Tyler: Well, I’m back in Port Dale for the summer, staying with Elliot and Clay. Not my original plan, but that got busted. I never expected to run into him. He looked good, even better than before. Nate had been more than just my best friend, he was my ‘almost’ first boyfriend. Then he was suddenly removed from my life. I’d thought it was for good but then, as I’ve recently found out, plans change! Now we’re both back in Port Dale. Can we pick up where we left off? Should we? Well, the answer to that was out of our hands when the trouble started.
Nathaniel: My life has always been determined by my father. He made me leave Port Dale, he chose my college, and he brought me back when my grades dropped. Then I ran into Tyler and, wow, he’s changed…for the better! Getting together again could be a blessing… or a curse if my father ever finds out. Can I keep Tyler a secret from him? Should I? Little did we know, trouble was waiting right around the corner, and it would put all our lives in danger.
Can Tyler and Nate rekindle their old flame, or will Nate’s father win again? Or is there something else in play, something much more deadly?

Can Tyler and Nate rekindle their old flame, or will Nate’s father win again? Or is there something else in play, something much more deadly? If you have read any of this series, you may remember these two characters from two other books. Tyler, the impish, now reformed teenage who first appeared in Hit or Miss, to Kill or Kiss Book 2 of the series, with Nathaniel, who is a part of one of Port Dale's "power families" and was first introduced to us in Drawing the Doctor... Book 3.
Elliott and Clay are reunited in this one. But first, the story takes up six years after we first met Tyler. Tyler has "grown up". or at least matured...and is now a tall blond bisexual "hunk" that is home from college for the summer...and his "home" is now at Elliott and Clay's house.
Tyler's only girlfriend that he ever really had, had been caught cheating on him... so he decided to take a chance and pay a visit to the local gay club. He really wasn't having a good time until he accidentally bumps into...again literally... someone and realizes that he has managed to dump his drink all over the guy who, of course, turns out to be Nathaniel.
We'd already met Nathaniel, before the "drink dumping" incident...and it wasn't a very pleasant meeting. He had been ordered home from college in the east by his deeply controlling and extremely homophobic, father. He's only in the bar because of subterfuge by one of his supposed "handlers". Yeah....his father is a VERY determined man.
When Nathaniel looks up and recognizes the now, taller Tyler, they both stare at one another in complete shock! They had once been best friends that were heading into the "boyfriend territory" in high school...that is until they were caught by one of Nathaniel's "handlers". The result was his father shipping him off East before he and Tyler ever had the chance to talk or settle things.
Now, they have that lost chance, but it seems that there are at least a gazillion issues that they have to overcome. These include the yet present and intense scrutiny of Nathaniel's life by his father, and there has recently been a budding kidnapping plot that brings into play the particularly effective, if somewhat violent and nasty, skills of Elliott and especially Clay.
This whole story becomes quiet a "wild ride"...making this is a terrifically exciting book with all sorts of wacky twists and turns. In the end we have experienced a super excursion into the lives and loves of these men of Port Dale. Good work, Mr. Alexander and thank you for another great read with a happy ending. 5Carol420
Reread 19-21.09.2024 Chciałam ponownie zerknąć jeszcze na Claya i Elliota, zatem odświeżyłam sobie i ten tom - i zdecydowanie podtrzymuję swoją opinię sprzed roku.
* * * * * * *
* This is no simple romance ! We get thrills, fights, guns, and more. Tyler, 21, tall, muscled, dirty blonde hair, has come home from school for the summer, after a breakup where he was cheated on. Elliot, former Marine and secretive Clay are partners who helped get Tyler's life on a solid path even before his Mom died. Nathaniel, 20, with dark hair, is rich, handsome, and is home because his grades were slumping and his controlling father wants him to help his Senate campaign.
Tyler never stopped loving Nate and still wants him. Nate wants to be able to have his own life. So, our guys sneak around, dodge Nate's security guards and try to have time together.
Things change when Nate and Tyler are brutally attacked by men in black who want to kidnap Nate. We continue to see the heartless father, and Elliot, Clay and Tyler, help Nate.
Another attack and crash, a violent fight, injuries, hot sexy time and more. It's a thriller with marvelous characters. The police take over the crimes by the bad guys.
Tyler is strong and sure, plus Nate finally gains his strength and backbone. A wonderful story with a terrific epilogue. Enjoy !
3.8 stars.. A good start to the book as both characters return home for the summer. Its a case of hidey go seek as Nate tries to evade his protectors or his jail keepers. But there's also bad guys after him too. I wanted to love this one I enjoyed Elliott and Clay's brief banter at the start but it kinda killed it for me with the narrate in between (don't know if it was just me)This review is hard to sum up my thoughts in regards to scenes, some are great where as others just so so. Includes Bi-sexual character, second chances, first love, danger, and more.
Tyler 21 is back home for the summer from school. Nathaniel was the Majors son back home and under the thumb as father was up for elections.
Why can’t people be accepted for who they are Tyler was back in Port Dale for the summer staying with Elliot and Clay because of something that just happened but he wasn’t ready to talk about it. It was good being back and he could never imagine who he’s going to bump into. Nathanial was back home because his father didn’t warrant him staying away as he is grades had dropped and he thought having a Nathaniel home would remind him of the man he was meant to be. Three years before Nathanial was caught kissing Tyler and his father had sent him across the country as far away as possible to go to school to get him away from Tyler. And to remind him that the family name meant everything and they wouldn’t except a gay man in the family. Now his father was going up for re-election and he was making Nathaniel’s life difficult. On a rare night that he escapes the mansion he goes to the local gay bar and who does he bump into??? Tyler!! Before the kiss they had been the best of friends and it was excellent just to run into him but will Nathaniel take the risk of spending time with Tyler again?? Will Tyler and Nathanial ever get the chance to be the people they want to be?? Could there ever be a future of them together?? I absolutely Couldn’t put this book down I was just totally lost in their story. I was so angry at Nathanial‘s father thinking that every think was about him and he just never saw his son in front of him. Even when Nathanial‘s life is at risk it’s still all about the mayor. But will Nathaniel ever be able to stand up to him?? It’s amazing what somebody would do when they need too and I was cheering Nathanial and Tyler on. I could reread this story again now and get totally lost again. A brilliant book and easy five-star read.

