I knew that a scholarship to Hawthorn Academy would change my life.
It would get me away from a Mother who didn’t love me, an alcoholic Step-Father I despised, and a life filled with no meaning. At the Academy, I could make something of myself. Become the person I’ve always wanted to be; the person I was destined to be.
But I could never have imagined that things could be worse there. That The Sect and The Set ruled the school.
Literally. They had a list of five rules that all must obey or face the dire consequences.
Then there’s Him. He is the forbidden fruit. The Beast I’m warned away from. The boy I feel a connection to, yet knew that I shouldn’t.
Hawthorn Academy isn’t anything like I expected. It's clear that I’m in danger. That somebody is out to harm me.
I just needed to survive the next two years there. How hard could that be?
Disorder is book one in the Hawthorn Academy Series. It is a dark high school bully new adult romance and contains themes that some readers might find uncomfortable. This book is part of a trilogy and is NOT a standalone.
Sky just wants to be loved. Wants to be cherished. Belong to someone. She grew up in a house where love was scarce and hope was never an option. After receiving her acceptance for Hawthorn Academy, she feels like her luck just might be turning around.
Her first day there she meets a girl named Clover. They are quite alike. She shows her around the academy and makes sure to point out when they are near the pool house to stay clear of 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐭 and 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭. A group of girls and 3 beyond gorgeous guys - Ollie, Leo and Griff. They are wealthy and rule the school. Nothing happens without their approval. There are beyond crazy rules, like not to look or speak to them without proper permission.
Unfortunately, Sky has caught the attention of them all, but she is now on Ollie's radar. The girls try to make her life miserable - both with words and fists. They were so horrible to her.
Through all this she has Griff to make her smile, Clover to confide in and Ollie to lean on. She finally has friends and maybe even a boyfriend. It's all so new to her since she's always been a loner. Clover continues to remind her to not let the boys into her life and heart. To still be on guard. When the two guys treat her like she matters, she just can't believe they would be out to hurt her.
After all the vile and hurtful things that the girls have done to her, Ollie has always been there to hold her and pick up the pieces. How can he behind any of it? He vows to get them to stop. But, is it all as it seems? Are they really her friends? Do they have her best interest at heart? What more can happen to her, to bring her to her knees and shatter her heart.
Oh yeah.... THAT!! OMG!! The ending was shocking. Didn't see any of it coming.
Disorder, debut novel by Katie Lowrie, is book one of the Hawthorn Academy series. My initial reaction was disbelief at THAT ENDING! The cliffhanger at the end of this book had me screaming! I have so many questions and it feels like this is just the beginning.
Disorder is set in England and follows Skylar Crescent who has been granted a scholarship to attend the ultra-private, elusive, mysterious elite Hawthorn Academy for the last 2 years of schooling prior to University. As soon as Sky arrives on campus, she crosses paths with The Sect and The Set, two groups of wealthy boys and girls that rule the school. Students at Hawthorn have to obey the five rules set by these groups or face the consequences. Sky is socially awkward, she’s never had friends or a boyfriend so when the opportunity to make friends arrives she jumps at it. She becomes best friends with the other scholarship student, becomes friends with the boys that rule the school (Leo, Ollie, and Griff), and eventually starts dating Ollie. Sky gets bullied by her peers at the school. She gets drugged, drowned, and humiliated, but still attempts to get through the school year without losing her scholarship. Secrets are revealed, masks unleashed, mysteries unraveled, and betrayal galore. This is Hawthorn where…
Audentes fortuna iuvat. Dulce periculum.
Fortune favours the bold. Danger is sweet.
My thoughts on this book. Right from the start we see Sky as a realistic and relatable character dealing with family issues, anxiety and horrible panic attacks. Sky wants to leave the shadow of her social class and make something of herself. Sky’s inner monologue is hilarious, and I loved her character. In fact, I loved and hated that I loved all the characters in this book in some way or form. There was so much happening in this book and I was living for it. I really wanted to know the secrets that the students at this school held and I could not put the book down. This book had so many twists that had me questioning what I did and did not know.
