After re-reading the whole Legion of Angels series, I had to read this series as well. It's nice to get to know Nero's parents and how they met and what adventures they had together. As expected from this author you get lots of action, the right amount of humor and sass and of course a bit of romance that makes you want to read the rest of the books. Would I say that I loved this book as much as Leda and Nero's stories...no but it came pretty close. I did enjoy Cadence and Damien's story and I'm currious enough to read more of what happens to them. It's a great story for sure. Tho I would advise the readers to read the Legion of Angels series first, since both series compliment and interact with each other, especially the third book in this series.

I was annoying Leda and Nero latest book still hasn’t published yet, instead we’ve got Nero’s mum and dad’s story! Who wants that? 🙄

However, I can’t be more wrong.
I love Candece, and Damiel wasn’t bad either.
I tell you what, I’m glad this series came up after I read 8 books of Leda’s story and getting use with her character.
If not, I would probably compare and mad with Leda’s behaviour.
After reading Candece’s story, Leda sounds rather unhinged or bipolar! Lol.

Off to book #2!

No wonder these two produced a super baby like Nero Vampire's Kiss 😂

This book wasn't bad but not that good either. I loved reading about Nero's parents and their overall significance in the Legion of Angels' series but their relationship felt very rushed. Cadence and Damiel's first meeting hinted on an enemies-to-lovers thing but their feelings developed awfully fast without a real development. I got a bit of a fated mates kind of feeling which I'm not a fan of, personally.

We take a break from the normal Legion of Angels Timeline to learn more about Nero's parents. Set way back in history, we get to see a totally different, Legion, one on the edge of paranoia by the first set of angels to defect. In that context we meet Cadence, Nero's mother, the daughter of Archangel who tries to do everything perfectly (unlike Leda), but hasn't lost her humanity and belief in good (very like Leda) and Damiel, Nero's father and the head of interrogators who is driven to find everyone's secrets and is very sure Cadence has them. The chemistry between the two crackles and sparks as could be seen in LoA 8. I loved Cadence and cannot wait to see her with Leda and Nero in the future. It was awesome seeing a different side of Damiel and enjoyed watching their adventures.

If you have read LoA 8, you know the importance and reason behind Nero's parents meeting. I enjoyed looking for the plot within the plot. You also know what makes Nero's parents unique and we get very interesting and valuable information about how magic works in this world that we lacked before that will put a lot intro perspective for future LoA books. I can't wait for the next one to learn more and to kick back and enjoy the chemistry between Cadence and Damiel even if I know how the trilogy will end.

I have to admit here. I was a tad confused. Immortal Legacy has a different narrator than the Legion of Angels series, so I didn't recognize the names at first. It took me a little bit to realize that this series is actually the prequel to the Legion of Angels. This is actually the story of Nero's parents and how they come to be together and rise the ranks that they did. I was a little on the fence with Angel Fire. A few of the characters for Legion of Angels are in this series and it is kind of weird seeing them earlier than the parts they play in LOA. I did however enjoy the book. We see how formidable Damiel is but how Cadence starts putting little cracks in his armor. She has a secret to hide, he knows there is something up. Damiel is a master interrogator and he believes he will get to the bottom of all that Cadence is. However, he is pulled in two different directions. The drive to reveal all of Cadence's secrets, and the need to have her with him and work as a team.

Like the Legion of Angels stories, we get a good action plot where Damiel and Cadence must come together to save the world. I really enjoy those threads as they mix with the blooming romance. Damiel's Master Interrogator skills are put on display and he is really concerned with how Cadence will handle them.

I really enjoyed Angel Fire, I was just a little disappointed that we were moving backwards instead of forward. The narration was good, it just wasn't Cris Dukehart and after binging Legion of Angels, I had become adjusted to her narrating the characters I already knew. It will probably take me to the next book to get totally accustomed to Holly Adams.

Angel Fire definitely was a fun story, and I will definitely be continuing the series.

