A Christmas feel-good tale of snowy, cobbled streets, unfulfilled desires and the sexiest whippet in Yorkshire! When bubbly Sean Miles applies for a job with a film company, little does he realise what he’s getting into. As an experienced dog groomer, he’s great with fur and claws and loves a poochie cuddle, but has never offered human treatments. Until now. Heath Mailer is playing the character of Heathcliff. Dark, brooding and intense, the lead actor can scowl aplenty but when he’s in trouble he doesn’t know how to ask for help. Who’s going to offer a hand to Mister Moody? Forced to work together, Sean and Heath discover some unusual techniques that not only aid the production but also get to the heart of what ails the lead actor. Whoever said dog therapy can’t work on people?
Oh my freaking goodness, this is such an adorable warm-hearted feel-good story. At times my face hurt from smiling and giggling, at times I had to swallow and blink something away. Overall it’s a sweet lighthearted story, there are tiny little glimpses of ugliness life can throw, but it’s more about fun, kindness and improvisation ability of sweet caring people.
Like the storm Ellis, this story was a fresh cleaning wind that blows away all the ugliness of RL. Sean is broke and needs a job, without even understanding how, he ends up as the film assistant of actor Heath Mailer on the film set of Wuthering Heights. Managing dogs or people can’t be that different, right? Heath, somewhat depressed and misunderstood, is mesmerized by the sweet Sean who seems to be the answer to all his problems.
This narrative has delightful lighthearted humor, I laughed out loud. It has a sweet romance with some naughty edges and made me fall in love with both men. The honesty and openness were refreshing. The whole film set was a pretty nice environment even more at Christmas. All the similarities, read and find out yourself, were smart and hilariously real. It’s about finding solutions instead of looking for obstacles and discovering yourself and enjoy the sexy deliciousness life can give. So much joy in only 60 pages, I adored this story!
I’ll admit it, the cover grabbed me straight off, and I couldn’t wait to see what A.M. Fox was going to do with a story titled: Heathcliff and the Sexy Whippet. Well, I am pleasantly surprised and completely charmed! A.M. Fox has a real knack for situational comedy, and a unique and clever way of phrasing things. Sweet, and just a little corny, this delightful tale will have you laughing out loud.
Broke and unemployed, plucky Sean Miles is down on his luck. A little fudging on his qualifications lands him a temporary job as an assistant on a film set, which turns out to be way outside his comfort zone. This cutie’s optimistic outlook never wanes, and Sean gathers up his courage and dives right in. It’s hilarious the way he applies skills gained as a dog groomer to wrangle this pack of spoiled, over the top actors!
Sean has a way with difficult doggies, and it’s no surprise his heart goes out to Heath. The grouchy lead actor’s bad behavior is affecting everyone on the movie set, and Sean pulls out his very best pet spa methods to try and calm Heath’s beast. Through Sean’s pampering Heath begins to open up, and the men forge a unique bond. Sean’s care and attention work its magic and Heath gradually blossoms from a bitter grouch into a sexy and considerate boyfriend.
This story is cleverly written, and I enjoyed the way A.M. Fox develops Sean’s character. Each task Sean undertakes reveals key details of his life, and helps us to understand this unique and interesting young man. And while some of Sean’s insights might seem peculiar, I think most dog lovers will agree: Yes, dogs do smile. (And I massage my dogs too - it’s not weird at all.)
My only complaint about Heathcliff and the Sexy Whippet is that it ends too soon. I’d have loved to see Sean and Heath meet Sean’s brother and have their promised Christmas celebration. Just a few more chapters so they can set up Sean’s new boutique, and start living the life these characters deserve. A.M. Fox is a marvelous writer, and I’m looking forward to more from this newbie!
Short, sweet and so very silly but it mostly works.
The premise is a cracker, broke and out of work dog groomer gets a job as an assistant on a film set and proceeds to use all his 'dog whisperer' techniques on cast and crew.
It's set in Haworth, somewhere I'm very familiar with, living only 15 miles away, but I have to say it didn't feel particularly Yorkshire.
That aside, Sean is ridiculously cute, Heath is all brooding actor really just needing someone to take over and let him chill, and the plot rattles along at a brisk pace.
I think I'd have liked it to be just a little bit longer with a bit more attention given to the way the narrative ends.
It felt a bit rushed and rather abruptly cut off but I'd definitely read more from A.M. Fox.

