Podczas drugiego testu umiejętności Yuini – chłopiec przystępujący do niego wraz z Agatą i Riche – zostaje przemieniony w bestię przez jednego z kapeluszy z rondem.

This manga sparked my interest back into reading manga in the first place. I've been a fan of Japanese comics and animation since I can remember, but unluckily (or luckily) after becoming an adult, studying art and reading/watching so many series, I became very aware of the flaws of many of them, and this has made it increasingly difficult for me to find new series to enjoy. This is one of them.
As I said many times reviewing the previous volumes, I was drawn to it by the artwork. I found the abilities of the artist to be absolutely stunning, the illustrations have no proportion/ perspective flaws (as it sometimes happens, even in the best works), and also appear to be screentoned by hand; which makes me think that the author put a lot of effort in perfecting them to the point of masterpiece (which probably means that, alas, we'll have to wait quite some time for the new volumes to be released). But, coming for the art, I stayed for the story; which is interesting enough to distract me sometimes from the aesthetics of the volume itself!
People who have not read this series may think I am exaggerating, people who didn't like it as much may disagree, but I am positive this is one of the best manga series of all time. I see the author become the new Akira Toriyama, if she keeps on perfecting her work. I am really looking forward to it too! Ganbare, Kamome Shirahama!!!!
The coninuation of the fantasy series featuring the growth and development of young witches, especially Coco, though all of the characters seem to be deveoping. This is more of a plot-oriented volume where we find out more about the purposes of The Brimmed Hats to bring more dark magic back into the world, to which Qifrey and his young troupe are opposed. We see that when they work together, things can get done. But this volume has things hanging in the balance as Qifrey gets seriously hurt.
So why read this? Primarily because of the artwork, which is a cut above most anything else going. It's really vibrant and expressive and would be worth it if you skimmed the story just to see the art. But youll like Coco and Tetia and Qifrey, too.
I love this series so much, my god!!! I just love seeing the girls grow in their skills and figure out their very own magic spells/styles and this volume really highlighted that. I did feel like it was a bit short/ended abruptly, but I missed reading this series and it gave me all the warm feelings.
This series continues to be awesome; I was worried that a character would be written out of the storyline after a lot of character development, but no.
Several characters are really growing in this series, it's great to see. It's not just a coming-of-age story, but several coming-of-age stories in one. Plus also some "wow, I'm an adult but I haven't quite dealt with my past, have I?".
I think this volume has some real dilemmas and it doesn't treat them lightly. I also appreciated that at one point, one of the apprentices asked a friendly adult to help out. I see that so infrequently in YA overall that it almost seemed like a deus ex machina; I had to reexamine my own biases. _____ Source of the book: Lawrence Public Library
So the plot certainly thickens in this volume. We get to learn a lot more about the brimmed caps and what their fascination with Coco is, we see one of these brimmed caps unmasked, we get to see a lot more of Tetia's spells which I LOVED as well as Richeh's backstory which was pretty sad :( but I adore how each one of Qifrey's apprentices are all individuals and want to do magic their own way - they all have different personalities but all agree on how to use magic responsibly.
And of course there is Euini and how the girls come together for him! It is beautiful.
WHA is one of my current favourite manga titles and I would strongly urge you to pick up the series if you haven't done so yet - the artwork is incredible and the story enchanting. Superb!
This series is at its best when the witch apprentices work together to overcome a dilemma. The teachers, not so much. And don't get me started on the dreadful chapter about a room full of bickering knights far removed from the action. Not looking forward to their return. At least it's nice to finally get some names for the two brimmed cap villains who have been skulking around causing trouble since the start of the series.
2025 Review: I just really appreciate how this volume furthers the main plot, but also treats us to more moments of strength from each of the girls. As I mentioned with the previous volume, the darker undertone to the series is definitely making an appearance now.
2022 Review: I just have so much love for this manga series, and I’m pretty upset to have been so late to the game in starting it.
5 ⭐️ the plot thickens. Starting to understand the brimmed hat witches and just the magical problem solving and adorable characters I am just here for it
Qifrey's personal issue with the Brimmed Caps is revealed at last, and I can't think that the introduction of a set of twins in the Knights Moralis was a coincidence...