Port Dale is not all sweetness and light. That was revealed in Clay and Elliot book "Hit or Miss, to Kill or Kiss. In this story we read about the citizens on the periphery of Fort Dale. Namely the machinations of a certain mayor and his political ambitions no matter the dues he subjugates and inflects on his son to gain his ambitions. Into this picture comes Tyler who's grown up and returns to Port Dale to live with Clay and Elliot for the summer and thus reintroduces himself to his boyhood friend from his past Nathaniel Carter. Tyler was from the wrong side of the tracks while Nate was from the rich and powerful Carter family and neither believed their situation would ever work so it was splitsville. Because of Clay and Elliot's influence Tyler is on the path to becoming an FBI agent. Nate is in a far different position as his homophobic father who keeps Nate under his thumb's control and Nate's proclivities secret. Mr. alexander weaves a story of strife, angst, and retribution in this fifth story of the Heros of Port Dale series. A quote from Clay shown in Hit or Miss, Kill or Kiss kinda sums up Tyler's view: "don't stop looking for the good in people. It can surprise you how often you're right." This was a satisfying read for me for the free copy I received via Booksprout and I'm leaving a voluntary review here.

This is sweet love story that ramps up the drama as it goes on. Tyler and Nate met as teenagers and were best friends. Until the day their curiosity and attraction led to a kiss, a kiss that was witnessed by someone loyal to Nate's father, who informed him about it. Mayor Carter disapproved of homosexuality, so he packed Nate up and sent him away to school. It's been 3 years since they've seen each, and neither thought that they would ever see each other again. But when Tyler suddenly comes home for the summer after his junior year of college, instead of moving into a place with his girlfriend, and Nate is home because his grades are slipping, Ty literally bumps into Nate at a gay bar. Nate is supposed to be at home, being protected by his father's hired men, but he needed to get out of the house. Ty didn't feel like talking to his father figure friends he lived with, so he went somewhere they recommended. Once they see each other, their friendship picks up where it left off, but with the same issues they had as teens, namely Nate's father. But they continue to get together to hang out. They decide to take the relationship a step further, only to be interrupted by a couple of nasty guys. Nate tries to walk away, but trouble follows Nate, and Ty needs to help.
This book is fantastic and I absolutely loved it! The story of Nate and Tyler is one of best friends who don't get a chance to see if they could be more only to come together years later to find out that they absolutely can be. The son of the mayor, Nate is always under his father's thumb and is being forced to live a life he doesn't want. When he comes home from college to avoid the blemish of his slipping grades, he manages to reconnect with Tyler. The two are soon meeting frequently but trouble will arrive when men show up to kidnap Nate. Tyler will fight them off but Nate will realize that Tyler deserves better than the trouble Nate brings and so he sends him away. That works, until Tyler realizes the men trying to kidnap Nate are following him. He will arrive in time to rescue Nate and he will be safe at Tyler's house until the men show up there with back up. Tyler's guardians, Elliot and Clay are there to bring down the bad guys and Nate and Tyler will end up hurt and in the hospital. It is at this point, that Nate finally realizes just how much Tyler means to him and that he is willing to turn his back on his father to have the relationship he wants with the man he loves.