I love Nero and Leda and now we have the story of his parents..... How they met and came to trust each other in a much expanded world than we have seen so far and a deeper look into the immortals..... Ella summers has such a moorish way of writing, as soon as i pick up a book from page one im engrossed and this was no different what an ending bring on book 2!

Very interesting

I've read all of the Legion of Angels books so finding out more about Cadence and Damiel in exciting. There missions are dangerous and they're learning about one another. I have so many theories now with what brought about what is going on in Legion of Angels. Cadence has a likeable personality. Can wait to read the next one.

Cadence Lightbringer is the daughter of an Archangel, raised to her position quicker than her fellow angel's offspring. Some accused that was accomplished from having a legion general as a father but she actually worked very hard and with discipline.
Her father always reminded her to always be a perfect soldier and never to dig in into her curiousity. She always managed to be flawless and hid her strange magic, until she met Damiel.

Damiel Dragonsire was a fearful Master Interrogator, intelligent and brutal. He was famous for hunting down any traitors and had bent down many possible traitors with his power. He was always suspicious.

When they were tasked to work together, Damiel did not hesitate in his suspicion towards Cadence and always watched her every move. It was soon enough that he found out Cadence's secret magic. But their work was dangerous enough for Damiel to always focus on her or for Cadence to always hide her forbidden power. Their work also required trust, something Damiel never gave in before.

This book is rather short for the information it contains.
A good book to read and probably better in understanding the story of angels, demons, immortals altogether should I have read the previous series from the writer.

Fun start to a new trilogy

This is the story of how Cadence and Daniel met. If you're fan and have read LoA, you'll know how they fit in the story with Leda & Nero. If you haven't that's okay. You don't need to have read LoA to understand the story.

I loved learning about Cadence, our perfect soldier but someone good natured. We got glimpses of the Daniel we know but also another side of him. The pancake reference was cute. It was nice to see their relationship built and smirked when I read the final paragraph. I can't wait to see how their relationship evolves.

We also learn more about the world (s) and magic. It made me wonder how the guardians from LoA fit in and I'm sure that will be explained as the story continues.

Also, there's a great twist with Nyx that kept me guessing what would happen next to our heroes.

Recap: loved the book! If you're a fan of the LoAs books, you'll enjoy this. Can't wait to get my hands on the next one.

This book took me all over the place! It went from Young Adult Fantasy to YA Romance to Full length Fantasy with flying colors.

I honestly enjoyed it very much. It has great and funny characters, an interesting plot, a very decent but simple history and what I consider most important on a first entry "potential"

I would honestly give this book a 4.5 🌟 and I'm intrigued to see what happens next.

I think Ella should take a break and read her Legion series from the start.
So she can remember how she used to cook up some awesome stories right before she forgot how to after Book 7 in that series.
Things had been slowly going down hill but book 7 and onwards was truly bad.
The destruction of some great characters was horrifying.

When she started her new series based on Legion, I hoped..really hoped...
But no.

We have humanity-lamenting right from the start - this time it is Cadence, Nero's mom. Who absolutely has no real reasons to cry about humanity considering she is an angel's kid.
But she does and she so 'wants to be normal'...
I feel like Ella is trying to replicate Leda, which feels weird.
Cos Leda was new to the ways of angels and so its understandable if she desires normal.
But Cadence was always part of the angel world, so she should be facing a different set of issues.

Everything goes at breakneck pace and a lot of good action in the plot is just swallowed.
It is like Ella is tired and is thinking, "Go, go go..let me release another book..."

And then we have Cadence meeting Damiel and it is one of the most lackluster meetings ever.
Damiel, a master interrogator meets Cadence of whom he is suspicious.
He shows some animosity at first but then in 2 days, wham... we have lust and love and feelings.
All right in the middle of a rescue mission for -wait for it, Damiel's betrothed, who is also Cadence bestie for whom Damiel feels nothing.