With all that's happening I haven't been in the mood for a holiday read but this was exactly what I needed, maybe because it's so much different than the usual. It's quirky (very much so), it's funny, it's sweet and it's dirty too. But it also had an emotional depth that took me by surprise.
Sean's gentle soul and his ability to apply his dog skills on people (therapy for dogs is a real thing btw) will stay with me.
What made me read this? I’ll never know. Is it sweet? Sure. It’s very oddly written. It feels like it was written by a computer program. Or perhaps a person whose first language isn’t English. There is an odd formality amidst the silliness. Anyway, I finished it. So that’a something. It’s quite short. And odd.
The cover is really good and cute, so I thought I need to know what is this about. I'm not disappointed, but I thought it would be a bit more on the dog and romance theme.
The writing stlyle was good and it's a quick read, I started the book and the next thing I know it has ended.
Sean and Heath both were lovely and I loved their relationship. Slow burn and so cute - exactly how a first love looks like, because it was that, pure first love.
Sean's dog therapy and all things with dogs was adorable, and when he applied that to Heath and the others, I loved that. Heath on his back in vulnerable position was a lovely sight and loved how Sean handled everything. The only thing he knew how to do was with dogs, and he tried those knowledge on the crew too, and it worked.
I wanted a bit more romance, more touches, more emotions, so it's only 3,5 star for me. It was a cute book about first love, but I'm needy if it comes to first love - I need more intimacy.
Quirky and a crazy ride. A fun read!! This was charming and delightful. Sean is a dog groomer who has gotten a job with a film company. Heath is an actor. These two were perfect together. Loved the story!! I am voluntarily leaving a review form an advanced copy that I received. My reviews are solely based on my thoughts and opinions.
For all he knew, I was a ruthless creature who despised vegetables, rather than the reality. I cried at TV adverts and had been a vegetarian for years.
Ha! This is a whirlwind of crazy, paws, and impromptu therapy sessions. Sean is normally working with dogs but is applying for a job at a movie set. Who says humans don't have the same needs dogs do? Sean. Sean says that, I'm not sure anyone else does. And to be honest, I think my dog would have eaten Sean LOL. But you never know, he is said to be a sexy Whippet.
I read this sitting on the sofa, chuckling while my husband gave me funny looks.
And that is the story of how I got the job, won a canine friend and left the interview with a boner the size of Blackpool.
And so it begins.
This was an absolutely charming, delightful read. Funny? Definitely! Filthy? Yeah, there was a bit of that too. LOL
The story of a desperate, young dog groomer who, against the odds, lucks himself into a job on a movie set. How different can working with humans be, right?
A wonderfully, crazy ride. And a completely enjoyable read!
Taking a chance stepping out of your comfort zone, can exceed your unknown expectations. Sean, ex dog groomer, unemployed and nearly homeless, desperately went on an interview he didn't remember applying for, and awkwardly stumbled through. He was saved when Heath came into the room, obviously terrified and out of his depth and terrified of Daffodil, the Komodor. Sean, calmed her down and got the job. It was a hoot, Sean was able to leverage his dog skills on humans. Sean and Heath took comfort in the ease they felt with each other. Through a series of misunderstandings and miscommunications, they managed to work together. How much will Lenin, impact the friendship? Can Sean get out of his head? Can Heath, man up and ask for what he wants? Good story. Fun to watch the guys wandering through the maze of their working relationship. Nicely done. I’m of two minds about this book: the premise (out of work dog groomer gets a job on a movie set as an assistant, proceeds to use dog styling & calming techniques on actors) has the potential to be pretty adorable, and there are flashes of that in the book. There’s some chemistry between the two leads. There’s something a bit disjointed about the work as a whole, however-- like it can’t quite decide between snark and sweetness, and doesn’t completely mesh the two together. It also starts a bit abruptly, and I felt like I was catching up for a fair amount of the story without really getting a handle on it. Overall, however, it was an enjoyable read.

**First Time Reader** I came in knowing this was going to be something interesting. It was a sweet but quirky holiday romance. A little challenging sometimes to stay on track of the story(especially in the beginning) but once Sean got the assistant job I was good to go. A lot of misunderstandings could have been cleared up early so that the romance between Heath and Sean would have been less stressful(especially on Sean's part). I would have liked an epilogue to see a little bit of their future. All in all it was entertaining.

Going to interview for a job that you don't remember applying for in a place that is quirky at best. This story grabbed me as it opened and kept my attention all the way through. Sean and Heath are interesting characters and some of the elements of the story made it even more fun and engaging.

I really enjoyed this sweet quick read. It features upbeat but unemployed dog groomer Sean and moody, gloomy actor Heath. Sean ends up as Heath's assistant and turns out to be everything he needs. This is a fun, fast read with humor, snark, minor angst, and fantastic HEA. Perfect for the holidays.

2.5* Mostly I was confused - The premise was good - a brooding ‘Heathcliff’, snow, Yorkshire village, - but I felt it jumped around a lot and the characters were quite flat. Perhaps a longer version would allow the depth that I was looking for.
