i just like… don’t care about them as a couple. i wanted to like this especially because i think the cover is so cute but i wasn’t really convinced of their romance and i feel like the hero of this story was just so whiny.

I was waiting to see worse reviews..
I want to give this a 2 star but I couldnt even finish it so ill go average 3 to be slightlt fair.
People are saying the leads are great but they really arent.
Clark (Female Lead) is just another stubborn black woman with a sister with bad baby daddy issues. And Mave (Male Lead) is just a weak rich guy who only takes the job because his grandmother says he'll lose all his money.
Righr away we learn why Mave hates Christmas and im definitely not calling him weak for that reason. Id be a mess too. However at the first instance in which Christmas and the cookies and the decorations becomes a problem, instead od just telling Clark why he doesnt like it, he goes the Im going to Keep It a Secret To Cause Problems route. I hate manufactured drama. This way leads Clark to seem even more petty and stubborn where she admits to herself that she seems him hurting and hiding something but when Mave tells he he doesnt want to talk about it, she doesnt drop the subject or simply accept that hes not ready to talk about it. She just keep pushing. If Mave had just told her why, both of them being adults, im sure something like "Oh my gosh Mave thats terrible I completely understand why you feel so strongly against Christmas" and that would be that.
There is nothing about the shop beinf Christmas that affects Clark negatively. She wants to open her own bakery but theres nothinf about her being in love with Christmas 24/7 and wanting an only Christmas themed bakery introduced. So there should be no reason why she cares at all about Mave disliking it, other than to create conflict between the two.
Its a no for me. Glad it was rented on KU. Not a buy for sure, id be so bored.

cute and hallmark-y as advertised, but has unresolved drama for the sake of drama
Such a cute Christmas themed story. I loved Moe and Tan’s adorable-ness and the slow build of Clark and Mave’s feelings for each other. The only downside is I feel like the pacing was off on some of the b-plots because they were left hanging and unresolved until the epilogue and we’re just told through exposition what happened instead of shown, like the result of the embezzling investigation. Like the story ran out of time and the plots were just thrown together at the epilogue. Epilogues are supposed to be that extra fluff at the end, not holding resolution to major story points. And there were things that were just never addressed again not even in the epilogue, like the coworker that started hating on Clark, and the money Mave gave Lavonte at Max’s request, that Clark never found out about. All the fighting and defending Max did for Lavonte, introspecting by Clark on why she does, and we never even get to see her finally accept that he’s never going to change and she deserves better and that Clark was right, or apologizing for overstepping boundaries to ask for money from Mave behind Clark’s back. Without addressing any of this, it feels like pointless drama for the sake of drama instead of meaningful conflict for the story and character growth.

Loving Clark and Mave
I really liked Mave and Clark's story. It was good that the Make it Marriage crew were not heavily involved, but just Kayla and Brendon. I liked how Kayla and Brandon were there for Mave as a family. I loved how Clark and Mave's relationship developed and how he realized his love for Clark and didn't fight it but treasured it. Mave was a good man who was mourning so many losses and I loved Kayla for staying with him even after finding out the truth about who he was. I didn't like Max asking Mave for money for Lavonte because I thought that was so tacky, but there's the difference between Clark and Maxine. Which means I don't want a Maxine storyline. I don't like the message Maxine is sending to her daughters especially with everything young black girls have to go through as far as loving themselves and knowing their worth. I would love to see how Clark and Mave are doing with their own children.

Another Great Read
Mia has done it again. I really enjoyed reading about Mave and Clark. Have is usually this playboy who loved to party. Raised by his grandmother after the passing of his parents. He was extremely close to his mom before that and loved being with her and being taught how to make her famous cookies. And that same bakery is what his grandmother want him to help out with and eventually take over something he really didn't want any part of. And that's where he meets Clark and from the start she see him as a jerk and can't stand him. No one has any idea who he really is besides being the bakery new Manager! Regardless of what they may or may not feel about each other they can't ignore what might be happening between them. It was nice to see his cousin Brendan and his wife Kayla in the story too. There were some drama and some shocking things that happened that didn't see coming but got past. I really enjoyed this story looking forward to the next!