All the spices for the emotional curry is right there.
Sympathy for the hard nut that Damiel is, betrayal of friends, misunderstandings etc etc.

There is a lot less of fantasy and lots more of emotional garbage.
I say garbage because there is no real feelings or love there.
At least Nero and Leda had a much better, much more smoldering romance.

Overall, a sad sad sad disappointment.

The writing is very engaging and it's easy to just devour the whole book.
But that doesn't change the fact that the plot construction couldn't be lazier.
There is not a single line of setup that has a later payoff. All facts and circumstances are revealed as they are needed which very much gives the impression the entire story is made up on the spot. No planning at all. All the dramatic turns the plot takes are incredibly contrived and unbelievable not only because everything is made up on the spot but also because a lot of the stuff just doesn't make a lick of sense regardless.
The same is true for logical reasoning in general. Aristotle would turn in his grave if he knew this book existed.
If you are a true master at suspending disbelief this will probably be a blast for you.
You might also enjoy this if you are just here for the slow/medium burn romance and don't care a lot about the rest. The romance while being clichée is cute and sweet.

The magic systems in this world are getting so convoluted. All of these very special angels seem to have all of the powers possible. I’m quite confused how they are supposed to be able to be defeated.

Wow Ella Summers it feels like I always say that you have outdone yourself, but you have really outdone yourself. I love all of the Ella Summers books, but especially this one and the entire Legion of Angels (LoA) series. Ella Summers is my favorite author, and I’m so happy to have added Angel Fire and soon the whole Immortal Legacy series onto my reading list. She is truly an amazing author, and if you haven’t read her work, trust me you are missing out! The world she has built with the LoA series and now the Immortal Legacy is so unique and fascinating. I have never read anything like it before. It is outstanding.

I’m so happy to finally get some insight into Cadance Lightbringer and Damiel Dragonsire. I have been wanting to read about these two specific characters and their interaction for a long time. I LOVE that we see how Cadance and Damiel meet each other. The perfect LoA soldier versus the Big bad wolf ;) This book gives us insight into Damiel during his Master Interrogation days and Cadence's baby angel days. I love how Cadence is sweet and witty, but at the same time shy. While Damiel is suspicious, paranoid and closed off in the beginning of the story; but, later as his walls starts cracking he shows his passionate, funny and '"full of himself arrogance" (typical angel trait) side. You really see Damiel in a new light in this book, and it's clear that Cadance brings out Damiels funny, passionate and relaxed side.

Furthermore readers get a more detailed explanation about the different magic types, and surprise there’s more to it than dark and light. This books gives us more information on Immortals, immortal weapons, other realms, gods, demons and people with Immortal blood. Trust me, this information will be very helpful for the upcoming LoA books!

If you are new to the Legion of Angels world that Ella Summers has written, I recommend that you first read the LoA books to get a basic understanding of the world before diving into this one.

Disclaimer: I have never read another book by this author, so I haven’t read the series this book is apparently a prequel to and didn’t know it was even a prequel at all.

I liked most of it, but the book definitely had the feel of setting up to end several times but the it would keep going because the MCs got sucked into another adventure. Gave the entire thing a very disjointed feel, like the adventures should have all been separate novellas.

I didn’t really feel romance between the MCs. They went from 0 to 90000 real quick. He was funny when he opens up, but t them talking about this supposed “connection” they shared that they both felt from the beginning? Bulloney. There wasn’t one. Even at the end of the book Instill didn’t feel one. I was just TOLD it was there.

The lore behind this world felt like someone threw all the powers a character could have into a bag, shook the bag up, then promptly dumped the entire bag into the book. It was waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy too much. Everyone having like 10 difference abilities then we find out the MCs have extra abilities because they’re super-charged. And that exposit machine of a spirit in the temple on the other world may as well have been speaking jibberish. There were too many threads to follow during the PhD level history lesson, too many things that had many names. It was a hot, hot, hot, hot…hot mess.

