Fool me once…shame on you. Fool me twice? I’m coming after you. I never should have come to St. Bart’s without a plan. My emotions got in the way and I paid the price. But the Havoc boys should have learned their lesson by now. Come after me and you better make sure to finish the job. A lot has changed, but not my need for vengeance. They knocked me down, but I am more than ready to get back on my feet. But it’s going to take more than I thought possible to get my revenge. It’s going to take everything I have and more. I can’t do this alone. Drake might be my most unlikely ally. Or, he’ll be the one who stabs me in the back in the moment I need him the most.
Have Mercy is the second book in a planned trilogy. It is not a standalone. May contain triggering content for some readers.
Ashley Gee is a romance author and part-time adult. She lives in Indiana with her husband, two children, two cats, two dogs and partridge in a pear tree (okay not really!). She doesn’t enjoy long walks on the beach because the sand gets everywhere but can often be found binging Netflix and drinking wine from Kroger. Her books feature brooding boys and the girls who bring them to their knees. And the one thing she loves more than anything else is talking about herself in the third person.
Okay so regardless of everything I said about the first book, I actually enjoyed this book a lot more.
The story continues when Drake sees the scene of the accident that Vaughan and Olivia were in and he rushes to the hospital. Olivia is fine but Vaughan sustains a lot more injuries. Drake finally confronts Olivia about her being Evangeline and he convinces her to work with him to get to the bottom of everything. He uses a clause that was set in the Havoc House by-laws and gets Evangeline to initiate in order to get her back into the university and closer to all the secrets.
Drake and Evangeline were so much more better in this book! Like they were good in the other book but they had all these secrets between them and it just sucked. In this book Drake finally acknowledges and reveals his feelings for Evangeline to her and well damn..that just takes a lot of guts. I loved how he wanted to find out more about what happened to Olivia and is crazy protective over Evangeline!
Also, can I just say how Damn Annoying Nolan is?!!! He's such a douchebag and I hope something horrible happens to him. I mean seriously it's like what Drake told him in the first book..he literally cannot take what he doles out to others, especially Evangeline's sarcasm. I mean he acts like he's the only one who's allowed to be rude and obnoxious. Ugh asshole.
That ending was definitely not something I expected! What happened to Drake and what happened to Evangeline when a certain someone drops by..and fake accusations?! What the hell is happening? Was Olivia really the goody two shoes we all knew from the first book?! Man..this has been the worst cliffhanger I've ever read. I have no idea how the story will continue after all that happened...
I have been eagerly awaiting the next instalment in Drake and Evangelines romance! What a book it was! I love how the plot is progressing at a really nice pace.....just as we start to learn more about what's going on, we get further unexpected twists that leave me on the edge of my seat wondering what is going on? I'm not sure who I can trust, too many characters seem to have hidden agendas. That ending was an OMG moment!! I really didn't see that coming at all. I am just hoping we don't have to wait too long to get all the answers!!

NEED THE NEXT BOOK ASAP!!! I am a big fan when it comes to Ashley Gee. A fairly new author but you wouldn't even know that with the stellar books she writes. Have Mercy is the second book in the Vengeance if Mine series and just like book one, Raise Hell, it was an incredibly addictive read. It definitely surprised me with the direction it ended up taking and I loved that although it seemed a little predictable at times, it ended up being anything but. So much mystery!! Although a few little secrets are uncovered in this book, we are still left with so many unanswered questions. And that ending!!! gaaaaahhhhhhh!! I never saw that coming!!! I need book 3 like yesterday!! Cannot wait to see how it all ends!!!
WHAT!? Wait! WAIIIIIIT! No! WHAT?! I need a minute. **takes inhaler out** Ok I’m good now. Nope that’s a lie. WHAT?! I’ve been PAINFULLY waiting for this sequel and it was worth the wait. I was so engrossed in the story I read it in 2 days. I loved the development of the main characters. They are literally putting their lives in danger to bring justice (and maybe get a little redemption let’s be honest) I love that Evangeline is a bad ass but still able to show vulnerability.