Disorder is a fantastic dark high school bully romance and I can’t wait for the second book in the series. I HIGHLY recommend this debut novel!
This is a great debute by Katie and she has really created something different to all the other high school bully books that are already out there.
First, its set in England.
Second, it has a realistic and relatable heroine.
Thirdly, there is so much mystery that you just cannot put your finger on what the hell is happening.
From start to finish there is so many suspicious things happening and as a reader you're constantly questioning what the hell is going on in this school. Why is it so private? What is everyone hiding? Why are the boys so hot?
Sky is mysteriously selected to go to Hawthorns Academy, even though she never applied for the prestigious limited scholarship and cannot understand why she was even selected. But Sky doesn't refuse because at the end of the day its got to be ten times better than her home life at the minute. Then she meets Ollie, Griff and Leo. The Kings of the school and as much as her new best friend Chlo tries to warn her, Sky just falls hook, line and sinker.
Katie has written some great characters and I loved Chlo from the start. I don't know why but I always thought she had Sky's best interests even when she was coming across as a b*tch. Then there are the obvious mean girls but these girls have a different dynamic and the strange happenings in the school don't miss them out either. This book literally had me guessing at every page.
The only reason I didn't rate this 5 stars is because of the age of the characters. I would have liked them to be a bit older for all the situations that were occurring, so that I could gravitate to them more but I also know this then wouldn't fall into the high school bully genre. Highly recommend this book!!!
I have been super excited to read this. It’s my first ever arc.. I know look who’s growing up.. but it’s also written by my incredible friend Katie so the wait for this book has been a long but exciting one!
Firstly I loved the British terms and references in this especially ‘I shit you not’, ‘bricking it’ and ‘I look ite’ hahaha these are things I say regularly and it’s so refreshing to read it in a book!
Let me tell you the SUSPENSE in this book from Chapter 2 is almost too much to handle. Hopefully that gives you an idea on how tense the other 32 chapters are! It was so intensely gripping and I was sucked straight in to the gossip and drama of Hawthorn Academy. Legiterally 😉
Sky is so relatable and I loved how she didn’t come across as the ‘I’m too good for everyone’ attitude and actually showed the effects of the extreme situations she experienced at school. It wasn’t just a brush off the shoulder and it was realistic. I loved Griff. (I think I still do 👀😂) His banter is an A+ from me and I legiterally (Katie I’m using this as a real word from now on 😂) would love to have a friend like him. Leo is super suspicious which we love to see. Clo was soooo hard for me to get on with at first because I just wanted her to stfu so many times but dayum.. I’m sorry now 🙈😂
And I can’t talk about Ollie. I just can’t. The beautiful sex god, angry maniac that he is. I just can’t. IKYKWIM - mate these references are smashing (if you know you know 😂)
Katie you have given me TRUST ISSUES. I have NEVER read a book when I literally didn’t trust anyone. Honestly it’s fucked with my heart and my brain a little bit. That ending is just Not okay! Hahahaha.
A lot of books can have a rather predictable plot twist or ending. NOT THIS ONE. I really thought I knew where it was heading and I really hoped I was right and then BAM nope not today we just gunna throw a blindfold on and stab you in the back a few times!! It has left me ✨shooketh✨ and I applaud you Katie. A quote that unnerves me - ‘After all, things could always get worse’ - I don’t bloody doubt they can 😩😩🙈🙈
There was also the right amount of steamy steam in here too my loves, we love to see it 🥵
It has been an honour reading this arc and I am so so proud of you for publishing your first book. Reading the acknowledgments and seeing my name there honestly brought me to tears. I am so appreciative of you. You’re inspiring. You melt me. You deserve all the fame and fortune coming your way and I can’t wait to be here to see you through it all! Without a doubt 5 stars from me!!! ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ and I cannot wait for Disease in May.. I need to noooooow!!!👏👏👏
A story full of angst, drama, mystery, secrets and betrayal that will leave you shook!