I’d say the book was kinda good till I got to the world with the temple. Oh, and btw why couldn’t the MC’s have told the other worlders”we come in peace, look at this dagger, do you have it’s twin?” Instead they stood there and allowed themselves to be captured and possibly almost persecuted. Stupid.

Definitely got the feel that this book was rushed and cobbled together as a result.

Cheers Ella!

My respect for Ella Summers has gone up another notch. I have read literally thousands of books, mostly in the sci-fi,/fantasy/paranormal genre. And SO many authors do this one REALLY annoying thing... They realize that they left something out of their series.. Or they get some good fan reactions to one of the sub-characters in a series, Or they just want to expand on the story, Or Maybe they just want to give their fans a little extra something (Or, maybe they just want go sell another book). So they write a "novella" or a breakaway series with some of the other characters. If they do that, then it creates a HUGE problem for the reader as far as the chronology of the books are concerned. At some point, the timeline gets screwed up. Some authors will start adding silly change in the title by calling it "book 4.5 in TBE series...". One author has literally gone to TWO decimal places!! (Book 4.25).

Ella has been super smart and attentive with her Authors Notes, making it quite clear " Go to my website and download my free content BEFORE you read the next book..." And when this series spins off to give you some backstory, she says "Read this series before you read book #9!". I applaud her efforts at doing what so many authors haven't done, which it to keep the timeline in mind for the fans so you don't get lost thinking you are missing something important (or forgot) or you hit a spoiler for the next book.

Than you, thank you, thank you!

At first, I was super excited to get back into the Legion of Angels world. I mean, I wouldn't be getting and Leda and Nero, but this was something soooo yay!!!

I didn't find this book disappointing. It's filled with excitement and adventure. But, I wasn't as immersed in this one compared to any of the books in the Legion of Angels . It's due to the characters.

Cadence and Damiel are the two main characters in this series. It was interesting to see that, while Cadence was raised as the daughter of an Angel, she did not always have the same perspective. While we do get to find out about the very beginning of things, I wasn't as interested because I always viewed them as background characters in the Legion of Angels series. There isn't as much humor in it too.

The book in itself wasn't disappointment. There was action. There were surprises that served as great plot twists. I just miss the humor you can find with Leda.

Even so, I still want to read all the books in this series. I still want to see how Cadence and Damiel's relationship develop and how they look at things as everything goes on.

Note: I read the first and second book before reviewing this one. I really don't know if I combined the events together because the second book builds off of the first.

I need more!!! Right now!!!

I was just skimming and it was the best decision ever to click on this book. It was in my recommended books and I clicked on it just to ready the summary. I literally was drawn in from the description. I downloaded it this morning and gobbled it up in 9 hours (only took that long because of my little spawn).

I thought the book was over after their first mission together, and knew I’d be downloading the next book. Imagine my delight and enduring happiness that there was actually more and it only got better. The world and the characters are so likeable and others so hateable at the same time with the amazing writing. Shoot I was crying towards the end and I can count on one hand how many times I’ve done that in a book. I am duly in love. Imagine my surprise when I found this actually is a companion prequel to another series!! I mean Christmas is clearly happening for me. I dang near never leave reviews but there was no way that I was going to start the second book and immerse myself in the series without leaving praises.

This is a prequel trilogy to the Legion of Angel series, and we learn about Nero’s parents and their journey and that will give us better insight into Nero’s magic and according to the author, will enhance our reading of the Legion of Angels series, which is one of my favorite series. And the first book does not disappoint.

Cadence is a perfect daughter, perfect soldier and has been molded by her father since birth. Damiel is a Master Interrogator – hard, concise, and unforgiving – and doesn’t trust anyone. When the two are assigned together on a mission, they both will find out that neither are what they were led to believe.

