If something seems too good to be true it usually, almost always, is... After a bitter divorce from her heart surgeon husband, the man who – quite literally – saved her life, Megan Flowers is moving on. She has a new home, a successful business, family and friends she adores, and without the stifling presence of Scott Warren holding her back she has everything to look forward to. But, two years after he left the small seaside town of Beachcastle Bay to take up a position in Denmark, news of Scott’s return threatens to cloud Megan’s new start… Xander Johansson hasn’t come to Beachcastle Bay for a holiday. It isn’t a place he would’ve chosen to visit at all, if he didn’t have to. And he doesn’t intend to stay for long, just until he’s done what he needs to do. A few weeks, maybe a month or two, no more, and then he can go home. As long as there are no distractions, no taking his eye off the ball, no falling in love. Definitely no falling in love… Scott Warren is a changed man. And he’s back in Beachcastle Bay to prove that, to everyone, but to one person in particular. Megan. The woman he treat so badly. The women he knows he never stopped loving, he just didn’t realise that, until it was too late. And now he wants her back. He wants a brand new start, with the woman whose life he saved, they were meant to be together. Fate saw to that. He just needs Megan to see that, too… Megan loved Scott, once. She doesn’t want to go there again. But Scott isn’t willing to give up without a fight, a fight hampered by the arrival of a handsome, younger man who’s also vying for Megan’s attention. A man who, in the beginning, looks like he just might win. But not everything is as it seems. And as secrets are revealed, and the past is reluctantly re-visited, one summer in Beachcastle Bay ends up changing not only Megan’s, but Scott and Xander’s lives, too. For better. For worse. Forever…
Michelle Betham is an ex-media technician turned author of super-sexy romance, usually involving rock stars, DJs, movie stars, hot businessmen, and bikers. But not usually all in the same book. Yet. A proud indie author, she also has six books published through One More Chapter, a division of HarperCollins Publishers, one of which is a pyschological thriller/romantic suspense written under the pen name of ML Roberts.
Addicted to binge-watching TV shows she struggles to think of a life before Netflix or Amazon Prime, loves music - especially rock and EDM; tattoos – of which she has many; spicy food, superheroes (she's a slightly obsessed Avengers fan-girl who harbours a particularly unhealthy obsession with Captain America), and Keanu Reeves – a crush that’s lasted well over twenty years, and one she blames entirely on ‘Point Break’. The original. She refuses to acknowledge any remake exists.
Her dream is to ride a Harley, visit Las Vegas, and be able to eat any amount of chocolate without putting on weight.
She lives in County Durham, north-east England, with her husband and their West Highland Terrier, Opie - named after her favourite biker in Sons of Anarchy! She can be found, most days, at her desk drinking tea and making up stories.
I wasn't sure who to root for at first, xander or scott, and changed my mind a couple of times as it went on. Should our heroine go back to her ex, the sexy surgeon or go for the equally sexy marine biologist toy boy,? wasn't expecting the outcome with Scott tho. Another thoroughly enjoyable book from michelle, well done
