Combining Eastern spiritualism with Western science, the founder of the national charity God's Love We Deliver creates an inspiring, practical, and hopeful approach to facing death. Uplifting without being sentimental, Stone explores such important issues as fear and grief, near-death experiences, survival, and preparation for death.
I read this book many years ago, back in the 1990s, so I don't remember many details but it stayed with me and was unlike anything else I've ever read on the subject. This is a book by a woman who lost her brother, if I remember correctly, but learned through him to view death differently from how most of the Western world views it. The one thing I remember vividly is that someone - I think it was actually her brother - was enlightened about death and said that if we really understood it, we would not grieve or fear/dread death. It's been my lifelong goal to reach this understanding. My husband had it and was at peace in his final days. I wish I had been but I continue to work toward it. The wonderful thing about this book is that it's not a dry, philosophical treatise on death but an up close and personal journey that I think anyone could relate to. Very powerful and I would recommend to anyone.