Tyler has returned to Port Dale for the summer, only to be surprised when he finds that Nate, his almost first boyfriend, had also returned! He thought they would never see each other again.
Nate’s father is the bigoted mayor who puts reputation ahead of everything, including his son’s happiness. He totally ruled Nate’s life, making all the big decisions for him and moving him around like a chess piece. As Tyler and Nate showed interest in each other, Nate was put in private school far away from Port Dale. When Nate’s grades dropped, his father moved him back to Port Dale. Nate and Tyler meet up again and easily go back to being the friends they used to be until Nate’s father intrudes once again in his life. This time, feeling their previous attraction is still strong, will they give their love another chance? Or will they be forced to once again give up their future and walk away?
I need a little ARC break, and I figured I might as well be productive about it (getting one step closer to crossing another author off my to-binge list). Here's "Where We Left Off." It's the fifth book in Romeo Alexander's Heroes of Port Dale series. ["Tyler: Well, I’m back in Port Dale for the summer, staying with Elliot and Clay.
Or is there something else in play, something much more deadly?"]
Tyler is from book two (and can I saw how giddy I am that Tyler is friends with Elliott/Clay?!), though Nathaniel (I believe) is new.
These two were cute as hell. And the total opposite of what I had assumed they’d be (take those cliches and ropes and flip them folks—and if you can’t quiiiiite see it, trust me, it’s good).
Tyler is still adorable as hell, though he’s a beefcake now. He’s fierce and loyal and stubborn and condiment. Enter Nate. Nate is a shell, a broken-down, hiding behind a wall, no emotions allowed, puppet for his father. He’s hesitant and shy and in search of freedom, if only for a few hours. Enter Tyler.
This novel was fast paced with some mystery and intrigue and danger and fluff all around.
And yes, Nate, you’re right: Clay is dangerous and suspicious as hell ;)
Trigger Warnings: violence, kidnapping, injuries, car accidents horrible fathers, and more.
I’m a new fan of Romeo Alexander’s and I’m so glad that they were recommended to me through Amazon a few months ago as I’ve loved reading both The Men of Fort Dale & Heroes of Port Dale series as I couldn’t put either of them down and this book was no exception, I was hooked from start to finish. I loved that Tyler got a story, as he was introduced to us in Clay & Elliot’s story Hit or Miss, or to Kiss or Kill when he went to try and rob Clay at only 15 years old as he thought that Clay looked like he’d be an easy target lol, man was he wrong but Clay told him to sort his life out after kicking his a*se which worked. This book is 5 years after the conclusion of Clay & Elliot’s story. Tyler’s mum passed away so he’s basically living with Clay & Elliot when he’s home from college. Tyler had a best friend/could’ve been first boyfriend Nate if Nate’s rich, powerful. colossal d*ckhead of a father hadn’t shipped Nate off to the other side of the state after his assistant told him that he’d found Tyler and Nate kissing. It wasn’t for Nate’s benefit but his own and he basically manipulates Nate into doing what he wants, he’s really controlling. When Tyler comes home from College for the Summer he goes out and ends up bumping into a guy and spilling his drink on him, only to realise that it’s Nate, after hearing him speak. Nate is still under his dad’s rule so can’t really start anything with Tyler but they swap numbers and agree to meet up for coffee. Their relationship slowly grows until they’re about to take it to the next level, these guys show up and try and abd*ct Nate so Tyler steps in to save the day using the moves taught to him by Clay & Elliot. To say Nate’s father isn’t happy when he finds out that Nate snuck out without his security detail so Nate does the noble thing and basically feeds Tyler some bullsh*t to get him to let him go. Since he believes that Tyler deserves everything that he can’t give him. I love that Tyler and Nate’s relationship progresses slowly throughout the book and I loved getting more of Clay & Elliot. I’d recommend this book, series & author to anyone.
This is the second series, by Romeo Alexander, that I’ve fallen in love with, and I’ve read/listened to both series out of order. The thing about his series is that they can be read in any order, without too much hassle or confusion—even if there’s a connection with a previous book. For example, we first met Tyler in book two. He had a very...interesting introduction to Clay. It was memorable, and impactful. This book is Tyler’s story.
