young girl who's around musicians and famous people a lot and her family is very protective of her. Jaybird's life changes but she is determined to stay strong. Z is a amazing guy I loved his character and how he saw the real Jay. A very emotional but real book that showed us even famous people have sad days and are real people too. 4/5 stars ****Reviewed for Sweet & Spicy Read provided for a voluntarily Advanced Reader Copy of this book ****

Congrats to M. A. Foster for her debut release! There were many emotions points throughout the story and they were well written and conveyed. YA is not my go-to genre to read, mostly the drama side of things, but this is a story, I think, all YA fans should read.

Again, congrats on your debut! I look forward to your future books. :)

Jaybird

Woah buddy that book was long. And I was a wee bit confused my all the different characters. I liked how she tries to explain at the beginning each relationship the person had with Jay. I liked all the characters though! They each added something different to the story. I did really like her character though. She was sassy and strong. Loved the relationship she had with her parents. He was a bit of a player for someone so young and in love. Felt he might have been around a little too much for someone his age and as much as he said he loved Jay. Though I did like his character besides that little hiccup. What I did like was the story was emotional and real. I really felt it every time a read one of her letters. Her mom seemed like a pretty awesome mom too. I loved the ending. It was short and sweet. I love when I get too read farther into the future. The cover is so pretty too!

Jaybird was a heartwarming and emotional book; it grabbed my attention right away. This book made me laugh, cry and warmed my heart all at once.  This is the first book I have read from  M. A. Foster and I will definitely read more from her in the future. The way she was able to bring all the characters together to be there for each other was phenomenal.

I was saddened  at the beginning of the storyline when Jayla's dad got sick. But her mom and bodyguard was always there for for her. I loved how Zach and Jayla have known each other since they were six years old. The love they had for each other was so exciting to watch bloom into true love throughout the story.

I will definitely recommend this book to other readers in the future.  This was a standalone.

Jaybird by M.A. Foster is amazing! If you love YA you'll absolutely love this book! Foster has created characters that will completely steal your heart.

Jayla King is facing both the height of happiness and success, while also enduring one of the greatest losses anyone can go through. I love her character! Jaybird is strong and vulnerable all at the same time, and proves over and over again she won't 'cower' but 'conquer'.

You will love this storyline and and the cast of characters Foster has brought together. She gives you a solid storyline with all the feels!!!

Jaybird To say that Jaybird was an emotional read would be an understatement!  There were parts of it that just made me want to jump into my Kindle and slap the sense into some of the characters.  Other parts reduced me to ugly tears.  And there were some parts that had me laughing out loud and snorting coffee out of my nose.  There is a line that is rather R-rated that I still find a way to use in conversation because it cracks me up every single time!

Jayla has spent most of her life out of the limelight, sheltered from the world by her protective parents.  Her father is an insanely famous musician, her best friend a supermodel.  Her circle of friends includes other famous musicians and professional athletes.  On the surface, it seems like a world most of us just couldn't understand.  But despite the trappings of celebrity and wealth, they are real people with real problems.  Every one of them reminds the reader of someone they know.

While Jayla is at the center of this book, several other characters have stories of their own that weave in and out of the storyline.   The author's writing made the characters and their stories thoroughly engaging.  It was the kind of book that just drew me in and wouldn't let me go without a struggle.  It was beautifully written and I can't wait to read more from her!

So while I'd don't normally read YA, this one had me captivated. I think it's because the main character Jayla was very mature for age. She goes thru a lot in this book and believe me you feel the pain, sadness and love right along with her. This book definitely takes you on an emotional rollercoaster. I found myself crying, laughing, swooning and crying again. Jayla is rock star royalty and in turn has been sheltered. The time she spent with Zach was her happiest time and she knew they were gonna get married even at 6 years old. Tragedy strikes and her world falls apart. After awhile she is able to pull herself together. Fate or maybe it's her dad steps in and she sees Zach again. This brings on the drama along with more friends. I forget how catty and jealous high school girls are and then I remember when I read this book. There are some knock down drag out fights in this book and they were awesome! I liked how with all this going on, the author was able to bring all together at the end and make amends. Jayla is a strong character even shows her weaknesses at times. She battles thru alot and comes out stronger in the end. Zach is a sweetheart but at times makes stupid decisions. I swear Reagan was an awful human being. He had to make up with Jayla a lot in this book but they also had some good times filled with laughs and tears. I loved the family atmosphere and they all came together in good and bad times. They truly show how the aspects of family is. Some look all good while others have serious issues. The characters are so realistically written that you find yourself in the book and apart of the family. I seriously loved this book and was so glad I got the chance to read it!! I can't wait to wait to read more from this author!

