Excellent material is present in this book. However, there are some issues which the reader will have to overlook as they are digging into the core substance.

The authors have gathered essential data on what is necessary to "live off the grid." In the book, this term is not limited to electrical power. It is a catch-all phrase that includes shelter, water, energy, heat, etc., as noted in the subtitle. Each of these issues is dealt with independently and then discussed as they relate to and affect each other. Although I don't live off the grid, the material presented seems like a substantive primer that will get the reader started should this be their goal.

As mentioned, some factors need to be overlooked. The use of a good editor would have significantly improved the book. The script could (and should) have been tightened to help the reader. Repetition was rampant. As were some inconsistencies in the material presented.

But, despite, these issues the book is well worth reading. If living off the grid is a dream of yours, this book will help you start. It will help you craft a plan and then implement it. The time, money, and energy saved will more than compensate you for the book's cost and the time spent reading it.

Upon request, the publisher sent me a copy of the book to review.

Title seemed a bit misleading for me. It wasn’t so much of how to do laundry by hand or learning how to make your own fertilizer, it was more how to plan for building a house that can use alternative water and energy sources in order to fight climate change.
