Apparently, the path of true love meanders through a minefield.
After several years of adventures, submissive Olly Glenn and his Dom, Joe Dexter, are about to tie the knot. Needless to say, all does not run smoothly on the path to matrimony. Only Olly can turn a visit to a cupcake shop into a police incident.
While Joe and Olly's friends join forces to make their wedding the most memorable ever, others are not so keen on them getting their happy ever after—or living to experience their honeymoon. So, when Joe walks into a carefully laid trap, it's hard to see a way out.
Olly is determined that nobody, not even a sociopathic killer with connections to his past, will ruin the big day. He wants Joe standing next to him, in one piece, and he'll risk anything to make sure that happens, even if they have to be handcuffed together. In fact, that idea has possibilities...
Lucinda lives in a small village in the English countryside, surrounded by rolling hills, cows and sheep. She started writing to fill time between jobs and is now firmly and unashamedly addicted.
She loves the English weather, especially the rain, and adores a thunderstorm. She loves good food, warm company and a crackling fire. She's fascinated by the psychology of relationships, especially between men, and her stories contain some subtle (and some not so subtle) leanings towards BDSM.
❤❤ I've read some of this authors books from different series and enjoyed them. Even through it had been awhile since l read one of this series I loved Olly and Joe straight of at the start of this. Olly is adorable and a tad cheeky with his Dom. A new rule about communication Joe put his little sub in the naughty corner so to speak... An attack on the street and Olly is hurt luckily he's a nurse and knows what to do with a bit of help. But is only the start of what is to happen. Hot sexy scenes for them both I absolutely loved. Dramas and dangers happen with a kidnapping. Oh and a dog called Parker who takes great pleasure in getting all muddy so Olly has to bath him. The side characters are also great and each have a spot keeping these guys on the path of their wedding day. A beautiful ending to the story for them both with a few surprises at the end for Olly. This was mainly written from Olly's pov character and can be read as a standalone. A fantastic book from start to finish. #BDSM, #HotChemistry #Danger #BrattySub #NaughtyDog
When I thought that book 8 was the last book, I almost cried. And now to think this may be the last one, I really did cry. Because the world would never be the same without more Olly in it. Up to his usual shenanigans and trying to stay out of trouble, which for Olly is impossible. But what kills me with this one, is all he was trying to do was plan for the happiest day of his life, when everything turns out to be not at all the way it should. When you think back over this series, Olly has made it through by the skin of his teeth some days. It seems like every time you turn around, someone has it out for him, or he ends up in the middle of some kind of trouble. He’s definitely a magnet for trouble. In more ways than one. At least with Joe, most of the time the trouble is fun. But even Joe ends up scraping by sometimes. Just by his job and people who aren’t the brightest in the bunch. But what I love is how resilient they are. I love that Olly may break down. The adrenaline may crash and he may lose his mind for a bit, but he gets back up and becomes that happy go lucky sub that we all know and love. The one with a passion for coffee, chocolate and making his Dom nuts with his antics. And I love how much Joe gets him. Doesn’t mean there are times when the lines of communication get mixed up, they do with any couple. But Joe always seems to know, for the most part, what Olly needs. He’s Olly’s compass, his rock, his port in the storm, and the one thing that always keeps him steady. And for Joe, Olly is everything he never knew he needed. He was used to a certain type of sub. But Olly had a way of getting under Joe’s skin with his golden curls, goofy grin and playful antics. And he couldn’t have shown any better at how much he loved Olly by making the man his husband. If they get that far. There’s always trouble afoot. But they manage to get through, with friends, family, and each other. I love this series. If you haven’t read it, you should. Olly is just the absolute best and I will beg til the day I die, for more and more of Olly.
Edging closer is the first book in the Tales from The Edge that I have read, yeah, I know starting at book nine is a little late. But let me tell you, this book can be read as a standalone.
Olly is so adorably cute. His Addiction to coffee and all things sugary, do not help his ability to accidently find trouble.
His Dom Joe who co owns the Edge a BDSM Training venue. Is hopelessly in love with Olly and tries to balance keeping Olly Safe and out of trouble with allowing him freedom to grow. Sometimes even Joe wonders who is in charge in their non BDSM life.
When a chain of event from Olly’s past come back to bite his butt, their impending wedding plans are threatened and so are Olly and Joe themselves.
I love the way the author weaves her other BDSM series characters into this story, I always appreciate seeing familiar characters pop up, and I find that by interlinking her series as well as individual books in a series. We are treated to an array of characters. It kind of makes them even more real.
I have read around 5-6 of the authors books so far, and I am desperate to catch up on the ones that I have not read yet.
The characters are full of fun and colourful personalities, even minor characters you get a good feeling about their personalities. But yes, in this book Olly outshines the others with his positivity and fun-loving outlook. I really felt for him when the events escalate to their peak. But Olly had all the support anyone could ask for as the community at the Edge rallied around.
I really liked Aiden’s character too, he is the balance to Olly’s hyperactive character and is his rock. I loved Olly’s dog too who seems to be a canine version of Olly himself, always finding trouble and mischief, but no one can help but love the pup.
I am now excited to read the whole series, Oh and I am on the hunt to find The Edge, The Underground Club and The Retreat. Though Google Maps seems to have missed them off their street map!
Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine that there would be another book in L.M. Somerton’s ‘Tales From the Edge’ series. And certainly not one revolving around my all-time favorite character, Olly, and his Dom, Joe. It does make sense though, as Olly and Joe’s wedding is a perfect moment to get all the characters from the eight volumes gathered together. There is a little bit of drama that puts an old storyline to rest, but mostly this tale is about the love between these two men.
I absolutely adore Olly and have from the first moment I picked up the first installment in this series, ‘Reaching the Edge’. He’s the ultimate twink with a sassy and cheeky personality. He’s always first for getting into trouble, even though he claims it’s never his fault, and his Dom loves every inch of him. They’ve had their troubles over the years, not with each other, but from outside forces trying to destroy their happiness. Olly has stood strong through it all and now he can’t wait for his wedding day to Joe.
Getting married is not easy in Edging Closer written by L.M. Somerton. Somerton puts every device except for the “runaway bride” in this story (laugh). There are knives, handcuffs, car crashes, and falling down hills and I have not even mentioned the BDSM activities (smile).
“It always amazes me how many different variations of the lifestyle there are. Something for everyone, no matter where you are on the kink ladder.” Loc. 495 in Edging Closer by L.M. Somerton.
Edging Closer is an exciting mystery where people think that the past is over with, but is it ever really?! Then there is the craziness of wedding planning Olly style. Olly is a hoot as well as all of his cohorts.
Somerton gives us a quick read with some spanking fun and a line of danger. Edging Closer is the ninth book in the “Tales from the Edge” series, but can be read as a standalone.
I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.
This is a fun, but not always light-hearted book in the Tales from the Edge series. Joe and Olly are planning their wedding. All looks like smooth sailing until a few dangerous turns and threats occur. At first, nothing makes sense until the mysterious pieces begin to come together. In between threats, Joe and Olly have all of their usual passionate D/s encounters. There are pre-wedding fun activities with family and friends. Despite the dangers, there is much to be happy with in the Joe and Olly story, especially an outstanding ending and HEA.
I discovered L.M. Somerton on Literotica and I have followed her since then. I have yet to read one of her books that I didn't like. If Edging Closer is the last in the series of Tales from The Edge I am so going to miss it. I have read every book of the series and Olly and Joe are finally getting married. They are such a great couple along with all the others from The Underground. I hope that we get an update every so often--Joe and Olly were only the first couple to marry!