Tyler and Nate have both changed so much since the were ripped apart, after being caught together as teenagers. While they’ve definitely changed physically, one thing has stayed the same. Nate’s dad is still...what was it Tyler called him? Oh, yeah—a Giant Gaping A$$hole. I chuckled at that one. Well done, Romeo Alexander. That was epic. Nate’s dad is beyond controlling. As much as I hate him, I have to say that a lot went into developing his character. To illicit strong emotions, means he was well written and a lot of effort went into creating his character. I can’t say I’m surprised, because I feel like all of the characters are the same way. My heart ached for Nate and Tyler. I was at the edge of my seat reading their story. It was not smooth sailing for them, but their connection was palpable. It leapt from the pages. I was rooting for them the entire time, too.
This story was well thought out and put together. The flow of the was incredibly easy to get lost in. Romeo Alexander is a very good storyteller. Once you pick up one of his books, you want them all. In fact, being a little weird, I’m listening to book two in between reading this book. It was actually kind of interesting in seeing different timelines. We do get to see Clay and Elliot back in action. I cannot wait for this one to come out in audiobook format. I absolutely recommend this book, this series, and this author. His books are perfect for any reading occasion, whether it’s stolen moments, or planned.

This one brings together Tyler, the skinny, impish, and now reformed teenage who first appeared in "Hit or Miss, to Kill or Kiss" (Book 2 of the series) with Nathaniel, who is a part of Port Dale's triumvirate of power families first introduced to us in "Drawing the Doctor" (Book 3).
Aside from an ongoing presence of Blair Atkins from the latter book, who seems to be the den mother of the gay men in that crowd, no one from that book appears in this one.
But, wow, Elliott and Clay from Book 2 are here in their continued glory, six years after we first met Tyler, who is now a tall blond bisexual hunk home from college for the summer--and home is Elliott and Clay's house.
Tyler was just dissed by the only real girlfriend he ever had back on campus. So he decides to take a chance by visiting the local gay club one night and is having a crummy time until he accidentally bumps into someone dumping his soft drink all over the guy who, of course, turns out to be Nathaniel.
We've been introduced to Nathaniel already and it is not pleasant. He was summoned home from college in the East by his deeply controlling and homophobic father and is only in the bar because of subterfuge by one of his supposed handlers.
When Nathaniel looks up into the face of the taller Tyler (perfect cover, BTW), both of them stare in shock: They were best friends-heading-to-boyfriends in high school until caught by one of Nathaniel's handlers. The result was his father shipping him East before he and Tyler could settle things.
Now, there's a chance to try to settle but these are a host of issues that both have to overcome. These include the intense scrutiny of Nathaniel's life by his father, and a budding kidnapping plot that brings into play the particularly effective, if somewhat violent and nasty, skills of Elliott and especially Clay.
What a ride this becomes--this is a terrifically exciting book with all sorts of wacky twists and turns but in the end a super excursion into the lives and loves of the men of Port Dale. Bravo!
Loved it! It was nice to see the kid that tried to rob Clay in " Hit or Miss, To Kill or Kiss" get his story. Tyler is all grown up now. WOW did he change. His story is all about giving love another try with his bestfriend/first boyfriend Nate. They were separated when they were kids due to Nate's awful father but due to a chance meeting years later they were able begin again. The author did an awesome job with this storyline. All these elements: the re-connection, the innocence, the action, the romance and most importantly love, made this book wonderful. It was nice to see Clay and Elliot featured also in this story. Clay is still cool and awesome...He had me in stitches a couple of times. I oh so enjoyed this book and if you read and addicted to the series "Heroes of Port Dale, you will enjoy this story too.

