Pining for Davis

Rate this book
Amelia "Millie" Price knows she's the joke of the town and it's really starting to piss her off. No one in town, not even her best friend Chloe, takes her seriously. She knows she's more than earned the title, but she isn't the same person she used to be, and it's about time everyone knew it. First things first, it's time to be honest with Davis, the only guy she's ever been able to see herself with. She shored up the courage once before and tried telling him how she felt when they were in high school, only he thought she was joking. She hopes this time will be different, and he'll see her for who she really is, not how most people see her.

Davis Alvarez is the quiet gentle giant in his group of friends. He's a Deputy in the town Police Department and is often looked at as the nice guy. He's fine with being the nice guy, he just wishes Millie would go for a guy like him. Instead, he's left being her friend, wanting to make the girl who lights up their tiny town his.

When Davis finds out that Chloe is playing matchmaker for her best friend, he knows he better make his move quickly or risk losing Millie forever!

Davis and Millie are characters you met in Hungry For Wade. This is a short, sweet, happily ever after that is sure to keep you warm this December.

I was meh with this novella..

It was sorta unrequited love but wasn't because both wanted eachother just never told eachother. Well Millie did when she was in high school and Davis turned her down because he said (when they were older present time) he would hold her back from her dreams which she stayed in town.. 15 years both were pinning.. I was annoyed that Davis never had the balls to go after her until he overheard their friends wanting to set her up on a date.

No date and he finally tells Millie how he feels but shes annoyed that he never said anything she thought it was one sided all these years..

I hate this "i think I was never good enough for you" trope. Like HATE IT!! If her friend didn't say im set you up would Davis had made his move? Just waste of years honestly

No ow/om drama, no cheating, slight secondary character, sexy times, both virgins

Recommend- meh naw

Years of unrequited love

Davis and Amelia have had many years of miscommunication! Finally they get it together, but, it is a bit of a stumble. Short and sweet story full of steam. Great holiday story to get you in the Christmas spirit.

I really enjoyed this amazing sweet read. This book is the perfect fit for those moments when you dont have alot of time and want to read something that is amazing. It moves along at a great pace making for a great read. The characters are amazing and you will fall in love with them and the story will take you away for a few minutes during your busy day so that you can just relax and not worry about everything going on around you. This is a must read.

“I’m going to spend the rest of my life loving you"

I really enjoyed this short, lovely story. Both the H/h have cared for each other since they were kids but a misunderstanding and fear keeps them from acting on their feelings for 15 years. I absolutely loved the fact that they both remained true to their feelings and never was with anyone else romantically. Dual POV, dual virgins, no abuse, no OM/OW drama, epilogue 18 years later. 👏

This is a friend to lover book. Millie is the town jokester and Davis is the gentle giant and Millie friend. These 2 are in love with each other but don’t know about. Davis heard that Millie friend Chloe is setting her up on dates and he finally get off his butt to do something about it. This was a great fast pace book with all the sweet and hot part in it.

Talk about a miscommunication! Davis and Millie are destined to be together and finally get it right in a very sexy way. I think my favorite part of the whole story is actually the epilogue! I’m so happy that Chloe’s manager and Wade’s deputy got their story too!

So, the MCs were best friend since they were kids. When they're in senior year, the h decided to tell him how she felt, implicitly. The H brushed it off knowing for sure she was giving him her heart. Years went by, h's bff interfere and decided to shake things up. H got provoked and decided to claim h on caveman style.

The story was actually good. It's just the whole debacle of im-not-worthy-of-you was not getting it to me. I mean they basically danced around each other for years and the h deserved to move on and got herself someone who appreciated her; not someone who had no guts to step up and loved her for who she was. And the h was pining for forever despite that she was actually got rejected years ago. Come on girl, be brave!! I don't know. I do like unrequited love and all, but what I liked more was self-respect, self-love, and self-care. We need to love and respect ourselves first.

I liked Davis and Amelia. Friends to lovers that took way too long to admit their feelings. I kept wanting to hit Davis upside the head at his craziness.

Although the story is short we do have enough backstory and I loved the epilogue. I was laughing at Maddox’s cavemen ways and smiling that it was Chrissy he wanted.

I wish the first chapter would indicate how much later it is after the prologue as I was a little confused at first as to how much time had passed until something was said in passing.