The story has so many twists and turns that left me at the edge of my seat. This is another 5 stars for me!
The only negative thing is that I now have to wait for the third book!

As readers of The Phantom Paragrapher will know that some of my favorite tropes are bullymances, edgy romances, college fiction, and then identical twins tales. Ashley Gee's book #2 Have Mercy has all those tropes featured. We start with the other side of the cliffhanger ending as we have Vaughn and Evie end up in hospital after the car accident. When Evie wakes up, she sees Drake who also now knows that she is Evie and not her twin sister Olivia. Drake wants to find out how the story behind Olivia as it looks like people are willing to kill to have the truth hidden and sealed. In Have Mercy, the pair will team up to find a way to infiltrate and bring down the Havoc Boys once and for all and at the same time get vengeance on those who harmed her sister. What will happen though when the clock is ticking and Drake finds himself framed for charges against Olivia? Have Mercy was a bit more of a twisted tale than Book #1 and this one focused more deeply on the conspiracies and theories of the dark underbelly of Havoc House and the events surrounding their initiations. I have to admit though that Book #2 does end of a major cliffhanger that had me going OMFG and now I can't wait to hurry up and read Book #3 and to see what path author Ashley Gee will take the story and I do hope we haven't seen the last of Evie and Drake.
I did not finish this book but maybe I’ll return later and read it all the way through. I liked what I read but I predict that the main character will be put through the wringer and I just couldn’t go subject myself to that emotionally. I really like the characters and the plot is interesting.
This book starts exactly where the previous book ended. After the "accident" that Evangeline and Vaughn had, Gigi fortunately suffered only some minor injuries while Vaughn was left in a rather vulnerable state. After going to the hospital, and confronting Evangeline about her true identity, Drake proposes that the two of them work together to find out the whole truth regarding what happened to Olivia. Determined to find out the truth and to not get carried away by the intense attraction they feel for each other these two embark on a dangerous investigation, where if they are found out the consequences will be disastrous. Will they be able to unravel all the mysteries of Havoc House and survive to reveal the truth? Will they be able to resist the temptation?
This book was without any doubt a pretty wild ride.
The way Drake and Evangeline involved me from the very beginning of the first book is hard to explain. If I already loved them in the previous book, in this one, in which they are working together and with no secrets between them, I was even more surrendered by them. Gigi is still a badass, but in this book we could see her vulnerability a little more, which made me feel even closer to her. Drake has become one of my favorite male characters, because although I already liked him in the first book, the truth is that many of his attitudes made me angry, but in this second book you can see how much he wants to do the right thing and on the way protect gigi from everything. These two together really have an indescribable chemistry and as much as they try and want to stay apart, it is impossible. I loved the fact that Drake despite fighting his feelings really har in the begginning, ends up confessing how he feels to Gigi, it takes courage!
There were definitely some plot twists I wasn't expecting and what was that ending? If I thought the ending of the first book had made me crazy to read the second book, with this ending I don't even know how I'm going to hold off until August to read what happens to these two.
I just want them to be happy!!!
When it comes to the author's writing all I have to say is that it is too enjoyable to read, 'makes for a very fluid read and hard to stop reading.
I think I enjoyed this book even more than the first one so I happily give it 4.5 stars, and with confidence that the third one is going to be even better!
Here's a sentence i really liked: "There are moments in life that will always stay frozen in you memory after they happen. No matter how much time passes, you'll always be able to pull them up like a perfect picture in your mind."

I've got this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Even though I don’t wanna say it, because some of you may then skip towards the end, this was the most unexpected ending I’ve ever read! Like up until the very last word, I didn’t know that Ashley Gee had THIS planned!
We all know how the previous book ended (car crash). Are they okay, will they make it and most importantly who or what was behind it (if it wasn’t an accident). Now, don’t know if unfortunately but we don’t get to know who or what really happened but we get new answers and knew perspective.