This book had me at prologue, after that I was already a goner. I was so absorbed in this story from there and onward. I absolutely love all the characters and the mysterious plot. And I simply adored that angst and drama. Oh and the writing, top-notch, love it!
Skylar is sweet, caring and all she's ever wanted is to have someone to talk to. She is a little socially awkward, which is super relatable for me and I adored her. She is seriously someone you'd want as your friend! Oliver, oh boy. Who gave you the right to make me fall for you like that, haha. He is the bad boy with issues who you can't help but love despite of everything. I can't talk more about him, I'm still recovering, okay?! The tension between Sky and Ollie is also top-notch! The way everything else kind of disappears when they are in the same room and you can just feel it between them, wow chills.
This book is the perfect example why I have trust issues! I didn't trust anyone, I mean not a single soul, not fully at least. When someone was being sweet towards Sky I was immediately like what's your agenda here? Because someone is after Sky, and bad things keep happening to her (she is clearly in danger and someone wants her gone), I couldn't trust anyone. To be completely honest, there were moments when I was like "back off you freaking idiots or I'll get inside the book and beat you up" to certain people. I'm not a violent person, I promise, haha!
This kept me on the edge of my seat the entire way through. You never know what's going to happen next. And you are anxiously waiting for something really bad to happen because you just KNOW something bad, worse than before, is going to happen, no matter what. And when it all goes to shit, it comes at you with a bang; smacking into you, knocking you off your feet and leaves you gaping and wide eyed.
So! Many! Twists! The ending! I'm shook! What in the world, you can't just leave me like that but also I love it! Ugh so many questions left unanswered, I need the second book like yesterday. Wow. Wow. Obsessed. Amazing. Brilliant. Wow.
"Fortune favors the bold. Danger is sweet."
*I received this ARC from the author but the thoughts are completely my own.*
Honestly, the story is really your typical bully high school book, nothing original. The part that annoyed me the most was how weak and pathetic the female lead was, she had no self respect, her inner dialogue did not match her actions, I grimaced when she would apologize to the bully’s .....she was not brave, or strong, or smart. It was hard to read because I felt nothing but embarrassed for her. Also, zero chemistry between the 2 love interests....
Wow! I couldn’t get enough of Skylar and her so called friends! This book definitely kept me at the edge of my seat. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
A Different Twist On The Regular Bully Reads! 4.5 stars!
But I’d sold my heart to a beast, and I didn’t think I’d get it back at this rate.
This book grabbed me from the beginning. Disorder is Katie’s debut novel, and I’m already hooked with everything she has to offer. Katie’s writing style, the way she wrote, her grammar and punctuation, and word usage was different from what I’ve normally read, and I’m obsessed. There’s so much to unpack, I don’t even know where to start! But, it’s all good things.
I loved the fact that this wasn’t the usual bully romance and it’s definitely something I wanna read more of. The dedication of the characters bullying towards Sky was so sad but so intriguing to read. The amount of mystery in this book will keep you at the edge of your seat. You’re always coming up with theories and honestly, that's one of my favorite things to do; unpacking a story and trying to piece it together.
Skyler is a girl who is relatable. I loved how she wasn’t naive, but because she was so excluded from having a regular social life, she didn’t know exactly what to do in situations. Sky is a girl that wanted friends, to be liked and loved, so she kind of let certain things happen, but wasn’t dumb. She always pointed out the wrong, but usually only to herself.
Ollie. Man, I don’t even know where to start with him. You never knew what he was thinking. I loved the fact that we didn’t read any of his POV till the end. You didn’t know what his intentions were. You weren't able to figure out his friends, Griff and Leo, either. But, Ollie is that bad boy mysterious alpha with an attitude problem that you just fall for anyways.
