Now this is a guidebook. This and the proceeding Dark Hunters guide are the definitive Bionicle books to me because they combine the world with the creativity of the fans. The models featured here are wonderful and are a good showcase of the simplistic but effective building techniques of the time. The framing of the text as a fieldguide is also special as no creature is without a context. The commentary is what makes this gel. A must read.
My son checked this out from his school library...I only read him the descriptions of the "cool" beasts but the text is pretty heavy so that was more than enough. I try to keep up with all of my son's phases but this one is beyond me lol. I can say that the world of Bionicle is a nice way to expand a child's vocabulary...it could probably expand the vocabulary of most adults.
Illustrations are photographs of the Lego Bionicle beasts. Very cool if you are young boy.
Ah, the nostalgia of adding these books from my childhood to my goodreads collection. This was one of my favorite Bionicle books. I loved looking through the pictures and reading the descriptions. Looking back, I'm impressed with how much backstory there is to everything.
This is my son's book but it was lying around and I picked it up and started reading it after dinner one night. If this book is anything to go by then Lego has certainly put some thought into the creaton of the Bionicle universe. The subject of this book is the various wild creatures one can find in the world of Bionicle. The creatures contained in this volume show what one can imagine when one puts their mind to it . I was actually impressed at times by some of these creatures. If you have a child who loves Lego in general and Bionicle in particular this is a great book for them. Since the creatures are constructed with normal Lego pieces it seems your child is likely to get some great ideas as to what is possible when some thought is given to your creations. All in all a very nice book.
