The concepts written about in this book are poorly documented and very old. The sources listed at the back of the book do not correlate with the information presented in the text. The information in Chapter 22 is clearly taken from the works of Myers/Briggs and D. Kiersey & M. Bates, but nowhere is it cited. This book is a poorly written list of dated information. Pick up a Social Psychology textbook for accurate well written information on this topic.
I knew all this already. Way better books out there on this subject. There was a whole chapter listing body parts and what they do. Wowwww bc I didn’t already know the nose is for breathing and can smell stuff.
It was written so badly, like the author didn’t speak english properly or something, also had some mistakes. I literally felt like i had to do extra work just to understand what the hell he was talking about, topics weren’t too bad but kinda superficial. Anyway it’s just a pain to read.
no actual advice. it shld be retitled "HOW TO BE A RED FLAG AND AN ABSOLUTE MENACE TO SOCIETY" follow this if you want everyone to hate your guts, including yourself.
2.5 stars. Most of the book felt like fortune cookie wisdom. Broad, general statements that are mostly common sense. I found it particularly distracting that this book was riddled with typos and grammatical errors. What’s the deal with that? Did this book go through an editorial process before publishing? Did anybody proofread this? The best part of this book, in my opinion, was the bonus material at the end.
A really interesting read giving plenty of information regarding human behaviours and character traits. Quite fascinating and provides plenty of scope for further reading. The one criticism would be the many textual errors throughout the book. In didn't spoil my enjoyment of the reading of the subject but it did get pretty annoying at times. But for that it would have been a four star book. The proof reading etc hadn't been well done. That aside, a very worthwhile read for anyone wanting to understand more about the subject.
Dark Psychology and Manipulation by William Cooper was recommended to me as a superior alternative to The 48 Laws of Power. Unfortunately, this recommendation turned out to be misleading. To say the book was a disappointment is an understatement.
From the very beginning, it was clear that the structure could have been much better. The book’s organization is haphazard, with ideas and concepts jumbled together without a coherent flow. Even more frustrating is the fact that the sentence structure is at a primary school level. The simplistic and often awkward phrasing detracts from any meaningful exploration of the topic.
The content itself is repetitive, with the same points being made over and over again without offering any new insights or perspectives. This redundancy made the reading experience even more tedious. I completed the book only for the sake of completeness, but it was a struggle to get through.
In summary, this book is not worth your time. If you are looking for in-depth and well-articulated analysis on the subjects of dark psychology or manipulation, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. The 48 Laws of Power remains a much better choice. Save yourself the frustration I experienced and avoid this one.
Dark Psychology and Manipulation by William Cooper offers an intriguing look into the covert techniques that can be used to analyze, influence, and control people. This book explores the concerning issue of psychological manipulation, providing readers with an understanding of how the mind can be exploited through various tactics.
The book discusses 40 different manipulation techniques in depth, explaining how they work and the kind of effects they can have. From neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) to subliminal influence, hypnotism, deception, and more - the range of covered topics is quite extensive. The writing style makes complex concepts understandable.
Cooper examines the fundamentals of human psychology that make these manipulation strategies effective. He takes you through factors like cognitive biases, personality traits, emotions, and mental triggers that are often preyed upon by those seeking control and power. This helps shed light on why we are susceptible to certain influences.
While the knowledge shared could certainly be used nefariously, the author focuses on revealing the playbook as a way to inoculate people against harmful manipulation. By understanding the strategies and vulnerabilities, readers can protect themselves and avoid being victimized. The book empowers readers with knowledge rather than encouraging unethical actions.
Overall, this is an informative read that delivers on teaching readers about the important topic of dark psychology and manipulation. The coverage of analysis techniques and influence strategies is comprehensive yet approachable. Anyone fascinated by human behavior and the psychology of control would find this book valuable.
I always find this subject so interesting and always try to read every book I can on this subject. I found this book to be really super interesting and intriguing at the same time.
I am not sure if Mr cooper’s first language is English, so I am not going to lay into him, but the editor (ghost writer?) May have been better chosen by the publisher. There are tons of typos and syntax snafus within. Better going with next edition!
The book is packed with information, so much so that it could easily be split into several smaller books. While some of the techniques are actually practical and usable, getting through the whole thing feels like a mental workout. It’s incredibly dense, and the constant use of jargon and technical terms makes it exhausting at times.