Just like with the main characters, the side characters were some of the best I've read. Clover understood exactly what Skyler was going through with her bad home life and the bullying, so their friendship was instant. Leo and Griff were just as mysterious as Ollie. One minute you feel a genuine connection between Sky and them, and the next makes you think the opposite with everything happening. There’s so many double standards and hypocrisy that leaves you thinking about them.
I had a feeling this was going to end with a plot twist and a cliffhanger. But I didn’t know HOW. And man, it gets you, that's for sure. Throughout the whole book, something keeps happening to Sky, and you’re left with the mystery of the who and the why. It ends with you needing more and has your heart pounding near the end. Also, I loved the Mean Girl vibes mixed with a little Gossip Girl. The only thing I didn’t like was the pace of the book: it was fast then slow, but still kept me hooked. This is definitely worth the read for anyone needing some drama, mystery, and romance.
I am a sucker for an academy book, add on the bully aspect of it, and I am sold. This is Katie Lowrie's debut book and looks to be a four book series. It took a minute for me to get my bearings for this book since it is written in British English.
Hawthorne Academy has two ruling groups, The Set and The Sect. Sky is a scholarship student and of course, the two groups take interest in her. There are secrets and lies and suspense around every corner of this book. I thought I had things figured out and then I started to get thrown for a loop during several parts.
Everyone is a suspect. I don't know who Sky should trust, because I sure don't trust anyone. Who is telling the truth? Who is faithful? Who is out to ruin Sky? I feel like some questions were answered, but I have way more than what I started with.
The book does end on a cliffhanger that I did not see coming, but it looks like book two, Disease, will be out in May!
Katie Lowrie nailed this! I finished this book in one sitting! Disorder is full of suspense and drama, and I was sucked straight into the story. There is a lot of mystery, plenty of twists and turns and I was at the edge of my seat the whole time while reading this. Skyler was honestly so relatable. I felt like I really connected with her. Heroines are what make or break a book for me, and Sky was bloody amazing! Ollie was so freaking hot!! I loved all three of the guys, Griff, Leo, and Ollie, but I just have a soft spot for Ollie. Each of them brought something unique to the table and you couldn't help but root for them. This was my first "dark academy book" and it was so good I'm about to go binge some more books with this trope lol. That ending!! Ugh, I can't wait for book two!
New adult is not my go-to genre, but Katie Lowrie created a world that has got a dark romance lover on the edge of her seat until the end. She created characters that are real, vulnerable and hard to dislike, even though one or two definitely ended up on my shitlist. It's an amazing duet and it is the favorite New Adult I've read so far! Can't wait for the next book!
Not Another Teen Bully Romance…With a Side of Serial Killer ( rolls eyes)
** This review May contain some Spoilers**
This book begins like most other books of this genre. The poor girl, broken home, mother who can’t seem to grow up, and is completely self serving. Even has a creepy boyfriend. This is the life of Skylar Crescent.
Her only light at the end of a very bleak existence is when she is excepted into a prestigious boarding school.
Hawthorn Academy.
And, as what normally unfolds in these stories, while being shown around by fellow scholarship student Clover, the girl set to become her roommate (and bestie) Skylar lays eyes on the three boys that will become her downfall. Leo Hawthorne Oliver Brandon Griff Cooper. Otherwise known as “The Sect”
You also know that no matter how many times her BFF Clover warns her to stay away from them, because they are trouble, she is going to put herself on their radar. Particularly on the radar of Oliver ( all my friends call me Olli)
With Oliver, the relationship, and sexually immature SIXTEEN YEAR OLD Skylar is well out of her depth. Unfortunately this is a lesson she learns far too late.
Poor Skylar, the poor girl from the wrong side of the tracks, truly believed these rich, entitled, hot guys actually found her beautiful and fun. She firmly believed that she was finally fitting in, that she had it all. A fun BFF, and the hot boyfriend all the girls coveted. Wrong, wrong, WRONG!
This book started out fairly typical of its type.
The main female character thinking she had the good looks, and personality to win over the notorious school bad boy, only to find,… Nah, he did give a F, and he was deliberately plotting her downfall.
