My friends laugh at me when I scare myself watching them and tell me to stop watching them, but who doesn't love to get scared? I grew up in a small town nestled in the southern mountains of West Virginia where I spent days roaming around in the woods, climbing trees, and causing general mayhem. Nights I would stay up reading Nancy Drew by flashlight under the covers until my parents yelled at me to go to sleep.
Growing up in a small town, I learned a lot of values and morals, I also learned parents have spies everywhere and there's always someone to tell your mama on you. So when you get grounded, what is there left to do? Read! My Aunt Jo gave me my first real romance novel. It was a romance titled "Lord Margrave's Deception." I remember it fondly. But I also learned I had a deep and abiding love of mysteries and anything paranormal. As I grew up, I started to write just that and would entertain my friends with stories featuring them as main characters.
Now, I live Huntersville, NC where I entertain my family and watch the cats get teased by the birds and laugh myself silly when they swoop down and then dive back up just out of reach. The cats start yelling something fierce...lol.
I love books, I love writing books, and I love entertaining people with my silly stories.

The latest instalment of KSI - Kincaid security investigations introduces Max.
When Max receives a phone call from his younger sister Desiree, he begrudgingly takes on a new client who happens to be well known soap star Shayna Moore.
Shayna has a stalker who has recently broken into her apartment in New York and her house in Virginia. It’s Maxs job to find the stalker and apprehend him. Can Max find the stalker in time to save Shayna or even himself from being hurt?
This book ends with a bit of a cliffhanger leading into the full story or Max and Shayna so you’ll have to wait for part 2 to see how this exciting introduction pans out.

Another good one!
Max, oh my! This was a quick read that grabbed my attention quick and kept it. The story concluded, with the promise of more to come, yay! I enjoyed where this story went and where it might be going.

Now that i have found Apryl Baker as an author I just love her books. Each book concentrates on one of the KSI team members and this book is all about Max.
Max has a younger sister Desi that contacts him early one morning and asks him to help her good friend Shayna. He would do anything for his sister, but being a bodyguard is not one of them. He is KSI's tracker and other members do bodyguard services.
Desi is insistent that her friend has a stalker and only Max can protect her.
So Max heads over to the studio that Shayna is filming.
After some negotiation Max and team are on the job. Both her condo and home in another state have been trashed and it's up to the team to figure out what is going on.
Max can't believe how beautiful Shayna is, but more than that she is real and kind.
And then Shayna's dad requires open heart surgery so Max, and team go with her to her hometown. When Max shows up at the hospital with Shayna, she freaks out and tells her dad that Max is her boyfriend as she doesn't want her dad to worry.
This book had lots of twists and turns, plenty of romance and overall, a great story.

I adore Apryl's writing. I love how she brings characters to life and how the story always follows a steady pace with a good ebb and flow. I also adore the KSI guys! I love each and every tale. Max is no different. He's got a slightly different vibe that I really enjoy but he's still so much part of the KSI gang. Max is kind and sweet with just the right amount of darkness to add that certain sex appeal. Shayna is sweet and a good down-home kind of girl, vulnerable but strong in her own right. The story is full of sass and wit and ups and downs and I was here for every moment! You'll love it. Check out the whole series. You can read them stand alone but they're also read one right after the other!!

Cliffhanger ending!!!
I've loved all the books so far in the series and honestly was enjoying this one just as much, until it ended suddenly on a cliffhanger!!!
It seemed very rushed and not as easy and smooth as the other books on the series.
The characters were great and we'll suited and we saw all the usual characters from ksi.
I'm not a fan of cliffhangers and choose not to purchase cliffhanger endings if it says, so !any do t make the buyer aware you do t get full book, this book didn't state it was unfinished.
I respect an author can write what they choose I just wish they would let the reader know it ended unfinished so we had a choice to buy or not knowing we'd need to buy another book to get the ending.
My choice would be not to buy.

Max Sheridan is the best tracker out there. Former military he now works for Kincaid Security and Investigations. His sister calls because her best friend has a stalker and she wants him to protect her. Shayna Moore is an actress on a soap opera and doesn’t trust easily after her divorce. She will only accept a bodyguard if it’s Max. Max doesn’t protect people he tracks them down but takes it. When they go to Richmond where her dad is having open heart surgery, she tells everyone that he’s her boyfriend. Can Max keep her safe will trying not to fall for her?

Fabulous, part 1 of 2 of Max & Shay's story.
Brilliant addition to this series! I completely lost myself in this story and the characters. I love how some of the Kincaid men are playing parts in these books however there are females and kiddos and CONNER who need further time in books! I need more Delia, Mateo and all the amazing females from past books as well as CONNER'S STORY! This book does wrap up kinda but still leaves some things not complete. Read these books in order for optimal reading enjoyment, characters cross over! Free with K. U.✌

I have absolutely loved each book in this series except the ending for Max & Shay. It's like you just left them hanging. I think one more chapter would have helped. Like are they staying at her place? Staying in her city? Moving to NY? Getting married? Anymore trouble from her ex? I just wanted more!
I also looked for Sheridan, which said was coming out in 2022, but alas couldn't find. I am waiting on pins & needles for Connor!!!

Good but familiar.
Though I enjoyed Max and Shayna's story it sounded too familiar. For me, this book was too much like other books in the series, in fact there were parts of the first couple chapters that could have been pulled right out of previous books. I love this author and usually don't have this problem with her series, but this one is becoming repetitive.

really good
Another good book. Not my favorite but still good. Max & Shay get along so well. I would’ve liked to see a little more before it ended. I felt it was just cut short. Did she stay in the acting business? Did she move back with Mac? Did he stay with her? What about her dad? Wouldn’t been nice to see them with him again.

This is a well written start to this couple's love story. This is the first book I have read by this author, but it will not be the last. Read this one and then read Sheridan to see how the story ends. I usually don't like cliffhanging endings, but I knew going in that I would need to get Sheridan to complete the story. This one is worth your time. Get this one and Sheridan and enjoy.

I love how this author continues to come up with one storyline after another that’s intense and exciting. I really like Max and Shay together and hope their next book is just as exciting. I liked the introduction of Desiree and hope that maybe something will happen between her and Cole. It was also good to see Jasper again and learned that Jarrod was now part of the KSI team.

Who knew daytime soap actors experienced as much drama in real life as on screen? Max lives up to his potential, as noted in previous KSI books. You'll love his sister's larger than life personality and soap star Shayna. Of course, others KSI personnel have supporting roles!

I am a first time Apryl reader, but will not be my last. I loved her writing and characters. If this is just a beginning I can wait for the Full Novel. Private investigator romantic thriller. Max (Elite tracker) and Shayna (Soap opera star) have a wonderful banter and relationship. It's a great read I read in one sitting. Highly Recommend.

Do like this series and the guys from the security service who meet their other halves. Shay and max were linked by his sister and attraction was instant. Although it’s a precursor to their fuller story it reads well without having a major cliffhanger .