There are a few good twists in this, and you don’t see Cadence moving up the ranks like we’ve watched Leda, this is much quicker and the romance – although a slow burn throughout this book, it’s much faster than Nero and Leda. I can’t say that I liked this one as much as the main series, but it’s very enlightening, and I am beginning to have a much clearer picture of Cadence and Damiel. 4.5 Stars

So this book is about Damiel and Candace. I like seeing them met and am looking forward to see if it somehow affects the Legion books. Also I really want to know what happen to the daggers because they don't seem to have them now. I was sad to read about Candace's friend, but boy did I call that early on. Will definitely continue with this series.

Excellent Angelic Entertainment!!🙏😍🌟
(Read using Kindle Unlimited)
Angel Fire (Immortal Legacy Book 1)

Cadence Lightbringer & Damiel Dragonsire are both in the Legion of Angels. He's their Chief Interrogator who's feared by all!😳 She's the daughter of an ArchAngel who is making her way through the ranks hoping to become an Angel herself soon-ish.😕

She's sent on an impossible mission, by her Father. She utilises her training brilliantly & with help, successfully rescued an Angel that the Dark Forces had captured. After this success she's promoted & Nyx, the First Angel, sends her on another mission. This time with Damiel - He thinks she's hiding something & is determined to do his duty by uncovering it!!😱

I love this World. In fact 'Legion of Angels' is one of my all time favourite series!😍 This is set prior to that timeline & gives us insight into the past we've only glimpsed before now.👍 Its exciting & explosive.😃💥

Cadence Lightbringer, daughter of General Silverstar, has just been promoted to Angel and given her first mission: to rescue the Sea Dragon Major Eva Doran. Unfortunately, her partner is Coronel Damiel Dragonsire, the Legion’s Prime Interrogator. But together they make an unusual, destined team.

This series is the very interesting story of Cadence and Damiel’s special relationship and marriage.

This first book begins with their awkward meeting and how their missions bring them together. It shows how perfect a counterbalance she is to him, softening his rigid exterior. Faith is annoying, but very cute. I love, love, love the ending (even if it is a cliffhanger).

Footnote: 1) In the audio version, Nyx’s voice sounds too haughty for the authoritative, yet friendly First Angel.

Fave scenes: Cadence’s Nyx trick, Cadence’s small hole, Damiel faking an injury and Faith’s magic explanations.

I can’t say enough good things about this book.

In this book Cadence is sent on a mission by Nyx, the first angel, to rescue a friend. Damiel is assigned to assist Cadence and watch over her. We learn a lot about Cadence and Damiel’s magic.
We also meet Cadence’s father and best friend.

Cadence has a great personality and she is very driven to be the perfect solider; however, she has some sass too (reminded me of Leda) and doesn’t let anyone walk over her. Damiel in the beginning is hard but you slowly start to see that charming personality we have seen in the Legion of Angel series, emerge.

Watching Cadence and Damiel interact was great. You can see why Nero is who he is by watching his parents.

The ending is great and I can’t wait for the next book. :)

A great follow up to the Legion of Angels.

I have read every book Ms. Sellers has written up to this point, except for book 2 of the Immortal legacy Series. (Of course, since I just finished book 1, I obviously haven’t had time to read book 2.) So this should tell you how much I’ve enjoyed reading her books up until now. And I have to say, Angel Fire definitely lived up to the high expectations that I have developed for her work. I highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys magic based fantasy. My only caveat to that would be to suggest that you read the Legion of Angels series first. Though this is written where it can work as a standalone series, I believe you would enjoy it better with the knowledge that the first series will give you.

A fiery read!

Convinced she is not the perfect soldier everyone believes her to be, he will stop at nothing to expose her...

Oh holly hell! What a fine read. I'm been dying to read about these characters and their origin story - how they met, fell in love and so on and I got to say I'm so impressed by these two.

The author has truly outdone herself. All that waiting was so flippin' worth it!

Full of gods, powers, action, adventure, angels, secrecy, demigods, surprises, truths, danger and romance.

Perfect for readers of paranormal romance/urban fantasy.