This is a great book! Nate and Tyler were best friends when they were younger, and almost more. But Nate was from the upper class and Tyler was from the wrong side of the tracks, so Nate's homophobic mayor father made sure they were split apart. They reconnect when Tyler returns to Port Dale for the summer and bumps into Nate, who is also home due to disappointing grades in college. It seems fate has given them a second chance. Unfortunately, Nate's father is still a controlling, homophobic A$$, and there are other dangers that will try them. Will they escape the danger? Will Nate take control of his own life back from his father? Will Nate and Tyler find a way to finally be together? You need to read this book to get the answers. The book has great character development, drama, danger, humor, and lots of love.

You turn your head for a few years, and your man explodes into his hotness! Tyler has a challenging history, and makes a bad choice until he meets Clay and life presents new options. Nathaniel is his best friend, his rock. They take a step in their relationship, Nate's father disagrees and suddenly and unexpectedly relocates Nate to a private school. Fast forward a few years, Tyler returns home on school break, devastated his girlfriend dumps him. He meets up with Nate who is struggling with daddy issues. Nate is amazed and enthralled with Tyler's physical change. They start on what turns into a dangerous getting to know you adventure. Can Nate stand up to his Daddy? Is Tyler making better decisions? Is this Nate and Tyler's time? Fantastic story! Nate and Tyler are absolutely likeable characters. Clay and Elliott are adorably funny. Well done! I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Totally hot cover art.
From school friends and best friends to a second chance at love.
Nate and Tyler came from different socioeconomic backgrounds - one from a family of means and the other from the wrong side of the tracks. Factor in a family member - a parent - who is homophobic and only worried about appearances. Driving a wedge between them caused a lot of damage.
A summer return trip to Port Dale reconnects Nate and Tyler. Unfortunately, it wasn't for leisure. Nate's grades were bad in college. It seems his father had a heavy hand in everything. Including choosing where he should be educated and the end result is grim.
Their chance meeting shows they are still in lust and love. Too bad Nate's dad still does not know he is gay and intent on seeing Tyler, again.
Unexpected trouble forces secrets to come to the surface. Can long term true love really conquer all?

I started reading Tyler and Nate's story but I enjoyed it so darn much more because I put the book down and went back and reread Hit or Miss, to Kill or Kiss which is Clay and Elliot's story. Tyler and Nate were friends back in high school but about the time they started showing an interest in each other Nate's dad yanked him out of the school system and sent him across country to a private school. Both of the guys come home for the summer for different reasons and they meet up again and just naturally get back to being friends. Then Nate's dad, which is a whole other piece of work, has extra security for the family among other things. Things start heating up pretty fast and for a bit they don't know which way to turn. You will not want to miss this beautiful story!

I really enjoyed this second chance romance between Tyler and Nate and was saddened by Nate's father's behaviour, what a horrible person he was, and the fact they didn't get a proper go at being together beforehand. I liked seeing that Elliot and Clay are still together from book #2. I really enjoyed their interactions, they added a lot of humour to the story. I loved the way they were with Tyler and liked that they could help Tyler and Nate when things got dangerous. The friendship and reconnection between Tyler and Nate were really sweet and I was hoping Nate would be able to break away from his father and make a go of things.

