Kit is a little damaged. Matthew is a lot crazy. Together, they’re an explosion waiting to happen.
What would you do if your biggest celebrity crush walked into your life? Matthew has been living this hypothetical question for the past year. There’s no other man on the planet that has been a bigger part of Matthew’s alone time than Kit Youngblood. Kit is an actor and has posed nude for several adult magazines. Matthew would kill to have one night with Kit. Unfortunately, Kit is nowhere near as easy to catch as Matthew hopes.
Kit doesn’t want anyone. It isn’t personal. Kit came from a nightmarish background to carve a place for himself in the world. That doesn’t mean he’s well adjusted. He’s merely surviving the best he can. Matthew is the only person who’s made Kit consider taking a chance on a relationship. He just needs a little push to get him moving. Two men with a boatload of issues and secrets will face off in a battle of the hearts. Only time will tell which of their pasts will break them first. Or just maybe they’re exactly what the other needs.

This is a dark one, it has all the triggers. But the love and forgiveness it evokes are worth sticking with it.
💥Chapter one was inspired 😅😎
See, the thing with short stories is you lay down a great idea, expand a little and then resolve it while peppering it with drama and a love story. All in short bursts.
There was so much depth by the trauma involved that this could easily have been a full novel or a movie even. With the twists you never saw coming it could even have been a miniseries.
And yet here we are, a short story that covers everything. It leaves all the rest to the imagination to fill in and expand on.
Matthew is obsessed with Kit, after all, Kit saved him from suicide, but Kit doesn't know that. Both men have huge issues and PTSD from tumultuous childhood trauma. Kit is a model/actor, lives with Frost and Zep, and is a loner. He hates to be touched and reads his books to take him to happy places. He eats lunch with Matthew, plus attends Mathew's Yoga classes. Matthew, beautiful tattoos from neck to toes that hide his scars, is pierced, hazel eyed and sleek, is a yoga instructor at the gym, and a crazy, lively fellow. He's waiting for a chance with Kit.
When his chance comes, he's blind-sided. Kit says they are already exclusive after a year of lunches, and Kit's tired of waiting. Wow ! They talk, kiss, and finally get to know more about one another, and each man's story is sad. Kit tells his tale, and Matthew thinks he was being sassy, but no, it was the truth. Matthew still holds his big truth inside for now. The two need to get real and be open, because they do love each other deeply.
There are some fun scenes with the homophobic HOA president, Cindy, and heartwarming times with Frost and Zep's twins.
The story has lots of angst and deep secrets, but no explicit details are told about the child abuse. The book is light considering the darkness, but we are glad to see them find each other, and some peace. Kit and Matthew deserve their sexy times of ecstasy, deep love, and a sweet life they've found. ENJOY !
I adore these quick reads from Charity Parkerson. They have everything you want from a full length novel neatly captured in a novella. This one is one of my series favourites because I love angst and drama. Definitely read it.... in fact, read the whole series if you haven't already! They're all well worth it.
Incredible!!! This book brought tears to my eyes several times. An incredible storyline with twists I didn’t expect. These characters made me feel the love and compassion they had for each other.
A year ago Mathews's celebrity crush actor Kit Youngblood walked into his life. Matthew would kill to have a night with him, but Kit is not that easy to catch. Kit doesn't want anyone because he came from a nightmarish background and so is surviving as well as he can right now. Matthew is the only person who has made Kit consider taking a chance on a relationship he just needs a little push. Two men with a boatload of issues and secrets will face off in a battle of the hearts. Only time will tell which of their pasts will break them first. Or just maybe they’re exactly what the other needs.
I really loved this story as it had a huge focus on emotions, thoughts and how you coped with it going forward. Then there was the focus on mental health and how you straighten yourself out when you are having a crisis. I was proud of both of these men for the things they had endured in their childhood and the way that they coped with it. I was thrilled when they were able to get married and then when they had sorted out all the major problems. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MM story with mature content and mention of historic child abuse and mental health crises.
So this one has stalker vibes. Matt knows Kit and his secrets before he tells him. He also moves cameras so he could sneak into his balcony. And he changes his life after seeing a pic of Kit. I mean- it's a lot. Kit is also demisexual. Zander is alluded to as well from Sugar Boss. Overall this book is fascinating and somewhat dark. Kit has always been an awesome side character so I was thrilled to seem him find his person.

S. I wish the book focused more on how possessive Matthew was of Kit. That was my favorite part, but the book really didn’t go into detail about it. I was surprised af about Matthew being the grandson and long-time victim of the man that sexually abused Kit. It made Matthew “brushing it off” at the beginning make sense. Kit was very needy and the fact that he longed for Matthew to mean what he says with all his stalking and where you go I’ll follow, is something I like

I have enjoyed this series a lot. This book features two men with tragic pasts who make themselves think they have nothing to offer the world until they come together. Their flaws and illnesses just make them real.
I've read eleven books in this series, and I enjoyed each one of them. Such beautiful stories, from tragedy to loneliness, they all ended was a HEA. I'm on to my next book in the series, keep them coming.
Kit and Matthew share more than just love but a whole life story. I loved seeing these two come together and be the amazing yoga power couple they were destined to be.
Love. I love this book. As a survivor of SA reading about survivors of trafficking, you would think I'd be triggered. But no, this beautiful story of two souls making their way through life and finding each other to help made my heart sing!
