This book. Holy cripes. I don't even know where to begin. The entire story was just comically bad. First of all, there was not one single character I liked. Kenna the assistant wins the prize for shittiest advice giver ever. Mariah was a farce unto herself. Gavin was... the least idiotic. Gia was a hot mess. Her emotions were all over the place like a ping pong ball for no logical reason. And I still have no clue what caused the initial falling out in Las Vegas because sane people ordinarily don't lose their shit after a night of consensual hooking up.

The plot wtfs were numerous. Doctors in private practice living a billionaire lifestyle. The habitual lack of communication. The plot details that seem to shift with the wind. First Gavin's father is a drunken abuser who leaves them, never to be seen or heard from again, only for us to later on learn his father died a few years back. The details around why he left Gia all those years ago changed too many times to count. First there was cheating, then he was lied to, then he came over to tell her it was over, then it's changed to she found out through hearsay.

And don't even get me started on the misleading summary or the never ending slew of grammatical errors. Ugh.

Another one of those tales where if the heroine would just shut the f**k up and let the guy speak and the guy actually opened his mouth and explained things when he had the chance, the story would be MUCH shorter and actually BETTER!

Got to love a book that straight up lies to you. The actual summary of the book:

Nine months later…
I’ve got a bun in the oven.
And contractions that are just MINUTES apart!
“We’ve had an emergency and your doctor can’t make it. But, you’re in great hands. Dr. Gavin will be right in.”
Guess now’s the time I tell him my secret!!
Please excuse me while I VOMIT!!

Now, reading that, you could safely assume that not only did she not tell the baby daddy about his future parental status, but that he finds out as he helps deliver her baby. An interesting and amusing scenario, and the whole reason I was interested in reading it. In actuality, she doesn't even have the baby in the hospital, and the father had already known about it for several months.

That aside, the plot hinged around a very, very stupid set of details. They do, however, involve spoilers...so here is your spoiler warning.



So the whole reason gia(the main character) hates the doctor is because she loved him back in high school but apparently he cheated on her with her high school bully Mariah, then got her pregnant and married her to be responsible. You find out later that what actually happened was that apparently doc dated Mariah before getting together with gia, and Mariah got jealous so pretended to be pregnant so doc would marry her. Anyway gia finds out "the truth", and immediately forgives doc and falls back in love with him.
So this is dumb for multiple reason.

Reason number one-the fact that they were supposedly best friends from a young age, and doc supposedly cared deeply about her. Knowing that, how could he date a girl who bullied and was mean to her throughout high school? What asshole does that? And why would gia still be friends with him/date him knowing her high school bully had him first? I could never, ever date someone who was in a relationship with someone who tormented me, and I can't believe any woman would.

Reason number 2. Okay, realistically it only takes between 2 and 4 weeks after having sex to show signs of pregnancy. So knowing that, you're telling me that not only did he break off with his ex, start dating gia, fall madly in love with her, and then leave and get married all in enough time for it to be found out that she wasn't pregnant? This is unrealistic, juvenile, and just so incredibly stupid of a plot point. Hell I'd rather a situation like in "rake's redemption" where the main character was roofied and forced to have sex. That would've made more sense, especially with Mariah's psycho deranged personality.

Reason 3- in addition to the whole fake baby thing, mariah also used the information about gia's father being a murderer to coerce doc into marrying her. Again, so stupid. Um hello, it would have been all over the news, they don't exactly keep the prosecution of known murderers out of the public eye. So why was the possibility of people finding out even a concern?! People were going to find out.



Even if the blurb hadn't been full of blatant lies, this book is still awful. The main characters are both malignant morons, and honestly they deserve each. Truly terrible book.

Oh, jeez. Where to start...

This guy. This fucking guy. He is not a good character. I don’t know what the author was going for, alpha, bully, jackass, but she sure succeeded with that last one. I guess we’re supposed to root for him & his redemption arc? He was just a nightmare. Until about 85% of the book, he was only interested in sex with the fmc. He remembered what he did in the past, but thought he didn’t need to at least apologize.