Jaybird, by author M.A. Foster, was an amazing book. This was the first book by author, M.A. Foster that I have read and it won't be the last. From page one, I was instantly hooked. This is a story of heartbreak, loss, and young love. The story centers around Jayla King, daughter of Marcus King who is the lead singer of the rock band, Royal Mayhem, and Zach, a high school football star who has been in love with Jayla since he was a little boy. Their families have been life long friends. Unfortunately, Jayla suffers excruciating heartbreak when her father passes away from cancer and her life is turned upside down. Jayla's life has always been one of seclusion due to her father's notoriety. That all changes when she moves from California where she grew up to Florida where her mother was raised. Jayla and Zach are given a chance to reconnect and build on their young love but they both deal with circumstances beyond their control. This story is so emotional and full of so many ups and downs that i was emotionally wrung out by the time I was done reading it. I loved this book and will be looking for more books by M.A. Foster. This a must read and once you start you won't want to put it down. This is a 5 star must read.

Full of angst and teenage uncertainty and jealousy, this is a roller coaster of ups and downs twists and turns. Every time you think everything will settle and all the characters (there are a lot) will finally be happy so there is another hiccup. How I felt reading this book, wow firstly I was in tears that switched to frustration, happiness, sadness yeah you get the idea. It kept me gripped and intrigued on how this would eventually play out, I wanted to knock heads together at some points but ultimately I wanted Jayla to be happy. It also reminded me of the stupid petty jealousy and games some kids play when slighted or put to one side, I suffered some of this in my teens so understood being on the receiving end. This book ended up being far more than I first expected it to be and I look forward to reading book two in this series.

This book, emotionally charged, slow burn, and a beautiful love story. This is not a rockstar romance even if her father is a Mega Rock Star. Jayla (Jay) loved Zach (Z) at age 6. Jay is a growing teenager and with that comes over the top protection, drama, secrets, and tragedy. When her father passes away Jaybird is thrown into the limelight. She does her best to handle things but everything is coming way to fast for her. She has a huge family and the best of friends to have help her through. The banter and humor that goes on will have you laughing out loud. You have to read this amazing story that demonstrates the true meaning of unconditional love in different capacities. M.A. Foster is an amazing writer and I will definitely read this entire series

the cover is beautifull !
The story is very cute but very YA for my taste, Jay King is very mature for a 17/18 years girl, very talented, sweet, beautifull... daughter of a famous rockstar, she 's in love with Zach since she's 6 years old.
Following the death of her father, we follow the the relationship's evolution between them during their final year of high school with all the dramas related to this age.
Jay was educated at home because of her father's fame.
This book is beter for young readers to whom will please greatly.

"Trust your gut, Follow your heart, And never, ever settle for anything less than you deserve"

I found this author on the labor day hop in Facebook, along other great authors as well. I read the book blurb and was hooked. Lucky me I won this book in a giveaway and couldn't wait to start reading it.

This book tells us the story about Jayla "Jaybird" King, daughter of a rock star and the love of his life. She's a very mature 17 yrs old who lives thru the punches of life and high school. She experiences the worst kind of loss but at the same time she grows and finds love and a bunch of friends.

Zach is your typical football player, popular, handsome who falls in love with Jay at a short age. They learn to be together and handle lifes obstacles.

We get to know an amazing bunch of cool characters whom I wish get their books as well. You'll laugh, cry and get pissed if you're like me and move so much into the story you feel like your in there with them.

I loved, loved the ending, the letters and the epilogue. Totally recommend it.

This is a fantastic YA debut!

Jayla is sassy, and sweet, she has been in love with Zach since she was six years old. As the daughter of a famous musician, she has been kept out of the spotlight and lived a very sheltered and protected life.

Zach seems like a typical teenage boy, he too loves Jayla, but the thousands of miles between them seem more of a challenge to him. Sometimes he seems quite mature, and others incredibly childish.

There are a whole raft of other characters, each with their own story, I think there may be a whole series in here!

This is a very engaging story, there are some heartbreaking moments, some hold your breath dramatic scenes, and some hilarious exchanges. There is a lot of teen angst as you would expect with any teen romance, but don't worry you will get your HEA. I got swept up in this story of how to overcome adversity from many angles.