The author also made no apology’s for referencing other well know teen plot tropes throughout ( as well as a healthy dose of teen movie shout outs…Hello! Mean Girls) Plus, some of her own personal favourite movies, books, …and Hamilton (the musical not the racing car driver)
So. Just as you are settling in for…Oh No here we go….A bully romance just like ALL the others, the author leaves us with what could be a psycho serial killer that might, just possibly, be targeting the HA mean girls “the Set”
By the time I got to the end of this story, I couldn’t bring myself to empathise with Skylar, and the situation she ended up in because, she was SOOO an armoured with being with the popular guys, (a position she would have BE ER found herself in) she refused to notice what was going on around her. Poor Clover…How many times did she warn her…Give this girl a medal.
She honestly thought that she was so special, she was going to be all the guys little cute friend, and all the time they were playing her…Hahaha! Fifty dollars says she STILL try’s to worm her way back to Olli, because this girl has go it BAD, and refuses to believe her and Olli weren’t really..Silly B. ***
I had read the original version of Disorder and really enjoyed Skylar's story, so when I heard that Katie Lowrie was rewriting the series I was intrigued to read it again. This second edition follows the exact same storyline as the first version, but the story flows much better and the language is more adult. Being British myself I really loved reading a story that contains some of the best British swear words and insults!
Skylar is your stereotypical naive 16 year old girl who has grown up in a very poor household. She's a loner and puts up with her Mum and her creepy Step Dad who both ignore her at all times. When suddenly she's invited to join a private academy as a scholarship student she jumps at the chance.
Of course this academy features your usual popular crowd, consisting of the Set and the Sect. On entering the school she snags the attention of the resident heartthrob Oliver and his friends Leo and Griff. She makes a best friend instantly in fellow scholarship student Clover and although she's warned off by her to stay away from the guys Skylar refuses to listen.
I really didn't like Clover at all. There is obviously a lot of secrets that are being kept from Skylar. Oliver is a hard nut to crack and he was giving me whiplash with his hot and cold behaviour.
Disorder has a lot of bullying towards Skylar, but everything she comes back stronger. The ending of the book still makes my heart break for her, even though I've read this series before. This series is a must read for those who love a really good high school bully romance. The story has so much to it and without giving too much away there are lots of twists and turns in this series that will surprise you.

“𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗱. 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗲𝘁” ⠀ ⠀⠀ Holy shit I need book 2 right now ⠀ ⠀⠀ A book that takes place in a shady af highschool with shady people? Count me in. I have been super excited to read this and let me tell you: it did so not dissapoint ⠀ ⠀⠀ Skylar was such a wonderfull main character, she was so relatable and loving. The way she dealt with everything that happened to her was amazing and I loved how she actually showed the effects of those extreme situations she went through. I honestly cannot with her mother though? Everytime she appeared I wanted to throw something at her agh. I’m still not sure how to feel about Clo tho? Like I love her but she’s confusing me at the same time ⠀ ⠀⠀ Okay then onto the best part: the sect. Those freaking boys. I love every single one of them even though I’m pretty sure I shouldn’t. Griff is the cutest thing walking this earth, honestly I cannot get enough of him. Ollie is so freaking hot, and ughh he got me so confused and flustered all through the book. And even though we know the least about my man Leo he’s my favourite. He’s shady and we love to see it. ⠀ ⠀⠀ The plottwists in this book got me literally screaming at my phone. I didn’t trust any of the characters during this book but this ending is causing even more trust issues. ⠀ ⠀⠀ This is the perfect read for someone craving some dark highschool vibes. I’d give this book 4,5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 ⠀ ⠀⠀ Katie my love, you created a diamond, thankyou for giving me the chance fo read this arc for you 🤍
Right from the moment I first learned about Disorder, I was super excited! Could not wait to read it, figured it would be a book that I devoured. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.