4.5☆ Nate grew up in a wealthy family with a nasty, controlling father who made him leave town and the best friend who was starting to become more. Tyler had a very poor upbringing but always knew his mother loved him. Both are home for the summer and get quite the shock when they bump into each other. They may have changed physically but the connection between them feels just as strong but spending time together proves difficult and there is an unexpected danger. This story is really entertaining with a mix of emotions, strong connections, a second chance, violence, interesting characters, laughs, steamy passion, love, and a satisfying HEA.

Nate is emotionally stunted hes let his father control everything in his life even taking away his one chance at happiness Tyler they were friends and sweetheart's in Highschool but Nate's dad would have freaked if he ever found out about them being together. Nates wealth should have given him everything but his fathers control has given him nothing but pain until a chance encounter with his past the boy from the wrong side of the tracks is grown man in the FBI the passion and regret are still there but so is the danger. I really love these books and how the author adds former characters so you get and update on how there lives and relationship are still going strong.
I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review.
Action, action, and more action! Granted, maybe not the kind of action that Tyler and Nate were hoping for, but this book sure kept you on the edge of your seat! But, don't worry... the boys eventually get around the kind of action that they were trying for! ;p
Even though Tyler is all grown up, it is still nice to know that Clay and Elliot have the boys covered!
Sidenote: I was glad to see that this author touched on a subject that isn't always properly covered. Abuse isn't always physical... emotional and verbal abuse are real and can be devastating. The fact that Nate's father is the abuser is perhaps the most devastating, but the reality is most abuse is perpetrated by a family member or "loved" one.
Now THIS is a second chance romance I can get behind. Nate and Tyler were split apart when they were still in high school by Nate's asshole father. That is reasonable. When you're seventeen, most of the time you are at the mercy of your parents. And Nate wasn't good about standing up for himself. He is good about standing up for Tyler though. And he and Tyler are great about having each others back - and Tyler gets to show him what it's like having people that actually care about you (because Clay and Elliot of Hit or Miss, to Kill or Kiss are back and being all surrogate family to Tyler).
I enjoyed. The relationship wasn't the drama and the ONLY tiny moment I had was QUICKLY replaced with more having each other's backs goodness.
When his plans fell through Tyler choose instead to return to his hometown for the summer. Nathaniel was so use to having his life run for him he was told when and where and it didn't matter if he liked it. His father was all about the family reputation and appearances because nothing else mattered to him. They'd been friends for what seemed like forever and maybe they could have been more but that didn't happen back then. However now they'll have to figure out just how far would they be willing to go?

What happens when your first love comes back to town and you see him again and all of the sparks start flying again???? That's exactly what happens in this story between Tyler and Nathaniel, except Nate is forced into the closet by his overbearing father, will their relationship fail before it begins? Suddenly men are trying to kidnap Nate and Tyler and his "adopted" brothers, Clay and Elliot (met and loved in Kiss or Kill) are the only ones who can keep him safe. You have to read this thrilling story to find out what happens.... Highly recommended!

I loved this second chance romance. Nate and Tyler make an awesome couple. Nate and Tyler dated in secret in high school until Nate’s father found out and shipped him away to a private school. Years later the two of them happen to meet unexpectedly. The lust and love are still there, but Nate is still afraid of his father finding out that he is gay and seeing Tyler again. The two of them are tossed into some danger, and now Nate faces off again with his father and the future he wants to have with Tyler.
Tyler got his heart broken by Nate years ago. He hasn't had many relationships since than. Life is going okay when he runs into his former friend again. They have a chance to see if a relationship could happen, except Nates dad is against it, strongly. Nate has to device if he wants to go against his father and follow his heart or obey his father and be absolutely miserable.
It's a slow burn with low angst, but some relatable situations. Romeo has do ne it again, writing a story that contains a plot and well placed steamy scenes.