There was no communication in this book.

The author also forgot what she was writing. In the beginning, Gavin broke up with her in person saying he cheated on her. At the end, she said she was told secondhand & he didn’t even tell her in person that any of this happened. Also, that his relationship with Mariah happened before he started going out with fmc, Gia. Also-also, Gia & Gavin had been going out for months, Mariah would have shown at that point.

The other instance was what happened to his dad. Did he walk out never to be seen again or did he die a few years ago after a happy life with Gavin’s mom?

This book.

Edit: shit, I almost forgot about the whole timeline issue. Supposedly, at the beginning of the story, she’s been into him since 10th grade. They’ve just graduated when the book begins. Then, at about 60%, they’ve been friends for years & he was her confidante.

Gavin hurt Gia back in school and that is when she stopped trusting men. She didn’t expect to see him years later at an auction event she planning. Gavin begs her to bid on him as he is worried his ex-wife will. She wins and they have a wonderful time together and she ends up pregnant. Will Gavin discover her pregnancy? Fast-paced read with lots of drama, steam and emotion. Great characters and an entertaining story. I liked it.

Good book, plot inconsistencies drove me a little crazy

The book was enjoyable and worth reading. I really struggled with getting past inconsistencies in the plot, starting out with the huge one - Gia was engaged to Duncan's brother Andrew in the epilogue of the prior book. Not one mention was made of this relationship. There were other issues with consistent info regarding Gavin's home life growing up, etc. Again, story was ok and did not feel like my time was wasted however I struggle with plot errors and getting past them.

The Heart Never Forgets

Everybody brings the experiences of their past forward into the present, and which often give shape to the future. For Gia Stone and Gavin Davenport their past included many similar and shared experiences, helping the two friends form lifelong, even if unacknowledged, connections.

I was hooked into the story from the prologue. I haven't read the first book in this series but they're all standalones, plus this was free on Amazon at the time, the synopsis sounded interesting and also I've been watching the medical drama, The Good Doctor, so I was in the mood for a doctor romance. However, 30% into the novel and I lost interest in the plot and characters.

The story and timeline of the synopsis seems different to the actually timeline of the book. From the synopsis it says "Nine months later...I've got a bun in the oven. And contractions that are just MINUTES apart! We're in a cabin in the middle of the woods. And I can't make it in time to the hospital." So naturally, since it's mentioned in the synopsis I assumed that scene would happen pretty early on in the book. But it didn't. It literally happened in like the last chapter of the book. So I got into this book with the impression that the delivery happens early on and then the story picks off with the two main characters' relationship with a baby. I feel like I've been deceived. Besides that, I wasn't crazy about the Gavin and I didn't believe that he really love her. His actions and words weren't convincing. Also, I couldn't feel that the Gia loved him. There was also a side plot that was not really explained properly and left me annoyed Gavin acted like he didn't want to tell Gia the real reason why he left her in high school to be with Mariah who was "pregnant". When Gia asked him years later why he and Mariah broke up, he got all serious and devastated, making it seem like Mariah had a miscarriage or got an abortion which was why he didn't want to speak about it. But all Mariah did was lie about being pregnant in the first place. So why did he have to be so serious and get closed off when Gia mentioned it like 9 years later? Nothing was stopping him from telling her. Humiliation that he fell for the lie? Not a good enough excuse for letting Gia be heartbroken the whole time and he had so many chances to tell Gia but never did.

