Autumn 1588

The Invincible Armada is defeated and England rejoices. Their Queen, Elizabeth Tudor, stands before them as a shining icon of immortality, strength and wealth... yet she is a lie.

Broken after the death of her love, Robin Dudley, struggling with war, debt and personal loss, Elizabeth holds the mask of the Queen to her face as inside she is fractured. Turning to the youthful, reckless Earl of Essex, Elizabeth seeks solace, yet from man may monster be made.

As Elizabeth struggles to maintain her power, her favourite rises, surpassing her own popularity with the people of England, and Elizabeth begins to fear Essex may no more wish to serve his Queen, but to supplant her.

I am an independently published author, and proud to be so. Living in a little cottage in Wales in the UK, I love where I live as much as I love to write.

The age of the Tudors has been an obsession for me since I was a child, and many of my upcoming books will center on that time, but I also pen the odd dystopian fiction or historical fiction from other time periods. I will be releasing all my titles on amazon, for kindle and then hopefully for print later.

I studied Literature (with a capital L) at University and usually have twenty or more books I'm currently reading. Reading and writing are about mood for me, and I haven't found a genre I didn't enjoy something about so far...

You can often find me on Wattpad or Twitter when I'm not writing...

Enjoyable

This, the 9th book in the series is good, but not as interesting as the others, possibly because it dwells so much on death. While I believe Elizabeth did think much on it and the passing of her many friends, I felt this novel spent far too much time on death. It became daily minutiae page by page when I was far more interested in the lives of those who'd passed. In other words, more on their ends than their effect on Elizabeth's meanderings of them. But, I still give it four stars, for continuity.

Elizabeth R

Old Foxes book nine saw off yet more of Elizabeth's friends and foes, few now are left to accompany her into book ten. It is with some regret that I shall soon start the tenth and final book of this magnificent series. I have enjoyed every page, learned a lot and dearly loved many of the characters especially our gracious queen.

I'm hooked on the series

There are times when things become redundant. Something that happened in1 chapter is explained in great detail in the next, even though it was well explained the first time. It felt like the author was trying to fill a word quota. Otherwise, loved it.

Intimate aging

Anyone can understand the woman who was Elizabeth. She was ahead of her time or maybe just in time to light the way for others. 30 years before her reign would have been as science fiction is now!
