One of a few redeeming qualities of this book are the pictures. They are beautiful, no doubt. However, it seems that the author tries very hard to convince us to view travel (not by air) through her rose-coloured glasses - or perhaps just green-coloured glasses. Utterly optimistic, not taking into account that some of the locations are simply dangerous to visit.

It might be romantic and challenging to spend a month just travelling, but few of us have so much time to spare. Also, the prices and complexity of arrangements are way more demanding than when travelling by air.

I felt there was a bit of misleading information about the carbon footprint of electric cars/boats - what is the carbon footprint of producing the electricity to run them?

This is a beautiful book with sustainable tourism, flight free greener travel. Well worth a read for when we can travel again safely.
Walking, cycling, travel by boat, hot air balloon or train.
With hints and tips for the best time to travel, getting there, the best cuisine in the area, accommodation deals and the best things to experience in the chosen area.
Beautiful pictures but informative without being dated as it does not quote prices or particular named restaurants or hotels.
Just clear information about the things that would delight a new visitor to the chosen area.