A lack of communication romance

This book was Bar to enjoy for many reasons. First calling it a secret baby romance is misleading because "the secret baby" aspect of the book isn't introduced until the last 15% of the book. Not even a quarter of the book is about the secret pregnancy so it makes the end feel rushed because you're ending the book but also introducing another aspect to the book.
I struggled with liking the characters because of the lack of communication the main characters had in pretty much all of their dialogue. The book was more about the lack of communication between the two leads than about a secret pregnancy. Nothing is frustrating to a reader than a storyline without depth. Writing hundreds of pages about the characters continuously skating around the topics that need to be discussed is Game of Thrones last season annoying. For examples, so much time was spent on Gavin not telling Gia the truth, arguing with her about not letting him inside her apartment, and choosing to have sex instead, and again not informing her afterwards. This book is filled with half hearted writing, meaning instead of digging a little deeper to find the real storyline it's just lackadaisical dialogue about nothing.
Another issue I struggled with is the lack of a description of Gia. All that was described about her was her eye color while Galvin had his eye and hair color described. I think in the prior book it was said she had black hair but I can't recall. It's very disappointing that the main character of THIS book gets more descriptions as a supporting character in another book than her own book. You wouldn't read a shifter book that described every other shifter except the main character.

Gia and Gavin have been friends since childhood. They were once very much in young love until right at the end of high school, when Gavin ends his relationship with Gia only for her to find out he is getting married to her high school bully who is pregnant. Years later Gia now has a great career and is a strong, independent woman. However, Gia will find the wounds that have never healed from so many years before are soon to be reopened when she unexpectedly runs into Gavin at a charity event she has planned. Will this be her chance to rekindle an old flame, or will she still harbor anger for the past. Due some turn of events with the charity auction Gia finds herself having to face her past on a weekend away in Vegas with Gavin. Things quickly heat up between these two like they were never apart. Soon Gia finds herself regretting her decisions and returns to her life. Soon though she is facing much bigger problems than just leaving Gavin behind. While Gia wants to be in denial about her situation she is also struggling with her feelings for Gavin. Still feeling like he betrayed her all those years ago. Gavin who has always cared about Gia, has never realized that he loved her. He has always been the player. Will he realize in time that he really loves her? Will he share the truth about their past in time to make a difference? Gia has a secret, is she going to tell Gavin? To find out all the answers you have to check out the book. It is a definite must read!!

In this book we meet Gia Stone and Gavin Davenport. Gia is determined to help her friend and her husband with the charity auction they are setting up for the Pitt Medical Autism Research Foundation. You will remember the people who head up this foundation from Doctor's Secret. See Gia is a event planner. She has been asked to set up and run their event for the night. See Gia tries to plan for everything and doesn't like any last minute changes. So when Duncan asks her if he can add just one more bachelor she makes him sweat for a few. When she finds out it is Gavin she wants to kill him rather than allow him in. See not many people know about their past and she is determined to keep it that way. Though she still may want his body there is no way she wants him back in her life to hurt her again. Gavin can't believe it the one woman he could never get over is right in front of him. If he can only get her to give him another chance he knows he can make up for the mistakes of his past. What happens though when it seems like the past is repeating itself again? Will the carnage be to much or is there a HEA in their future?

Another amazing hit by this author. It does have its ups and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin the story for any other readers. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Gia is an event planner who sees her former good friend and high school boyfriend, Gavin, now a successful doctor, at a charity auction she planned. Gavin had broken up with Gia years ago to marry his former girlfriend who told him she was pregnant and Gia was still upset about that situation. . Gavin asks Gia to bid on him in the date auction so his greedy ex-wife wouldn’t win the date. Gia wins a weekend in Vegas with Gavin and her assistant talks her into going for the well needed break. They become intimate in Vegas but she has regrets the following morning and abruptly leaves for home. When Gia realizes that she is pregnant will she tell Gavin about the baby or will misunderstandings keep them apart?

I give this book 4.5 stars. I enjoyed this story where former lovers reconnect many years later and find that they still have feelings and unresolved issues. Communication between the two seemed to be an issue, Gia had to learn from her friend that Gavin’s ex-wife had lied about being pregnant and he had no feelings for his ex. However, I always find the surprise pregnancy rather incredulous especially considering he is a doctor and had a surprise pregnancy announcement in his past. The epilogue was a perfect ending for their story.