Enemies to lovers, bully romance, broody alpha male… it is all up my alley. This book though… I don’t know, I just struggled so much. At 60%, I decided that I couldn’t read it any longer. So, I stopped, read another book, and then reluctantly went back to Disorder. I’ll be honest, I wish I hadn’t continued because the next chapter made me cringe so bad. At one point, a girl is found dead, with a clump of hair that is the main characters (how they knew that immediately doesn’t make sense), by two different people (writer error, maybe?). It was just strange and then the whole situation is just brushed aside and they all move on.
I had hope for Clover and Skylar’s friendship, but that just turned into a crazy mess. Was not a fan of Clover at all. The twist at the end… eh, I’m not a fan. Think it’s too farfetched.
I wanted to love this book so badly, but I just couldn’t. With this being Katie’s debut novel, I feel so horrible that I couldn’t connect with this book and didn’t love it. I’m mildly interested in knowing what happens in the next book, but I think my journey ends here. I wish Katie all the best with her writing career and hope it flourishes.
I cannot believe this is the first book by this author!? It has blown me away!! I've read a lot of dark bully romances but this one has taken it to another level!! I'm in shock at how good this was!! At first It started just like so many other bully romances....poor girl gets scholarship to a rich school...BUT then the plot shifts and your left thinking WTF? I just didn't know where the plot was going and who to trust, everyone seems to have a secret.....all the way through I was trying to guess what was going to happen next..... there were just so many twists and turns, it was impossible!!! Ollie, Leo and Griff all have something to hide...can we trust any of them?? As for Skyler, well I really want to see her come back fighting.......she was far to trusting and naive and at times I really wanted to give her a hard shake and tell her to wake up!!. This story is dark and addictive in the best possible way......how am I supposed to wait for the next book when all I can think about is that ending????

Sky never knew her father and her mother didn’t care about her but her step father maybe watched her a bit too much and creepy. She was offered a scholarship to the prestigious Hawthorn Academy with all expenses paid as a recipient from donors from charity. Clover was her roommate and had been the charity case last year and tried to warn Sky about the consequences of her choices. Griff, Ollie and Leo were the reigning boys at school because in one way or another they were a Hawthorn. The O’s were the reigning girls. Ollie had chosen Sky and she readily succumbed to his charms as Clover continuously warned her of his deception. But as the school year continued, pranks, beatings, shameful videos, lies, deception, bullying, shaming, and other emotional situations occurred between Sky, Clover, the O’s, the boys and the other students at Hawthorn until the truth was revealed. But did that mean that this was the end of the line for Sky? And what did it mean for Clover? Or the boys and the O’s? I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!!

I'm giving this book a 3.5 star. I liked the a academy side to this story and enjoyed reading this book. But I also disliked a couple of things which made it hard for me to get excited about the book. I really hated Skylar.... she was the main thing that I disliked in this book. Cause she didn't want to find out about stuff and just kinda ignored everything around her.... Ollie was whiney and I just didn't get any insight of him. He was just a character that was hot AF and powerful. They were both very dull compared to other characters. LEO was really mysterious and I had a feeling that there is so much more to him and I want to find out more about him. Clover has skylark best interests at heart but can be really pushy about it. Griffin is the one with the most personality in this book and you can read that he has a past but also kinda shows more of himself with each chapter. I would've enjoyed it more if it wasn't for Skylar I think. But that's my opinion.
I have been anticipating this book ever since it got announced and damn, it did not disappoint!
This book had me gripped, hook line and sinker from the first chapter. I was on tenterhooks all the way through as the suspense is just palpable.
Sky is my new favourite heroine! She was soooo relatable and I just adored everything about her story and her.
Ollie.. Man I love him. Sexy, angry, broody, bad boy. MY TYPE OF MAN. Ugh he's just all I want and more.
This book has left me with so many questions, so many mixed feelings and a serious hole in my heart. I neeeeeeded the next book like yesterday!