I’m not sure if this book has detective style or if it’s simply curious teenager, but I really loved this aspect! Something about trying to find the answers and not really knowing if you’ll love or hate them has me on the edge of my seat. A whole lot of times had I had this dreadful feeling like they’re about to get caught and I found myself whispering a lot of times (even if it wouldn’t actually change anything, haha).
I loved the fact that the main character Evangeline (now I can finally say who’s the main character) was trying her best to find who did it to her sister even if it was dangerous multiple times! She was nearly vindictive and unapologetic until she sat down and started thinking clearly.
Dean is my second favorite character (obviously) since he also wants to know who did it but also is trying to stop Evangeline from knowing too much or get herself involved too much. Knowing that even if he’s going to look further, he himself could end up worse than anyone else!
It’s definitely a must read times a hundred! You won’t expect a lot of things coming (or at least I didn’t) and the feelings you’ll feel will be worth it!
Also as probably many of you do this too, think about what might happen next when you end a book on a cliffhanger. I, for the love of everything, couldn’t think of anything. I LITERALLY have a wall when I try to think what could happen next! It’s like every thought and idea I have just bounces of off the wall!
This book truly took the word rollercoaster to a whole other level. There's twists after twists, it's intense and it's wild. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time and had my heart beating a little faster. I was shook, rattled and absolutely mind blown. You can't trust anyone, the monsters might as well be lurking just around the corner and even the ones closest to you could betray you.
Also like the Havoc House is truly messed up and the things that they do are dark and twisted, definitely had me gaping learning about it all. They thought they finally broke her but no, this girl is back and this time... she's not alone. She has returned with more need for vengeance than ever before, those Havoc Boys better watch their backs. Oh how I absolutely adore the revenge plot and this hit different than in Raise Hell because stakes are even higher and shit is about to go down. It's truly a pager-turner!
Although I adore the plot and all the crazy stuff the highlight of course is the characters that I'm head over heels in love with, what a perfect badass duo indeed. I love their dynamic so much and them falling for each other no matter how much they tried to deny the connection is simply everything. The tension is still there and damn it's wonderful.
Gaah that ending tho! Wow it smacked me right into my face. If I though the ending of Raise Hell was gasp-worthy this is an insanity level. I was literally gaping for a full minute after reading the last words with my heart going all bum bum. This is so epic and I simply cannot wait for Cry Havoc!
"You fight even when everyone and everything is standing in your way, like some warrior goddess from a legend. I haven't been able to get you out of my head since the moment I laid eyes on you, even when I thought I hated you."
"I feel warm. Protected. The monsters in the dark can't get past through the circle of his arms."
*I received this via BookSirens but the thoughts are completely my own.*
Powerfully Written! Explosive Twists! Exposing Turns! Bindingly Ambitious! Great character development and world building. It did have a few hiccups but nothing that the reader cannot overcome. It did use words that weren't in the right context a few times but you figure pretty quickly what the author is trying to say. I love this world that Miss Gee is trying to convey, I think I understand it making this experience truly a scintillating adventure! Although she is a new author for me I find that I very much enjoy her stories. I see the heart and soul that she is putting into them. You will too. I do recommend that you read this in the order of the books it will make it easier to follow along getting the under story. It really is a good read.

This series... I seriously love it! I knew when first started reading book 1 (Raise Hell) that this series, this plot, these characters, were going to suck me in. This was a book that i knew the cliffhanger would destroy me. I actually dreaded finishing it, but I did. And the next book cannot come soon enough.
This book begins with a prologue into Drakes life and how he became the guy he is. All thanks to his father, Anton Van Koch. He was a sweet boy from East Africa thrown into the lions den.
This story follows Drake and Evangeline (Gigi) as they try to find out what happened to Olivia Pratt. There’s so many secrets that have been and still need to be uncovered, and i am totally clueless on who is guilty.