This book left an impression on me about how so many misunderstandings and secrets could keep two people that clearly love each other apart. Gavin Davenport has been in love with Gia Stone since high school but when a rival wants Gavin she will stop at nothing to get him and what Mariah Yarbrough wants she gets and she will lie and pretend she is pregnant and spill secrets and hurt Gia to get him and he falls for it but only to save Gia. Now 10rys later there paths cross again at an auction that Gia and her best friend Kenna have organised for her best friends Duncan and Annie who own and run Pitt Medical centres. But what Gia didn’t intend to was win the trip to Vegas with him, but now here she was in vegas with Gavin trying to keep her mind off his gorgeous body and what she wants to do to him and all the while Gavin is trying to keep his hands of the most beautiful woman in the world Gia. Romance, Vegas, drinks and one perfect night together results in a huge fight and she storms out never wanting to see him again only to find out later she is pregnant. Can these two discuss what happened and put the past behind them once a d for all and try for a future together or will an old rival cause problems.

Another Good Book

They were a couple back in high school. Yet, he was tricked into another relationship and broke her heart. After several years they meet again, his friend asks her to allow him to be added to the bachelor auction that is part of the night’s events in the party to raise money for a research center of Pit Medical. Once he’s added to the list, his ex wife shows her stuff. Gavin then asks Gia to help him out by bidding on him so the ex wife can’t win him. They then win a weekend in Vegas and she can’t let go of the past. Once back home, she ignores him for awhile until her friend Annie goes into labor and they can’t find her husband, Duncan, so they call Gavin to help them out. Gavin finds Duncan and gets Annie to the hospital. He then tries to get Gia alone, but she’s not having it. She finds out that she’s pregnant with his child and when she goes to his office to tell him, his ex wife is there and she has her body wrapped around his. Gia then decides that she will not let him know and will raise the child alone. Gavin then takes a couple of weeks vacation time and realizes that he’s still in love with Gia. When he comes home he was going for dinner with Duncan and Annie, however, Duncan says he needs to see Gia. They talk it out and become a couple and they go on a camping trip and she goes into labor.

Gia is the event planner of a charity auction that is raising money for Annie and Duncan's autism foundation. Duncan asks her to allow Gavin to be a last-minute addition to the bachelor auction, but Duncan doesn't know that Gavin and Gia have a history. When Gavin begs Gia to bid on him to save him from Mariah, she only agrees because she hates Mariah as much as he does. Gia doesn't know the full story between them, just that Mariah is the reason they weren't together. The auction leads to them having to spend a weekend in Vagas where things get out of hand and Gia doesn't handle it well. Will Gavin come clean about his past and why he broke Gia's heart? Will what happened in Vagas stay in Vagas, or will it follow them home?

Issues
Gia is the best friend from book 1 and this is her story, but she isn't with Andrew the attorney as book 1 eluded to. There are also inconsistencies in the prologue- bed, stool, bed again? Other typos... Also, atthe very end where it talks about Gia's assistant, Kenna, it calls her Mariah. The story was good, just needs some more editing.

This story is a real emotional rollercoaster ride to healing and love.When Duncan asks Gia his friend an the event planner if they can add a bachelor to the auction she says ok.He's a famous surgeon Gavin ,Gia freezes it can't be but it is the Gavin that broke her heart years ago and he's more muscle bound hot hunk than he was. She says hi to him she's got to get away from him.She meets her assistant an her assistant says she's voting on the fireman. When Gavin sees his ice queen ex wife walking toward him he hates it she sits down
an tries flirting with him.He says won't husband number 7 get mad.She says husband 4 am they have a arrangement .He makes smart remarks an tries to get his attention.Then he rushes to Gia asks her a favor bid against Norah an he'll pay whatever it takes the money is for charity.While sitting at the seat he doesn't know if she will help out or not.There are so many twists and turns to this story will keep you riveted until the very last page and leave you begging for more.I love the way this amazing author brings the characters to life before your eyes and makes you feel their emotions and their pain.I can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented author.