Katie, I am so damn proud of you for this amazing debut, It is absolutely phenomenal as are you, now get your writing hat on and bring us more Hawthorne!!
Young adult has a rep for being overly sweet, but Katie Lowrie has proved that doesn’t have to be the case.
Disorder is a fantastically written, exiting read and it was refreshing to have a bully romance that wasn’t American! It was dark in all the right ways without being too far fetched that it wasn’t believable, and there was just the right amount of steam for this genre.
This book draws you in from the first chapter and the whole way through you’re thrown into the intrigue that is Hawthorn Academy.
Sky was a great lead character and as the book developed she came on well. I loved that up until the last page you just didn’t know who to trust! I still don’t know now and can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Cliffhangers are the way I roll and this one did not disappoint!
Amazing debut. Skylar Cresent finds herself as the newest student at the prestigious Hawthorn Academy. Where the usual school rules take a back seat, and the wealthy kids command the student population. I was sucked in from the get-go and found Sky to be really likeable. It's full of teen angst and drama. no matter what is thrown her way, Sky keeps her head high. no matter how many times she is targeted she shows up and refuses to be beaten. Sky isn't about to let this opportunity pass her by. I loved her resilience which I suspect she has mastered due to her unconventional upbringing. What should be a opportunity to better herself becomes a game of survival! There are so many twists and layers to this story, but that ending!!!! Gah my jaw hit the floor! Give me book 2 like yesterday!!!
Okay so this book is supposed to read as like a bully romance where the MMCs get her to fall in love with them then betray her.... But it doesn't actually do the job. It doesn't appropriatly shine the lovable light on the MMCs and also just makes the FMC like OMGs girl... why don't u listen to ur bestie who knows whats better for you? and it also makes you go like "Why come here? Why are you like this? Why you so naive and innocent?" I didn't really like this book but because I've been in a book slump I finished it.
Love, Ishya P.S. This is review #76. I only have 34 more reviews to go and only one day. Wish me luck!
An unusually intense read This first book in the “Hawthorn Academy” series is a dark bully romance that will keep you on the edge of your seat with drama, mystery, and intense emotions. The realism of the main characters really makes this tale worth reading. Sky is both sweet and vulnerable, yet has a strong personality. The twists in this tale will keep you guessing until the end. This is an exciting yet sad tale and I highly recommend this read. I received a free copy of this book for an honest review
This book series is pretty good, a little Cringe at times but not in the “oh it’s cheesy” more of the “why would she allow that or he do that” it reminds me of lifetime shows/ movies really. It’s a sort read, i felt it could have been better if other characters POV was put in. Also i think the writting is a little immature but then again it’s for Younger adults then myself. The mystery part is what really has me hooked in on it with out spoiling the read but It’s not like other academy books the plot has it’s own unique take and isn’t easily guessed.
Holy shit. I hadn’t read a high school bully romance in a while and this one has me obsessed. After that prologue I knew what was coming but I couldn’t help to be surprised at how the events happened. I honestly did not expect that levels of darkness, but I’m all here for them. Also, the side characters are so well written that I want to know more about them, about their stories, about their mysteries. And that ending. Not gonna lie, grabbed second book immediately because I just couldn’t stop.
Skylar finally had a way out of her mothers and stepfathers sight when she is accepted to the Hawthorn academy, but she couldnt have predicted just how much her life is about to change, meeting Oliver the bad boy, shes warned away from him but like a moth to a flame she craves the attention shes never had. but can she make it through, this is a dark, steamy read with twits and turns and your attention is hooked all the way.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Okay, so the mystery is intriguing, however what Lady Luck said was partially true…the female MC is a fucking desperate dumbass. She stays with Ollie even though the guy is a complete asshole it makes no sense, the guys do absolutely nothing to “help” her against the “set” and she still trusts them?! Dumb bitch. Just frustrating in general. The character building was also not there. I felt nothing towards them or really the story in general. No one is likable. I felt think we were being told a lot of the story instead of feeling like I was “in” it living it.