The boys of havoc house will become men and join the elite secret society after initiation, which is vastly approaching. If Drake and Gigi caught trying to uncover the truth, or even canoodling together, their lives will be at stake.
I cant wait to see what happens in the final book, Cry Havoc!
Oh my god Oh my God!! That is so mean. I can't believe it ended like that. I mean aah I don't know what to do, I almost want to cry lol But yeah what a crazy cliff hanger.
I loved this book. I like the dynamic between Gigi and Drake. It's so fun because Gigi has such a strong personality so she can keep up with all crazy antics. This book had both of them joining forces to find out the culprit while trying to evade their sizzling chemistry. But Ah, their chemistry was so powerful, I like how even though they want to avoid feeling for each other but they don't shy away from expressing it in their own ways. I had a blast reading this and the ending makes me want to punch some characters. Well, I guess I have to wait patiently for more!
Ashley Gee's second novel in the Vengeance is Mine trilogy, Have Mercy, definitely lives up to the amazing start of the series, Raise Hell. Have Mercy follows Evangeline and Drake as they navigate their relationship, the mystery surrounding what happened last year, as well as maneuvering around both The Havoc Boys and the secret society that the graduates of Havoc House are part of. Taking place immediately after the final events of Raise Hell, the story continues with Drake's perspective as he discovers Evangeline's fate from Raise Hell and has some vital realizations about himself. Evangeline has found herself over her head. She has feelings for Drake, she has no clue what happened to Olivia last year, and now she is on The Havoc House alumnus' radar.
This is such an addictive read ! Fantastic follow up from the first book ! The secret identity is out the hunt for the attackers continues ! There is so many twists and turns in this one it definitely had me on the edge of my seat turning page after page . That ending was definitely wicked I didn’t see it coming at all I need the next book now ! Explosive twists and turns great plot fantastic characters this series is one I definitely recommend!

Phew, what a ride this second book in the Vengence is Mine trilogy was. This is unlike any bully romance I have ever read and I could hardly put it down. The difficult subject matter of sexual assault was still a challenge to read but my desire for the truth won out. I can't wait to get my hands on book three.

WTF?!? The first book’s cliffhanger was evil, but this one is completely on another level of cruelty 😭 I have sooo many questions and I can’t wait to start the third installment to get all the answers, this story is just so thrilling! But most of all I need Gigi and Drake to be okay and together, safe and happy forever 🥺
I loved book 1 Raise Hell and Have Mercy is just as good. The secret society aspect is wonderfully creepy without being too focused on it. Evangeline is my type of strong female lead. It was great to learn more about Drake's background and he seems to be coming into himself. The story keeps the twists and turns coming and is filled with suspense and intrigue. There are many other characters I would like to learn more about and the ending leaves you needing book 3 asap.
Omg!! Talk about mind being seriously rocked and you screaming that this is not the end!! There are literally no words to describe how good and intense this book was!! I just hope the author doesnt make us wait until August. I have see how this ends!!
love this so much and i love the way the story is twisting and where its headed. honestly i cant reccomend a book series enough. massive thumbs up to the author
Evangeline and Drake climb the spiral steps and each one takes you into a twister.
I'm not sure how to review this one because I would rather the reader go in blind. It's got vengeance, twists and crazy turns than as you're riding on that bumpy road a cliff comes and has you holding on tight because you can't stop going wtf...
I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.
4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars! Enemies to lover/ Bull romance. Book 2 is even more intense, there is a lot going on and another cliffy, omg, I have to wait until the end of this month for the last book to come out and I am biting my nails. This series is so good and juicy.
Holy fucking shitballs. These plot twists are absolutely INSANE. I swear our girl doesn’t ever catch a fucking break, those Havoc Wankers are the scum of the earth. They all deserve to rot in hell, except from Drake obvs. That cliffhanger has got my head spinning and I need answers right the fuck now.
I am not even done with this book yet but I am already so frustrated with the inconsistencies in the storyline that I had to say something.
