This story was such a unique blend of horror, thrills, and mystery, I couldn't put it down. As a fan of thrillers, I tend to see the ending/twist coming from a mile away — with this one, I had no clue what was going to happen next. And yet, when the twists and mysteries were revealed, I could look back and see that the foundation had been laid. I had to actively resist reading through the whole thing in one sitting.
I look forward to re-reading when Represent publishes this as an original novel, as it truly can stand on its own.

I never did end up finishing this story, but I wish I had. And maybe one day, I will. Because this story is good. Really, really good.
Despite my love for the genre, I've never been able to handle horror very well. And yet, I kept reading the story long after I would have dropped others, because I wanted to know. The story and the characters were all so compelling, and the atmosphere deliciously creepy. I love small town horror. I love creepy small towns with a ~mysterious past~. And what I was able to read of this story captured that perfectly.
Reading this story is what made me understand why people love horror so much. The rush of adrenaline I got from reading it and the way my heart pounded was a very eye-opening experience, that's for sure.
I hope that one day, I'll be brave enough to finish it. I know I'll have a lot to look forward to when I do get back around to it.