This is a beautifully second chance romance story.Gia is an event planner.She doing a second check on the charity function she put together for her friends Duncan an his wife Annie. As she does the walk around Duncan comes up to her telling her everything is perfect but do they have room for another bachelor for the auction.She follows him he says he's a famous doctor an his name is Gavin,he a great guy.Gia stops it can't be the Gavin that broke her heart. She forced a s!ile an welcomed him to the auction then said she needed to check on something.Her hands were shaking her heart racing how can he still affect her ,yes he's even more handsome than high school.As Gavin sat at the table of bachelor's up walks the devil herself his ex wife.Will Gia and Gavin ever get there second chance?Will his ex make it seem as though they are together again?Will spending time in Vegas with Gavin lead to life long results.There are so many twists and turns to this story will keep you riveted until the very last page and leave you begging for more.I love the way this amazing author brings the characters to life before your eyes and you can feel their emotions and their pain.I can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented author.

This story is book 2 of Doctor's Surprise Delivery: A Secret Baby Romance (Doctors of Denver) delves into the past and current lives of Gia and Gavin who were friends since childhood and were lovers while in high school. The story bounces back and forth from the past when Gavin broke Gia’s heart when he broke up with her and married the “mean” girl at school that Gia absolutely hated, leaving Gia believing that Mariah (Mean Girl) was pregnant and the baby was his! Jump forward to the here and now where Gia and Gavin meet again and the divorced Gavin proceeds to woo Gia the only woman he has ever loved. So hang on tight the roller coaster ride begins! Lots of emotions, drama, anger, heartbreak, amazing chemistry and some unbelievable steam. Will Gavin be able to convince Gia how much he loves and has always loved her? Can Gia forgive Gavin for the many many times he has broken her heart? Will the two be able to walk away from the past and create new memories and happiness? I thoroughly enjoyed this love story. Gavin and Gia were a couple in high school and best friends. Then the mean girl who had bullied Gia all through middle school and high school came between them with her lies, deception and blackmail. Gavin broke her heart and she never got over the heartbreak. Seventeen years later, their paths cross again and the old feelings are still there. Gia is determined to not let him into her life and break her heart again. An emotional storyline with plenty of humor, angst, misunderstandings, stubbornness, and plenty of passion before the wrongs are made right. The characters were well developed. Gavin was a total alpha with his good looks, cocky attitude, charm and sex appeal. Gia is a strong independent young woman who made a successful business and name for herself but had a stubbornness to her. She could have saved herself some heart ache if she would have given Gavin a chance to explain things. Some editing issues, but all in all I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Good book but facts jumbled a bit

Good book in the surprise pregnancy genre overall. I would say this deserves a 4.3 or 4.4 overall kindle unlimted score but my view of it 3.4. The couple seemed to have chemistry and they teased eachother like real couples would. Sex was good except only oral for her not him. Probably 4 or 5 sex scenes which were the right amount spaced out. So for non mutual oral but good amount and quality to the scenes ID give it a 7/10 on sex I meter. A little repetitive and annoying them breaking apart then back together for a second before breaking up for the ‘final’ time again. Unfortunately, bc they did it so many times with sorta the same scenes (her yelling at him to get out of her apartment and that she never wants to see him again) the breakups didn’t have the same weight needed for a true conflict zenith. The factual errors were noticeable bc they were about important backstory facts. All in all I thought they needed to be happy w one another for a bit longer at least one of the times they hook up. Would I read again- yes. That’s why average review total should be 4.4 or 4.375.

OK, let's get this straight. Dr Gavin Davenport was a bit of an idiot when he was younger. Well-intentioned, but honestly, pretty stupid. Instead of telling Gia, the girl he loved, what the problem was and trying to work it out together, instead he decided to destroy her heart, marry a psychotic narcissist - for all of six weeks apparently - thinking doing so wouldn't really hurt Gia.

But it did, it very nearly broke her. He wasn't around to see it, but she was strong enough to make a success of herself. His reaction to Mariah's manipulation cost both him and Gia to lose nearly 20 years of happiness. For a smart man (successful, private practice owning, best in his field orthopedic surgeon), he was as dim as a 10w light bulb.