First, how the heck did we go from them being at a Halloween party to it being Christmas break the next day. And it isn't like time was skipped, the book implies the party was a few days prior then mentioned them being on Winter break with Christmas trees.
The second is the fact that at the end of Raise Hell, it is clearly stated that Evangeline was driving Vaughn's car while he aimed the gun at her, as stated here: "Once we’re in his car, Vaughn does the smart thing and makes me drive so he can keep his gun pointed at me." YET, all throughout Have Mercy, it keeps implying that he was the one driving.
The more I am reading, the more frustrated I am becoming. However, due to my annoying need to finish all of the series I read I am going to have to continue. I do enjoy the storyline but there is nothing worst then obvious inconsistencies like this.
THAT CLIFFHANGER ??? … I MEAN I KNEW IT BUT WTF 😭😭😭😭
if the first book grabbed my attention this one completely knocked me over… the way i root for Gigi and Drake they own me rn 🥺 also I think i’ll wait a couple of days now before starting the next one because I still need to process this wtf intensifies
This is the second book the series and, in the opposite of most triologies, this book don't slow down. Evangeline, here, continues looking for the responsibles of the "accident " and for this, she needs deep herself more and more in Havoc Boys and their house. In the same time, she and Derek needs to handle with their chemichal and their problems. It's a really good book and i devour it quickly.
The story gets better by the minute. After the tremendous ending of the previous book where our h is about to die in a car accident, she thinks about giving up. After everything that has happened, she is not close to finding the truth and she thinks that she will never be, and after being about to lose her life, she begins to be really afraid. But Drake won’t let her give up. Drake is fed up with threats of his father, seeing that Havoc House is not what he thought and after almost losing the girl he loves. So Drake offers to help her unmask and finish them off and he’s going to help her from within. But things get tough for them when Brady, an alumni, makes an appearance for prepare the Havoc Boys for their Initiation. But our Olivia is not going to be beaten so easily even if it means getting fully into the wolf’s mouth. As in the previous book, the end of this one is going to leave you with your mouth open, your heart beating so fast and wondering what now?
“What truth?” “When I saw that car on the side of the road, heard the sirens, and realized that you’d been in a crash…fuck. That was the worst experience of my entire life.” He closes his eyes as I continue to stare at him, as if he can’t bear to look at me while he speaks. “Do you have any idea what it’s like to realize that you might be in love with someone at the exact moment that they could be dying?” My mouth falls open. “Drake…” He holds his hand up with a pained expression, as if he can’t bear to let me finish. “You don’t have to say anything. You probably shouldn’t. I definitely shouldn’t be saying any of this out loud. I completely understand that this is a one-sided thing because I don’t deserve even your forgiveness, much less anything else. I know it’s crazy and ridiculous and I don’t have any right to put this on you, especially right now, but it’s killing me to pretend that this is something different from what it is. When all of this inevitably goes sideways and you’re wishing you’d never met me, I don’t want you to walk away without the truth…I love you.” “You love me,” I repeat slowly, too dumbfounded to say anything else. “You’re stubborn, hot-headed and more than a little scary when you’re angry.” His smile is more than a little sad as he watches the play of emotions crossing my face. “You’re also the most loyal person that I’ve ever met. God, you fight even when everyone and everything is standing your way, like some warrior goddess from a legend. I haven’t been able to get you out of my head since the moment I laid eyes on you, even when I thought I hated you.” The hollow in my chest has filled with a painful pressure, leaving me breathless. “You hurt me and betrayed me. You humiliated me in front of the entire school.” He swallows hard enough that his throat jerks with the movement. “I know.” I close the distance between us, driven by an urge that I don’t have the words to describe. “And I lied to you from the first moment that we met. You didn’t even know my real name until a few weeks ago. I came here with every intention of destroying you if I could.” He gives me a sardonic smile. “Yeah, you did.” My hand cups the hard line of his jaw, heat flaring between us. “Neither of us has earned any trust. Or forgiveness.” “Evangeline…” I silence him with a fingertip pressed against his lips. “My friends call me Gigi.” When I kiss him this time, it doesn’t feel like a mistake. It feels like finally admitting to myself what I’ve always known is true.