Loved this quick read by Elisa. Amelia and Davis finally get their HEA, even though it took them years to finally come to their senses. After a misjudged confession and rejection, these two pine for each other for over 15 years. Faced with the possibility of having to watch Amelia being set up for a blind date finally gives Davis the push he needs to claim the woman who was always meant for him. After a rough start these two finally forgive and hold onto their HEA. Absolutely love the epilogue on this one, and hope that we get to see Maddox and Chrissy in the future.

Whyyy so many authors writing heroes like this?

Like, “I wasn’t good enough for you”. Omg, and he thought she should be his years after he turned her down??

Who does he think he is? Like you don’t think you are good enough for her, but you couldn’t bear she wanted moving on?

That’s…BULLSHIT OKK?🙄🙄🙄

You know what?

Screw those heroes, and let them have happy ever after with themselves.🌝

Pining for Davis was a cute read. I love Elisa Leigh's books, she always packs a lot of feels into her stories. We met Davis and Amelia in Wade's book. At the time, I thought 4 years was a long time to keep your feelings hidden. Then I started Pining and I gotta say, these two take being scared to reveal your feelings to a whole new level. We are talking more than a decade! Don't get me wrong, I totally get why Amelia didn't put herself out there after trying in high school. I wouldn't be eager to get my heart stomped on again. Davis should have gotten the courage up to say something sometime in the intervening years, especially after what she said in high school. Amelia is entirely too forgiving, he should had to do some groveling. All in all Pining for Davis was sweet, but a little more bittersweet than I expected.

First things first; I love the cover of this book!
Pining for Davis is a novella in the ‘’forever safe’’ series. This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. Amelia has had a crush on her best friends for years. When he didn’t take her love confession seriously during school, she gave up home. Davis loves Amelia but is he finally ready to get his girl?
The chemistry between Davis and Amelia is clear to see and I liked them together.
I really liked the ending and the epilogue for this story.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read.

Amelia and Davis have known each other since 4th grade and both have had feelings for each other just as long. Amelia finally told him how she felt but he felt he wasn’t good enough so changed the subject. Fast forward 15 years, they are still friends and they still love each other but both fear making a move. Davis misunderstands that she is being set up with a guy to help her to finally lose her V card and shows her she is his. I so loved this so much and couldn’t put it down until I read the last word!

2nd Chance romance with all the feels for your next weekend read. Amelia and Davis have been friends and neighbors since grade school. They have been circling each other but while Davis thinks Amelia has wings and will leave him behind. Amelia thinks he just doesn’t see her the way she sees him. I loved this story and the the back and forth of these two characters and the meddling friends that forced their hands. It is sweet, steamy and will make you so upset when it is over. Secretly hoping for a follow up with the kiddos but I am so happy to have read this for now.

I loved this short heartwarming romance and having read ‘Hungry For Wade’ was already familiar with the two main characters Davis and Millie. You can read this as a standalone story but I liked how these two got their own story having been mentioned in the previous book. Davis and Millie were lovely, likeable and relatable characters and I felt invested in their story and was cheering them on hoping they would get their own happily ever after. The couple have definite chemistry which comes across in the narrative and although a short story it has plenty to keep any reader happily turning the pages. A wonderfully written sweet romance which I found to be an enjoyable and engaging read.

Amelia and Davis have known each other since childhood and I did enjoy that the story showed that their love for each other did not waver one bit. I did tear up a little reading about them pining for the others love, and the struggles they went through until their early thirties. This was a safe, fast, roller coaster of emotions, but I was glad that I got to read this story. Double v, HEA epilogue, and a peak into some future characters.

A sweet friends to lovers romance. Davis wasn’t quite alpha enough for me letting his girl get away from him all those years and almost giving up when they had their fight after finally getting together but the sweet ending did make up for it. I really loved these characters. I wish we got a little longer epilogue with just them before the kids epilogue but still a nice sweet fast read.

Davis and Amelia both pined for each other in this Elisa Leigh book Pining for Davis. I’m surprised with how long these two took to get their feelings out in the open. They finally come clean to each other and move fast. I love devoted characters and adored the epilogue!

I felt so bad for Chloe when no one would take her seriously. Davis I wanted to smack in the beginning and I am glad he got his head together and went after what he wanted. Chloe had so much more to her than she let people see and I loved that about her. Great quick read with a HEA