To be fair, there are some valuable parts. Chapters 14 and 15 are particularly important—they dive into mind control, and I found those chapters especially eye-opening. Later in the book, chapters 19 to 21 do a solid job of laying the groundwork for understanding body language, and they’re worth revisiting as a reference.
That said, the book can be boring. It’s not an easy or light read by any means. I ended up reading three other books while making my way through it—one of them being Crime and Punishment, which says something.
If you're deeply interested in dark psychology and don’t mind technical language, you might find it useful. But if you're looking for something more engaging or easy to digest, this probably isn’t it.
Hello! I'm sure the book's title caught your attention, just like it did for me. This book is only an introduction to the world of manipulation and dark psychology.
The author provides you with a wide range of knowledge and strategies, covering basic and advanced dark psychology techniques, traits of manipulative people, mind control, brainwashing, NLP for influence, analyzing people, body language, personality types, detecting deception, and persuasion in relationships and intimacy. It's a fascinating exploration.
After reading this book, you'll be able to look back at your past experiences and recognize instances where you were easily manipulated. You won't remain as naive as you once were, and you'll wish you had read this book earlier.
One small drawback is that some readers found the book a bit repetitive, which could be slightly annoying as you progress.
I'm eager to hear your thoughts on this book. Please share your impressions!
- "Pathological liars are those who compulsively lie all the time, even if there is no need to."
- "Decision-making is primarily based on emotions rather than logic."
- "If you are empathic and looking to foster people's feelings, you are actually empowering them to build themselves up. When this occurs, it’s hard to control and manipulate them. The end result is someone who has a strong sense of being and togetherness."
- "Fear is much more effective than praise as fear play with instinctive reactions in humans."
- "Fear is one of the primal instincts that humans cannot easily discard."
- "Joy does not have to be a fleeting emotion."
- "Find the motivation to turn yourself into the person that you want to be."
- "Fear has the ability to consume us, which is why these feelings should be taken care of before they spiral out of control."
This is not a good book, not only is it full of grammatical and ortographic errors, it seems like nobody proof read it! Most of the good part of the book is just a collection of definitions with no clear examples cited, when examples are cited they are usually too brief to even grasp the concept. A lot of unnecessary anatomy and physiology stuff also. To top it all off, near the fourth quarter of the book I guess the author runs out of bullets and the book's focus changes to more of a self-help book than anything else, not really dealing with the original subject at all. I can't wait till I finish it, and that's only because I have promised myself to finish all of my books even if I don't like them. But if you are interested in this book's intended topic you'd be better off looking for something else.

"Dark Psychology and Manipulation" explores how manipulation tactics, emotional influence, deception, and mind control are used in everyday life. It aims to make readers aware of psychological techniques that can subtly control their behavior, whether in personal relationships or professional settings. While it offers practical insights, some reviews suggest it may only be useful for beginners in psychology, lacking depth for those seeking advanced knowledge. Additionally, some readers felt the content was overpriced for what it delivers. If you're new to the topic, it could serve as a useful introduction
This book has some good information in it, but it is presented in the most stale and boring way possible. The author drones on and on, rarely interjecting with real world examples, and when they do, they cut off awkwardly. The book had numerous grammatical errors and sentence fragments, and other mistakes.
I read a lot of nonfiction, and this is the first I’ve found boring. There are a ton of great authors out there who present information in an engaging manner. I am sure there are better books out there on the same topic. I would skip this one.
[English] It's a good read, But it's too superficial to satisfy you in dark psychology. Obviously you can't understand human nature with a book or two. Though reading other titles beside this one will be helpful.
This is a really good book for learning about how to influence and manipulate people in a way that they don't realize it, as it can help understand how human psychology work, how to control someone's mind, how to read body language, and how to manipulate people. It also gives ways to identify a manipulatar, how to protect yourself from them, and what we do in order not to fall in their traps.
Definitely a good book, especially if you want to learn about how to identify if you are being manipulated. It’s a little boring in the beginning but once you get half way through the book it gets more interesting. I recommend this for anyone who is easily influenced by others. This way they have a way to spot other’s intentions easier.
Everyone should read this book understand and no one they’re being taken advantage of, the book is very informative, and teaches you how to avoid falling into a manipulated tracks. Or being the manipulator it’s up to you would not condone it though!