I don't know quite what happened, but after the high of Raise Hell, Have Mercy kinda crashed and burned.
At the end of the last book Gigi (I can now call her that without spoiling anything) had been the one driving the car she was in with Vaughn before they were run off and crashed. He'd forced her into the car at gunpoint, keeping the weapon trained on her while she drove. In this book, it was repeatedly mentioned by both of them (and others) how Vaughn had been the one driving.
In book 1, Drake's eyes had been described as being gray-green in color. They switched to blue-green.
Book 1 ended on Halloween night. I even remember Gigi, Anya, and Felicia all going dressed as animals. The Halloween party ended after the gang bang video got played. Gigi went to her dorm, where Vaughn found her, and then they got in his car and ended up in the hospital. We switched books, she stayed there for maybe two days, and suddenly it was winter break? The timeline made no sense. How did we get from the end of October to late December in 72 hours?
There was also a mention of how Gigi hadn't talked to her Dad while at St Bart's, when I specifically remember her calling him and them talking about Olivia during Raise Hell. So that was also wrong.
And even within the book itself, the continuity was crap. In chapter 12, Vaughn very explicitly said he checked himself out of the hospital, then in chapter 18, Drake asked Vaughn, “You sure they didn’t release you from the hospital too soon?”. Dude. We went over it just a handful of chapters ago. It's not a good look that I, as a reader, am more familiar with a story and its details than the author herself. Get an editor, or at the very least a beta-reader. Someone to put a second set of eyeballs on this and catch all of these mistakes.
For me, the shine got really dulled with this book. Raise Hell had left me on a high, but in Have Mercy, Drake and Gigi became dumb, the plot got shoved aside in favor of frat-y shenanigans and dragged out secrecy, the continuity got yeeted out the highest window the author could find, and I'm now bored and uninterested.
I feel like I'm being strung along. The tiny crumbs I'd been following to sate my appetite for answers ran out, and now I'm lost in the forest of half-developed ideas that's become of this trilogy. What a disappointment.
Will Evangeline and Drake Uncover the Secrets of the Alumni
The second book in the Vengeance is Mine Series. , Continues with Evangeline still trying to get to the bottom of who beat her sister, almost to death, on the night of the Bacchanal.
Since the last book, her relationship with Drake van Koch has developed further, so much so ,that the two are now joining forces to get to the bottom of Olivia’s attack, while also trying to take down the Alumni.
They have a plan, a plan that involves Evangeline becoming a pledge, as her father is still a member. Thus, making her the first female to do so.
Not an easy task as the elusive, mystery society seems to be one step ahead all the time.
Just as it feels like they are finally going to get answers, Drake finds himself arrested, while Evangeline gets an unexpected visit from her father, a dressing down, and one more surprise visitor.
This book mainly revolves around Evangeline and Drake connecting. While the plot is still there, it’s pushed slightly to the side, as Drake confesses his love to Evangeline in his room (like we couldn’t tell where things were going the minute he suggested she stay there) after rescuing her from the gauntlet.
This whole scene was just too much!
Oh my goodness! Did Drake suffered from a bout of verbal diarrhoea at this point. He just couldn’t stop himself gushing over E, “warrior goddess from a legend” ???…..COME ON
JUST STOP!!,
Then we had Evangeline waxing lyrical about Drakes appearance. Why do authors think we need the constant reminder about this once they have mentioned it the first time?
So while these two get their heads together trying to unravel the crime against Olivia, and put the perpetrators behind bars, they never waste a moment when they are together to feel each other up.
Overall, I’m enjoying the storyline, even IF Evangeline is a compulsive, hothead who jumps into situations without thinking of the consequences.
