Rate this book
An introverted photographer. An influential cult. An entity wanting to cross over.

While employed as a contracted photographer through a magazine in New York, Harper Weiss lives behind her camera. When a new assignment is a small town known for its local occult lore, Harper jumps on the opportunity to investigate.

The cult waits in the shadows to find the right candidate to complete their ritual. Harper’s timing proves fatal when she stumbles upon the cult members practicing unholy rites at the site. As the dagger pierces her heart, a flash of light bursts forth. Hours later, she awakens alive, and the cultists are missing.

Reborn as a Shadow Witch, Harper was unsure of what to do with her power. While attempting to return her life to normalcy, she is given a mission from an unnamed deity… Destroy the cult before they destroy the world as she knows it.

I couldn't have chosen a more perfect first Luna Weathers book. I love reading mystery books and to find one that mixes my love of the paranormal into it was just amazing. Harper's journey to becoming a better version of herself seems perfectly normal until she gets a promotion at work and starts to investigate paranormal activity in small, unknown towns across America. On her first assignment, Harper stumbles into something that will change her life forever and introduce her to people she never imagined she would meet.

Luna and Miles' ability to paint a picture using words is nothing short of amazing. They give enough detail to help a reader be able to jump into the story almost as if they were experiencing it for themselves. I could see the woods around me as Harper investigated the spookiness of her first assignment. I could feel her fear, shock, awe and frustration as her life slowly changes through the entire series.

The Shadow Witch was unlike any book I have ever read! This was the first book I have read in this genre and it was brilliant! The suspense and mystery, mixed with the magic was absolutely addictive. Once you start reading you'll be absolutely hooked, I know I was. Despite the fact that magic plays a large role for Harper, she is a character that you can easily connect to. Her struggle with depression and anxiety is very real and relatable. Going on this wild journey with Harper you connect so deeply with her. You feel her struggles and overjoy in her triumphs. The intermixed storylines of Harper and Agent Flint was so smooth and seamless. With Agent Flint you get to experience the very real horrors happening and the struggles to catch the bad guy. With Harper, you see the other side of the experience with the magic and this other world that most can't quite comprehend.

One thing I loved so much was the progression we see in Harper. She goes from this mousy photographer who sits behind a desk and hides away from the world, to a woman who embraces her flaws and learns to embody the powers bestowed upon her and take on the challenge she finds herself in. She grows so much throughout the story and as a reader I couldn't help but give a little fist bump in the air to celebrate.

The writing from Luna and Miles Weathers was absolutely extraordinary! Every word sucked you in, waiting with baited breath and anticipation for what would happen next. And let me tell you...be prepared for some plot twists you never see coming! I was all in, hook line and sinker. I will be over here, patiently awaiting Book 2 and the amazingness that is to come!

The Shadow Witch is the first book I read of this genre and I must say, it is absolutely fantastic.
The story catches you from the first minute and as the chapters progress they become completely addictive to the point that you don't want to stop.
The characters are very well built. Harper is amazing, smart, adventurous, unafraid to defend herself, and powerful. Cam is a character who does his job and who will do everything possible to solve the mystery that surrounds the cases they must solve. And Dom, a villain who makes you hate him but at the same time leaves you intrigued by everything he's up to.
The mythology of the book is interesting and refreshing to read, which makes you wonder what is really going on and you want to know more and more.
The Shadow Witch is the first book in the trilogy and it gives a surprising start, which makes you wonder what the authors will do next for this incredible story. With the twists and turns they have, your jaw drops because you don't see them coming.
It's an Amazing book and I can't wait to read the following.

This is the first book I have read of this author and my promise to authors is that I always review what I read and it’s an honest review.
Having said that I almost gave up at 24% as it seemed to be a story about gruesome murders investigated by the FBI.
However, after that the fantasy element really kicked in and the dual main character, Harper, began to evolve and develop into , well you’ll have to read if for yourself.

In conclusion, did the book hold my interest, YES.
Did it leave me wanting to read the next in the series, definitely YES.
Would I recommend to others, again YES.

In my opinion, and I read a lot of books , it was well worth my time and I’m sure you will think too.

Witchy vibes!!

Very different to Luna’s other books but I thoroughly enjoyed this! The dual POV’s was great, two very different perspectives. It really piqued my interest from the start.

I could write paragraphs and paragraphs of the detail and outlines in this book but I’m just going to say it was brilliant and I can’t wait to read more!! Harper’s character is outstanding as with all of Luna’s books.

I know that’s not very helpful in a way of a review but seriously it was awesome! 🤩

Oh wow! This was amazing! Harper starts out as a very depressed young girl trying to figure things out but by the end she is starting to really come into her own. Luna and Miles weave a fantastic Paranormal story with many twists and turns. It certainly didn’t go the way I expected and I absolutely loved that. It was definitely a fun twist on the world and I really enjoyed how it all turned out. I am very excited to see how the story will pick up in the next book.

Magic and the Aether

wow! This book took a weird path. Totally unexpected. I'm still a little in the dark about some things, but that's what "Next in Series" is all about.

Harper has been thrown into the world of physics and the cult while reporting for the travel magazine that employs her.
Cameron is an FBI agent following child abductions and the strange murder rituals surrounding these events.

This is the first book of this genre I have read. It was wonderful, Luna and Miles Weathers make me want to read more. The book draws you in from the beginning and I needed to keep reading to find out what would happen.

I love the characters. Harper shows great growth throughout the book and I feel she will still do a lot more. Cam is no nonsense and you can tell he wants to find out the truth. Dom is a well written villain and I’m worried about the things he will do.

I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait for the rest of the story.