Still despite his multiple opportunities to tell Gia the truth, she eventually finds out the truth behind it all (*still* not from him!!) and in the end all ends happily.

Gavin and Gia were sweethearts in high school. Gia thought they would be together forever until he broke up with her and married someone else. His betrayal had a strong effect on her and she is determined to stay away from him. They when she is organizing a charity auction, a friend came up and said that his friend would be a perfect addition to the bachelor auction. The Gia's horrified surprise, the bachelor is Gavin, more handsome and sexy as ever. Against her instincts she allows Gavin into the auction and impusively bids on him. They have a hot passionate night but there are consequences.

Gavin has always loved Gia and hated dumping her in high school. An old girl friend had come to him and said she was pregnant with his child. He knew it could be a possibility so he did his duty and married her to later find out she had lied. Now he has lost all trust in women and relationships.

Can two old lovers learn to trust again?

Realising Their True Destiny -
Gavin and Gia were best friends, but soon changed into lovers whilst they were in high school, but a lie broke them up and shattered their lives. A second chance encounter sent them on a rollercoaster ride, that left them with a little surprise, as another lie and misunderstanding tore them apart again. However, Gavin’s determination and the interference of good friends, helped them find their way back together.

This story is a real page turner, that will have you rooting for Gavin and Gia, whilst thinking of ways to get rid of Mariah permanently and not get caught 😝😝. It was wonderful to read about a stubborn, strong willed woman, stand up for herself and not sit back and cower. This is a book that deserves to be on your weekend reading list immediately. You will not be disappointed by buying it.

Some doors are not as tightly nailed shut, as we think. Gavin and Gia knew each other in high school. Then he left breaking her heart. She hardened her heart and fortified her walls. Her baggage got heavier, but she still dragged it with her as time moved on. Years later, Duncan (Gavin's best friend) had hired Gia, an event planner to handle the charity auction. Surprise, surprise Gavin was an unexpected late addition as a favor to Duncan. Additional surprise, Gavin had a HUGE favor and asked Gia to outbid his wife, who was a major piece of work. From there, things get complicated when feelings get involved and other elements are added. Can Gia keep her walls up? Does Gavin want to tear her walls down? Does Gavin want to revisit him and Gia? Can Gia forgive? Nice story, a bit of excitement. Lotsa conflict resolution required. Nicely developed characters, feisty, flawed and fabulous. Well done! Gavin tore Gia’s heart to shreds in high school when he left her and married her tormentor Mariah because she was pregnant. Now 17+ years later he shows up at a charity event she’s running as the event planner and he’s being auctioned off for a date. Gavin comes across as cocky and a playboy smooth talker. Gia is focused on building her business and is great at it. Gia is also very stubborn and a person who takes action instead of sitting by. The two can’t seem to avoid the chemistry between them. Fear and hurt keep Gia closed off. Regret and finally facing his true feelings keep Gavin persistent. The two need to not only get beyond their past but Mariah hasn’t changed a bit from the mean girl, jealous, vindictive trouble causing *itch she’s always been and stirs the pot more. This is a story of secrets, reflection, forgiveness and hea.

Gia and Gavin Donovan have had a connection since a very early age, and heartbreaking history since high school when Gavin betrayed her and married her H. S. Nemesis. I have oft enjoyed KC Crowne’s books, but this one had too much going on for me to wrap my arms around. I had to reread page after page several times to stay on top of things. Gia had a love hate relationship with Dr. Donovan and plenty of friendly advice for her to figure out what she really wanted out of life. Quite frankly I had my doubts that a HEA was achievable. I quit reading this book temporarily but opened it back up to finish my ARC promise. While not a winner in my books, it is deserving of a 3 star rating. A muddled storyline, far too many antsy confrontations kept this book in the mediocre range, but won’t keep me from reading more of Crowne’s work.