Nia Arthurs latest installment to the Make it Marriage series had a different kind of twist to it. The main characters Bear and Cynthia West were amazing. Cynthia had amnesia and she didn't remember Bear and it was so heart breaking because she couldn't remember her husband. Bear loved Cynthia with his every being and he would go to the ends of the earth for her. When the secret is revealed it brought tears to my eyes. it was a great joy to see some of the characters from the series. if you want a tear jerker or you want to be kept on the edge of your seat then this book is for you. I really love the Make it Marriage series. this story was a slow burn at first but once you get more into the story you will understand why Bear can't give up on him and Cynthia marriage. Amazing job Nia.

Hallmark Christmas Movie of the Week!
I love books by Now Arthurs, but this has been the most sweet, uplifting book that I have had the pleasure of reading so far! Billionaire Maverick DeMarco was snatched away from his Christmas getaway in Belize by his CEO grandmother, tasked to save a drowning bakery - in four weeks, no less - in order to gain the trust and respect of the company's board of directors, thus keeping his inheritance intact. Clark was biding her time before she realized her dream of opening her own bakery. When these two met, it was like oil and water. Of course, love was soon to follow!

I really didn't like Clark she was hard on everyone but herself, Maxine was slow to realize her deadbeat boyfriend was that. In the end they worked it out.

liked the heroine way more than the hero but he was making overdramatic declarations left and right way too soon. and he needed to learn boundaries.
also of course she didnt like levonte bum ass he was a deadbeat dad! maxine so dumb. poor kids. and the book just kinda ended without dealing with that storyline so maybe she'll get her own book later.
overall a very fake dramatic story that told of emotions that didnt ring true for the characters actual relationship

Love comes when you need it most!
Beautiful story! Everyone's family and life is unique. No one knows why people do what they do or feel the say they feel until you are honored that privilege. Not everyone can handle your story or understand it. Clark and Mave (Maverick) were made for each other, and I'm glad that they figured that out. What's for you will only be for you! Don't give up on love!

Great book!
I really enjoyed Clark and Mave's story! Their chemistry was smoking hot! Clark was very independent and she could see that Levonte was just a user and a bum. Max wanted to believe in Levonte but she was just wasting her time. Mave had a lot of growing up to do. Loved the journey Ms Arthurs took you own. I highly recommend it you will not be disappointed!

Delightful Interracial Romance
If you crave BWWM romance, Ms Arthurs is your writer. This book is definitely proof. Her characters are charming and fun. Especially the main female lead. Clark is sassy and strong, as well as vulnerable and sensitive. The humor is delicious and the feels are sweet. I highly recommend this book.

Mave and Clark
I am a big fan of interracial couples and the authors who make it happen. This has been of the best of Nia's that really touched me. Nia brings out the feelings, the love, honesty and all the things that keeps a relationship grounded.
Her characters are embracing, intriguing and loving. This one brought me to tears but had me in stitches as well ❤️

I love the story about two persons from different life styles can fall in love. It is a book I would recommend to women who barricade them selves in because of the failed relationships around them. Not with a man named Maverick! He really did treat Clark and her family good he even gave money to a low life like Levonte! I would like to see more of them in the future and it's always nice reading about Kayla and Brendon!

What a really sweet read. Almost Hallmark like. Didn't even miss the sexual scenes and if it did, it would have been awkward reading it in this book honestly.

I enjoyed this Christmas story, but I am a person who pays attention to the details. 1. Clark was a baker but her long weave was always down in the kitchen until the one time Mav put it up for her (unprofessional), 2. When Mav asked if he could help, the first words should have been: wash your hands, but it wasn't and put him to work. I still enjoyed their story.
