I liked it in spite of myself! I had copped a bad attitude, and I was taking it out on the book. However, the more I read, the lighter my load became. At times, I even felt like I was one of the fairy rope dancers. And I was 22 years separated from my own divorce.
I became a great friend to my ex, but that is a different story. The fairies are real. Magic does exist, even if it is only in my heart. A very nice read. I would be a great friend of the author, Marci Darling. You go girl!
I am only halfway through, but this book is everything I need right now— it’s funny and self empowering and every story is so relatable. I have found myself reacting with a gamut of emotion—guttural belly laughs and sobbing and then feeling hopeful/grateful. As someone navigating the lonely/difficult process of separation/divorce, reading this book feels like getting a hug from an old friend.
Really loved this book - the author is relentlessly resilient- there is as much depth to this personal story of divorce and carrying on as a single mother as there is humor - I highly recommend
Marci Darling's Divorce Diva was a pleasant read on a hot summer afternoon. While the pain of divorce is clearly not completely gone, I found Marci's honesty refreshing. Grief and loss happens to us all and her key message of getting open and staying open for those little miracles in life (rainbows, unicorns and people who "get you"...) rang true for me. While we can't control others, but I agree that we can "stay in our lane" and make things happen for the better even if it's a work in progress. Good things do happen for those who are persistent and are open to the glass being half full no matter what's in it.
What a great fun read!!! I can’t wait to read more by this author. Thank you Goodreads for this free read I am grateful for allowing me to find a new fun author to read!
